No. I'd been to see my tilaks newly bought condo nearby and there was a German beer festival on there. (ambassador)We were sat at one of the guest beer stands. The only people participating as it goes, though to be fair it was early. Around 6ish. Anyway, the Ruskis were littered around the pool, in small groups, looking sullen, and not talking to each other. Just an observation, but a factual one which married up with what i'd seen of them during the day while they were shopping on beach rd etc. We had two drinks and then our taxi arrived at the gate and we had to walk up to get it. When we left the Reds were still ignoring each other in small family units and looking miserable. look, i'm hamming this up obviously now, but i'm not sure why you are like a dog with a bone. I didn't try to speak to them in Russian because i don't know any. I don't have to as i speak the world tongue which is undeniably English. As i am a regular visitor here i made it my business to learn enough Thai to be able to hold a conversation and became familiar with local customs and culture, as many farangs do. Sauce for the goose?

<!--quotec-->I don't agree. If you observe a group of farangs in most holiday situations you will see them in light hearted conversation, a bit of winding up going on, laughing and joking, backslapping etc. You will also see interplay between different groups of farang.

I repeat, the majority of Russians i've seen in Patts though undoubtably a well groomed and attractive bunch, tend to stick in their immediate family groups, avoid interplay with other groups farang OR Russian, and have a sullen demeanor. Up to them, their holiday. That is just my observation. Language barriers are broken down all over the world pretty easily if the will is there, and in any case that doesn't apply to their aloofness with fellow Russian family groups.<!--QuoteEnd-->

And did you try to speak to them in russian?

I've had nothing but good experiences with the Russians and Ukrainians in Patts. Great guys who were just like you and I, wanting to have a beer and shoot the shit about the little chicas in the bars. One cannot lump tens of millions of people into a single bucket, are italians like germans? Are east coast americans like americans from texas? Are colombians like mexicans?

It just doesn't work that way.

Are there some Brits in Patts right now trying as hard as they can to be total asses? Assuredly so, just like there is an Australian, American, and German guy trying to do the same.

Im sure there are a few terrible guys as well, but Pattaya is convenient for them to travel to. Elsewhere it would be the italians or maybe the mexican gangs or whatever.

Now that being said, damn are some nice tits of some of the russian girls in patts. Thats all that really matters at the end of the day

Humans basically are good people (except the trully evil ones like hitler!) , just need a little more understanding from both sides. Maybe you were unlucky to have met the families but parents tend to have a defensive mode coz of our parental instincts. Seeing things from another side of the fence makes a whole lot of difference.

I'll buy me a beer at Loy Krathong and I'll show the sanuk side from another race besides falangs. :chogdee

BTW, what's the tea-party got to do with the OP? :clueless

If BigD posted that the sky was blue one of you "BigD Vultures" would accuse him of advertising for the "SkySlops".

The OP said he was a tea party member.

Nobody accused BigD of anything prior to him mentioning Skytops himself. Besides he wouldn't mention blue sky unless it was to point out how little he paid for it. :whistling:

Once again, Big D makes an innocent comment on the topic . . .

. . . and woooosh, here come the vultures. :devil

Sky Top would not have been mentioned if TheFiend hadn't thread-fucked with his BigD obsession. Seriously, you guys need to get a hobby. Might I suggest :wanker

give it a rest , one of you anklebiters brought it up, like they always bring it up anytime Bigd posts.

You Bigd fantatics are the biggest thread fuckers on here.

So the guy stretches the truth occasionally and spins a bit of bullshit , its mostly harmless and he wouldnt be the first on here to do so

Give the guy and us members a break , or keep it in one thread :whistling:.

BigD has a history of asking other BMs about other places to stay in Funtown but always goes back to the same old hostel. It wasn't intended as a threadfuck.

Impossible to be specific when talking about an entire race of people, one can only generalise and accept it's limitations.

When I was there in January I was breaking my neck left and right getting nice view of the countless sexy russian women walking around Pattaya!! I mean they were everywhere!

Now when it comes to te bars, agogos, movie theaters, etc etc. I did not see any Russian people in or around those places.

I heard some guys talk about it during a bar crawl. They said the Russians arrive on a pre-paid package tour and have NO MONEY to spend upon arrival when it comes to P4P scene/nice resturants/disco teques/jet skis etc etc.

Wrong... see the restaurants specialised on the russkies on the WS ( even the musicians are russians playing russian songs )

Many GOGO girls reported me the russian scenario: Visiting the bar with the russian girlfriend... a few hours later the male russian returns, paying the barfine, the ST room and an LDOP salary for the girl... he spent max 20 minutes in the bar and all in all spent 2500- 4000 baht...

There are a lot of wealthy russians in Pattaya, a few years ago it seemed that they were taking over the place. Doews anyone remember Red House bar on Soi Chayappoon, whole building and inside were painted red. great place to go, run by a huge russian guy built like a stone pyramid. About the same place where Canterbury Tales is now.

I dont think they have NO MONEY to pay for extras ; just no need to spend more than enuff.

