Why is it always this way? Woke up this morning to find no water running from the taps. Why does it always happen in the rainy season? Water, water everywhere, nor any a drop to park my breakfast with. :angry2:

Seems to be that way doesn't it....... I think mine was off Sunday morning. (I am of the impression weekends are common problem times too.) Fortunately I just switch my pump on and start using it from the storage tank, incoming supply is always back before I can empty that. Edited by jacko

I'm not surprised with all the new condo/hotels going up in Pattaya.

Far worse this year than 2 years ago...

I was at Huai Chak Nok yesterday, it's the second biggest Pattaya reservoir, in direction of Huai Yai

I just never saw it so low in more than 10 years here :(

These rocks covered of (dead) mussels certainly didn't use to be out of water :(

Pattaya do need rain, a lot of regular rains during a long time

Without that, there will be very big water problems in first months of 2015 :(

I agree, having a garden I am always looking for rain.

The rumbling thunder seemed to pass me by today.

This time last year my seep-aways were working in reverse and I was pumping them out over my wall until the owner of the land came complaining.

(It is okay for him to light fires and spread shit which cause smoke and ash and fly swarms.)

I had many squelchy areas and neighbours a little lower had bigger problems.

Dry like rock today.

Idefix, 2 years ago, we had that huge flood on Sept 12, 2012 that flooded all the bars on the beach side of Walking Street and caused much hardship throughout Pattaya.

As I recall, that was the year when they were trying to push water out of the Chao Phraya River into the sea in Bangkok with outboard motor boats (LOL).

Was it really that dry that year?

I didn't pay attention to the water levels in the reservoirs at that time, so don't know if the rain was sufficient to fill them, but I do know that seemed to be the wettest September I could recall.

This month has been, with the exception of that one big rain on the 14th, dry as I can ever remember for Sept.

Let's hope the rain comes in October this year then.

Hi MM. I said "2 years" because of the thread in which I posted, who is from July 2012 ;)

It was a dry period, and that years technicians at MapPhrachan lake had to add new tubes

in the lower part of the lake to be able to continue to pump water :(

I saw them working on it when I went to the summer Buffalo Races

Don't remember when the rain arrived that year,

but main flooding's were late September / early October :

I hope we will not have too much big flooding this year.

Far better to have mainy medium rains that few strong ones to re-fill reservoirs

If you don't have a tank you really should get one. Unfortunately our water comes from the government straight into a tank under our house. That means no electric, no pump. No pump, no water, toilet flushes, showers, etc. As a reserve the Mrs keeps a 30 gallon drum in the downstairs bathroom so can always shower up country style if necessary

Rain seems o be concentrated around the go-kart track near Bali Hi. Every time my son goes it pours.

Lake Makrophan…sp also looked very denuded last time I was over there. I agree it's been much drier this year. These things average out….eventually.

So that's the answer. The rains fill up the reservoirs that have drained almost to the bottom. They come just in time.

So the water pressure is lowest when the rains are heaviest, like tonight.

Hi. A visit to the 2 main reservoirs of Pattaya this afternoon.

Compared to 10 days ago we can barely see the effect of the rains we had in this period. :(

We would need at least 10x more rain to see a noteworthy increase of these lakes' level...

Lake Huai Chak Nok :

Sure doesn't look like a rainy season sky...

On the way

We have to hope it will rain again and more in the 5 next weeks,

because of that:

Must have just missed crossing paths with you Friday. From a little bit earlier than you...

I think Mabphrachan has benefited somewhat from the recent rains. Two weeks earlier there was a land bridge from below where I was standing to the rounded point of land on the right side of this pic. That land bridge is now underwater.

In 2006 (or 05?) you could walk across Lake Mabprachan. It is reputed that the authorities "discovered" a number of human bodies in amongst the mud.

In2007/08 the water authority decided they needed to increase the size of the lake and spent some months digging the end around the Pong Tambon office. There were trucks full of dirt going up and down the road from early morning till late :angry2 Trashed the road. It seems that was not as resilient as they had hoped.

Where is the Pong Tambon office?

This year they've been digging out the North end. It wasn't until a few weeks ago they cleared out the trucks and diggers in preparation for the imaginary rainy season.

This pic shows the area they were working on. You can see on the other side of the reservoir where they were dumping the dredging spoils. Not sure what they're doing over there. There's a shitload of large rocks piled up at the moment. Not sure what they're developing the area to be used for; park maybe?

It seems from they are still working on the same area. It is nearest to where the water authority has their pump points. They were dumping the soil in an area to make some "park land", The last time I looked it was a very Thai job with trees being planted but no real system to the park.

Pong TAO is on the north west side of the northern end of the lake. The "sports ground" where they do aerobics in the evening is opposite the Tambon Administrative Office.
