Walking Street Bar.....WTF

Recommended Posts

Last night on walking street I was gonna have a bevvy with my girl in The Walking Street Bar(the one with the big car on the wall) but at the door they were asking 200baht entrance fee :yikes:

Now unless this fee included a free BBBJ(I dont think it did), then this is taking the piss :D

No more taking the piss than the pubs in the UK doing the same.

My bad did not realise there was two places on WS with large seppo cars on the wall.

This is the one at Gullivers.

I have always known this bar as Walking Street bar because of the big "tube" style sign outside.

However if it is really called Gullivers then I stand corrected :sorry

I wiil be sure to take a closer look next time I am passing.

You are right. It is owned by Gullivers but that's not the name most people use to describe it...just people who want to be pedantic.

The place sucks. The music is to loud, ganster hiphop. It has got to have the most expensive drinks on walking street. The bouncers are assholes too. I've seen them gang up on Farang before, beating them on the street. Other than first time curosity, I can't see why anyone would even go in, much less pay 200 baht to do so. The Chinese tourist have the right idea. Get their picture taken under the car, and then move on.

Well, I dont want to pass judgement on a club without having all the facts, ie experience at the business, I have found that every bar that i have read negative reviews about, are actually bars that I like alot...that being said, unless the 200 baht cover charge includes a couple drinks, I do not see how they could maintain much of a customer base with a cover charge as i dont think most people are willing to pay it :clueless ....

Cover charges, in my experience, are used more for screening out customers, i.e preventing certain types of customers from entering the business....now i will be very curious to wander by there, even if it is just to moon them! :moon :grin :moon :grin

Hi,

Went in last night: NO cover charge. :moon

Maybe only for the 31th being a very busy day ?

BTW I went inside but quickly made a U-turn: Music is way to loud for me :grin

PS: The reason to go there could be that MANY ladies/freelancers go there... :clueless

Cover charge could be a after 10/11/12pm thing? I've never been in but always see a lot of russians walking in. If there are FLs , then it could be worth a visit.

I`m pretty certain the cover charge was just a New Years Eve thing, but out of order IMHO ^_^

The music is way to loud. It's not good either. The 20 somethings that like gangster rap and hip hop would feel at home. The drinks are outrageous priced. I have yet to find a place charging as much for drinks. It makes Lucifer and Goodfella's seem cheap. The freelancers go in for the young, two week millionaires. More than half of us on this board are between 40-60 years of age, and wouldn't get a second look from the freelancers in there, if you started yourself on fire.

I may be getting old, but the music in this place is just terrible, gang rap at its very worst. And loud, OMG.

What type of customers do they expect to get in there, 20yo black drug dealers from downtown LA ?

Only Gullivers I know of is on Beach Rd near Soi 1. Built and looks much like the Gullivers in BKK.

Well, now you know there are two in Pattaya.

Yup.

After 9:pm the volume goes up and the customers turn black lol.

I usually don't see many "gangsta" dressed folk in Thailand... but this is the place to find them. Pants sitting somewhere between the ass and the knees, dew rags, the whole lot. Its not a place I like to go, but seems there are quite a few freelancers that love it. Can't understand the attraction myself.

Their menu is just as good as the other Gullivers tho, when its quiet enough to enjoy a meal.

Frosty