Same same chinese and indian tour groups ; I guess. Why should they pay more when they've already paid for the whole package.

They come on a package holiday with there wives or girlfriends who are normally pretty hot themselves, so why would they go out and risk getting busted just to pay for pussy when its there for them already?

I'm still more then satisfied with Sky-Top but since I've survived three strokes. I find I'm having difficulty climbing stairs. I'm looking to move to a hotel with elevator service.

Try Arcadia mansion on second road soi 14. Nice clean rooms, good AC, and only 600 baht a night (580 baht if you book for a week). Yes, and they have an elevator. Also quiet if you get a room at the front of the hotel.

Im sitting out past Koh Larn now on a boat with a Russian family. As with all of my Russian clients they are very well behaved and a pleasure to have on-board.

What you have been subject to is nothing more than propoganda, propogated by people who have no idea what Russia (or the old USSR) is or was about. Communism was so bad that when they started "democratic" elections, the comunists were voted back IN. The Russian people are a pleasure to be with and I for one am happy to see their increasing numbers in Pattaya.

The naysayers always come up with the "rude atitude" but try talking to a yank in a foreign languae (Thai is a good one to try here) and all you'll get is an ever increasing level of volume as they try to get you to understand what they want. HINT - doesnt matter how loud you yell, if they dont speak English you're pushing shit up-hill. The Russians have a similar problem in that MOST of the OLDER ones dont have any grasp of English or Thai so what many interpret as "rudeness" is little more than frustration.

As for the greatest "evil" of all time - ask the murderers who spat out that crap, then look into what they did to the USSR during the transitional time of the 80s - You may find iout who the real criminals in this world are.

Cheers :allright: Admiral Ken

PS there was NEVER a travel ban on Russian citizens - more BS from the US

You are obviously anti-american. So be it. But if you remotely compare the crimes committed by Stalin to the problems that beset Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union, you are not only an ignoramus, but an apologist in the worst sense for the greatest evil of our times. Stalin, by almost any measure, was far worse than Hitler. As to your assertion that there was never a "formal" ban on Russians traveling abroad you are probably correct. That was never the formal policy of the Soviet Union (which you seem to swallow hook, line, and sinker). But let me put it to the members of this board if their experiences are similar to mine. I am an experienced traveler. Prior to 1989 and the fall of the Soviet Union, I never once met a tourist from Russia. If there was never a formal ban, there was most certainly a de-facto ban. So I will venture a guess. You are a big fan of "Red" Ken, the commie mayor of London.

I never met a tourist from Russia either before 1989, but if you have no money you can't travel abroad on holiday.

I aggree though that travel abroad would have been difficult before the fall of communism. I was working in Kiev last year and the Ukrainian girl that was translating for me told me that the people of the USSR were told that they were the most advanced country, that the people in the west had nothing compared to what was available to them. She was then amazed when she went to the States on a sports scholarship or team visit :clueless and needed new trainers at the choice available to her as there was none in her country. That was when the penny dropped for her.

So a couple of reasons there why they didn't travel, no money and no desire due to what they were told by the authorities.

It would be a little more accurate to say suffered 3 strokes, due to lifestyle, smoking, love of the Great American ribs etc etc. Excercise might well be a benefit.

Mommy probably wouldn't let you go any further than the end of the street then.

I've worked in both the former Soviet Union, a number of the member states of the CIS and later former Soviet Republics. (Ive also worked in the USA) My wife (from Moldova - when I met her a Soviet Republic) was a professor of English at the University of Kishinev and I had many opportunities to talk with her friends and family. I'm not going to try and educate you peckerhead as you're obviously too brainwashed but I can assure you that many of them had travelled (without restriction) and my wife had been to New York before I met her, with a University exchange program. It assisted us greatly in procuring her visa to travel to Australia as she already had the passport and prior travel.

Frequent topics of discussion with her friends and family related to world events and I admit I was initially shocked, I too had been fed the BS about their ignorance and travel restrictions etc. These people were genuinely warm and great fun to be with. In the city areas they were far better informed and educated than many of the places I've travelled to - and that's a lot. The country areas resemble the country areas of Issan (without icicles and snow in Winter) and I find the people in both areas warm and accomodating, unfortunately both groups tend to be less educated than their city compatriots - but no less happy. I honestly prefer the "country" folk and will eventually retire to Issan in an environment where the worries of the so called "educated world" can go by without any of us noticing, or caring.

I'm not really anti US (really) but I AM ANTI BS. Uneducated trolls like you are the tools that the propoganda artists use to spread their lies and deception. The US just happens to be the world leader in propoganda at the moment but it has meny rivals for the position, including but not limited to: the UK, France, Australia, Israel and many muslim nations. Before you judge a people live there, visit the many different levels of society, clear your mind of pejudice and OPEN YOUR BLOODY EYES and ears. The world is very different to what you'll read on the internet or what your government wants you to see in the media.

I need to get back to work - I have a group of Russian tourists to take out on the boat tomorrow and have some preparations to do.

Cheers :gulp: Admiral Ken
