What are the biggest urban myths in Pattaya / Thailand?

Recommended Posts

My! What an outburst! I have upset you, haven't I? :grin Must mean I'm doing something right.

Not that it will matter to you, but I've never been on your Facebook page under any identity. You must be confusing me with one of 800 million other people.

You should have learned by now that your petty name-calling doesn't bother me. It only highlights your inability to take part in a reasonable debate. Remember, all games in the end are a matter of last man standing.

Are you still sure he wouldn't mind?

Oh, no my dear... you write really good... but knowing your spineless character, you are the one less who disturbing me... ( Obsession at least believe in what he write )

OK... a simple question: if you are not sneaked in with a fake identity, how do you can comment??? :whistling:

I have no idea what you are talking about - I never visited your Facebook page, much left a comment. Why do you think I did? Can you take a screen shot of the message I'm supposed to have posted? And what do you mean by "fake identity?" Do you believe Evil Penevil is my name IRL?

Urban myth; Stereotype; Other overgeneralization - different things. Aren't most of the foregoing one of the latter two?

Uhh... ohh... a lie ?? How do you know about it ? If not...:whistling: maybe the comrades on the L3 warned you in the Secretology ?

A hint.... on the FB, most of the people are with their real identity, just like myself.... The FB for the real people not for the Xenu believers...despite many abuse it with their fake identity to winding up... just like the faceless keyboard warriors like you... I let in some fake IDs to the Pattaya page, but not on my own FB page....

I'm sad to agree with you... It wasn't my intention... but when I'm called I must to reply and not to swallow the personal attacks...If and when the Xenu brigade want to dispute my thoughts I will be very happy to do it..... but when they try to discredit my personality I must to defend myself, not my thoughts... And sorry again.... I'm agree 100% with you..

Well at least you don't try to deny it! I have to give you credit for that. You're certainly a character on the forums that's for sure.

Bigger urban myth about Thailand: Thai food in Thailand is better than Thai food in Los Angeles.

Could you explain that myth? Also, where I can find the myth?

I know there is very excellent Thai food available outside of Thailand, but what is the myth? That food in Thailand is worse than in California? Or what? And who says so? I eat a LOT of Thai food in the USA, but I've not heard anything like this.

I don't know whether it's a myth or not, but my opinion is that Thai-style food is far better in Thailand than in California. Reason: The ingredients (fruits and vegetables) are *far* better (how could you not notice this?)

While mentioning this to another person, I am told that fruits/vegetables in Hawaii are likewise better. So maybe there is something about tropical climates that makes better produce.

jewellers can hardly tell the difference between a fake Rolex and the real thing

My daughter work for a well experienced jeweller. He says that copies are so good now that you have to take the back off to be sure.

back to the thread.

" you can buy cheap electronics and phones in Thailand"

in my case same price as australia and you get a warranty.

That's a good shout. I resisted the temptation to buy my first mobile phone for many years, blissfully happy without one.

Bought my first one in Thailand, 2004, and was astounded to find out it was actually cheaper back home.

Epic fail on my part.

Yes.

Care to explain your myth about Thai food, because I've not ever heard it.

Sure bored lard, but first tell us what kind of bait do you use?

I'm sorry but I don't get it. Either there is an urban myth that I've missed about Thai food at home and abroad - or there isn't. I have to guess now that there isn't. The thing that's curious is why you'd make it up. Weird.

Jeez, Joe, come on. First, you will constantly run the risk of mis understanding posts, if you simplistically analize,(whoops, slipped). er analyze, everything you read. What doesn't always shine the light of truth on a statement Joe, is that literal deductive or inductive reasoning you employ ad nauseum tends to fall short of full understanding of what the post was. A joke, a missive Joe, a satirical comment. And yes, it oftens defies logic.

For literary license that's been happening since the written word, I find it weird that you find this weird. Whats weird is you being so "up in your head" with your responses and your seeming obsession with being right.

Second, you have this annoying tendency to challenge the veracity of posters for sport. I don't think it's for uncovering "truth", unless it's convenient and "fits" for you. There is usually some secondary psychological gain for this behavior, what is it for you Joe? You seem to enjoy fishing for "gotchas", and hide behind your vague and murky employment of logic, and reasoning tools. Whoopee shit. So much for bait though.

Third Joe, you tend to like putting the "bait" out, so let's de bate. if I have to decipher this for you ok. With anticipation of a call for citations I'll continue. The post was a tougue in cheek, loose take on an urban myth in Los Angeles, which goes like this. "Mexican food in Los Angeles is better than Mexican food in Mexico". So, Joe, to further your understanding and to de-weird it for you, what I did was substitute Thai food for Mexican food, and Thailand for Mexico.

Gross overgeneralization, mistruths, for sure. Humor Joe. I was going for the funny bone, not the frontal cortex. The fact you didn't get it, only further affirms my assertion of the limits of your sometimes not so subtle bait, bully, and run strategy. Lighten up man, and it's all so groovy if you get erotic stimulation from winning arguements, but man up and admit you don't have it all figured out. You'll appear more real for it.

Okay. I didn't get it, totally admitted that. I get it. Thanks. Guess it's true that when you have to explain jokes, they aren't all that funny.
