What's best is what suits you. All the browsers are okay, and all of them MIGHT give trouble on your particular computer.   I use them all at various times. I do like Chrome the best - it's fastest,

Trust them how, or with what?   .

you may have a problem trying to buy an APPLE PC.

I would recommend FIREFOX

I also like Chrome but you may come across problems with online forms and even forum software like the one used here, so I stick with firefox.

I went with chrome after it was recommended on here. It's good. Better than the Firefox that I was using.

I use them all at various times. I do like Chrome the best - it's fastest, it's EXTREMELY robust. That's for me of course.

Heck, they're all free. Try them each for a week, see what's best for you.

What you're describing sound like properly functioning IE to me. Forgetting every other reason people give for hating on it, I don't use it because it's slow and clunky, and it's prone to mysterious lockups.

I use Sea Monkey from Mozilla. It's the descendant of Netscape.

Google Chrome by far is the best of all the ones I have tried. I haven't tried them all, so there may be a better one out there. IE Explorer is too slow for me and Firefox kept locking up on me and proved to be a royal pain in the ass. Therefore and until it gives me problems I will stick with Google Chrome.

Chrome all the way, very fast very feature rich and probably the most innovative at present.

Google is fast surpassing Microsoft who are (always have) lacked innovation!

I'm sure mickeysoft would beg to differ, but according to these statistics (see link below) Firefox surpassed

ms-internet exploiter as the most popular browser two years ago this month. Google Chrome is coming on strong.

I just don't trust Google anymore than mickeysoft so I've been hesitant to check out Chrome.

Why not try this then

Comodo Dragon

I think it is the Chrome Browser without Google spying on you

I booted over to ms-windows and downloaded and install it and it is very impressive. It does take some getting use to as far as how to access the bookmarks, etc.

However, I can't honestly say it is any faster than Opera 11.01, and, imho, Opera has a better looking interface.

I have Internet Explorer as my browser.

I don't even know what a 'browser' is...lol.

But are you gents saying that I would be better off changing to Google Chrome...Firefox....or Comodo Dragon?

So if I was to download 'Comodo Dragon'.....do I just click on the link....and follow the directions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, installing another brower is pretty straight forward. Pay attention to any questions.

Getting the default browser sorted seems to be a bit of messing, but you can import all the favourites easily from IE.

I was very pleased with the way Firefox worked after using IE for years.

I hope not. You shouldn't change what is working well for you. But on the other hand

- If your current browser isn't doing well, then you should change and consider the alternatives

- You can install half a dozen browsers, try them out one by one, see what you like

What jacko said about installing any new program - pay attention when it stops and asks you a question. Other than that, there are at least a dozen very good browsers, one or some of which you might not like at all.

I was a long time user of Firefox but over the years it has gotten bloated with junk and has slowed down. It appears to be going the same route as Opera. I liked Opera before they added all the junk.

I had problems with Chrome crashing quite often but it seems better now. Lately I have been using Comodo Dragon and have had no problems. I think Comodo is identical to Chrome except for the added security features. I prefer a simple browser but do want add ons such as an ad blocker and email notifier. Comodo has those add ons.

  • 1 year later...

I had a problem with Chrome this morning. It wouldn't recognize my Yahoo mail inbox. It would tell me that I had an error 14 and to try again later. I went to yahoo help and did everything they suggested, but nothing helped. I could look at my mail on my smartphone, so it wasn't a real big problem. I tried sending a message to Yahoo as I thought it was their problem, but never did get any response. So I uploaded FireFox and I could open my inbox. I then uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled it and it is working fine now. Don't have a clue what the bug was, but glad it was such an easy fix. I am running a full scan of my computer for malware and viruses right now. It will be a couple of hours before I have any results from that.

Anybody else have this problem in the past?

Suffice to say I have had problems 'come and go' with my Yahoo mailbox. I am a Firefox user. Often after an an 'upgrade'. You rarely get an admission of guilt, and the solution may take several days to appear on the bulletin boards. Sounds like you handled it well. I have kept IE there for exactly those reasons, to determine if it is a browser or Yahoo issue. I aways go back to FF as soon as I can.

I think both Chrome and Firefox have occasional glitches. I had a lot of problems with Firefox and changed to Chrome. Chrome had problems so I tried to go back to Firefox. I finally uninstalled Firefox and all the settings. I reinstalled the latest version and Firefox is once again my default browser. I would rate Firefox and Chrome as being way better than IE. Both Firefox and Chrome can import all your bookmarks and some other settings from each other so it's not difficult to swap back and forth.
