Queen Victoria Reviews, Experience, Etc?

Is the owner a BM? Still trying to patronize same.

I like the Penthouse Suite and the location shall we say is interesting. And living above saloon is very Coronation Street-like.

Any pros and cons from experience?

Cons: No lift, stairs are tricky in sandals when drunk, I don't care for "Running the Gauntlet" to get to my hotel. After hours, "The Gauntlet" is even worse, with voracious ladyboys that linger near the rear exit. I'm sure there's a pun in there somewhere....

Pros: Just about everything else. Quality room, great value, good food. Judged on the room alone, best I had in Pattaya.

Running the gauntlet is what, you enter the bar to get to the stairs with your TG? And at night there is a separate entrance with a key etc.?

Have you seen the penthouse suite?

Oh lord, you've never been to Soi 6?

At night (after 11, I think) the bar is closed, so you use the rear entrance, which is staffed by a guard. the "soi" running behind the Vic was SWARMING with ladyboys.

Nope, never saw the penthouse, I stayed in deluxe type 1

If you're with a TG when you come back at night the LB's do not bother you.

I've come back alone at around 3am the worse for wear and had the odd LB grab my nuts and make me an offer but a smile, a quick gentle pat on the arse and a polite "no thanks" has always worked.

As for the Queen Vic, would'nt stay anywhere else!

Had a quick look in the penthouse suite but if you think a jaccuzi and a large TV is worth an extra 1100 bht a night...up to you.

Vic isn't a BM.

Excellent place to stay, have stayed there several times myself. Decent food and a decent choice of western beers on tap. It's a british pub stuck in the middle of the seediest street in the world!!!

Excellent place to watch the activities going on in Soi Sex!!!

Cons....... just the ladyboys try to ambush you on your way back to the QV late at night. I've never had a prolem with them, but one afternoon a mate of mine was pushing a pram down Soi 6/1 and he still got ambushed!!! :whistling:

Spot on Tim. I've stayed there many times and the LBs now know me so my polite "no thanks" isn't necessary any more. Was there again for Xmas and had a great time.

I've never stayed at the Queen Vic but I've eaten there many times. Good pub grub and the beer is cold. More then decent Sunday carvery. Plus you have all the benefits of soi 6. BTW that's my favorite soi. :thumbup

As said by others the penthouse / jasmine suite is nice but expensive and it's a long way up those stairs after a skinful of ale , some one said they had a bad meal in the vic , i must admit i to have had the odd ( Dodgy ) meal in there but i still go there to eat and in general it's pretty good food and they sell british beer's which is a bonus for me....!

Some day I'm going to spend a week or two staying on Soi 6. I've never stayed at the Queen Vic, but I do stop by once in a while to have a bite to eat. Anyway, at least a few of the bars on the Soi have rooms for rent at a reasonable price. I'm not sure, though, which ones require entering via a back door after hours.

Has anyone ever tried the Tornado Bar right near Second Road? They rent rooms, and some of the girls there are fun to talk to.

Have stayed in the jasmine suite a few times. The differences from the deluxe rooms are, micro-wave, large plasma tv and cable set showing all the premier league games, cinema surround dvd. separate seating area with coffee table, massive 7ft wide bed comfortably accommodated 3. separate Jacuzzi room with wall mounted plasma and wifi throughout.

The one down side as already stated, is having to use the rear entrance on a night and fend off the ladyboys,
