I agree. The decision to leave him on the bench was a tactical decision that probably would have worked if it wasn't for the very harsh decision to send Nani off for what should have been a yellow card. Rooney has to start one big game on the bench and the media whip up the hysteria by saying he is unhappy and will move on which isn't going to happen, Rooney will stay until he retires in my opinion. He needs fifty-five goals to beat Bobby Charlton's all time scoring record which he will achieve and then become a legend at Old Trafford.

I cant agree regarding the sending off in fact he kicked out at the end, I am wondering if Ferguson will play him again he knows it was a daft thing to do, always a pity when there is a daft sending of in a big/good match it happened in a few Liverpool v Man Utd matches early on ruins it...

Game was well balanced and Man utd were in control until Nani had a head off, as an aside if he never knew the guy was there why did he not just chase the ball..

The weekends game v Chelsea will be a contest though ...

If Man Utd had gone through they could have gone all the way, Bayern Munich are the side this year its seems, thats why Ferguson had the hump with Vidic back and RVP they had a shout this year..

I have a bad feeling in the water re- the Chelski FA cup tie. So often you see clubs go tumbling out of 1 cup after another at this time of year. Hope I'm wrong (and I invariably am )!

As to the twitter tweet ; Rooney does whatever Sir Misery tells him :dbh : So I would expect Coleen to be sent packing before long; should she persist ! :brokeheart :llaugh

That's football I'm afraid. United aren't exempt from having very bad decisions go against them, contrary to what the anti-United brigade think.

Things happen quickly in football and I don't blame him for attempting to bring the ball down in that fashion, he was only trying to do something he has done thousands of times before. I think that if you put your foot up like that then you are asking for trouble but there was no intent to harm the other player because in the replay you can see he had his eye on the ball and the opponent was coming from the opposite direction so he wasn't even aware of him I doubt, it was a yellow card at worst.

It sure will be. I'm hoping they can bounce back and beat Chelsea well, if they can do the double then it will be a great season for them. I have wanted them to win the FA cup for a few years now because they are after all, the most successful FA cup side and it's high time they won it again. It seems like a long time since I watched them beat Millwall to win it in 2004 at the Millennium Stadium.

I'm sure they could have done. One of the good things about being a United fan is there's always next season to look forward to in the Champions League........

I think they should have a sin bin, give the other side a 10 or 20 minute advantage, then normal play resumes... Much fairer for the fans who have spent a fortune to go and watch what should have been a fabulous game

I felt sure it was tried very briefly somewhere; and had very little effect, apart from making the game very boring for 10 minutes or so. (Ultra defensive and time wasting galore.) The loss of a man is far less a disadvantage than in rugby (where it works quite well), over short periods of time. However, I couldn't find any confirmation of that, so maybe I was dreaming it up. :clueless Edited by Fatboyfat

Good point in theory its a good idea, but as yo say teams would park buses for 10 mins...

Hi,

Champions Manchester City struggle without Toure and Khun in a difficult away game at Liverpool. Great win for Villa against QPR which gives them a great chance of survival. Southampton also win against Liverpool who must have found the long journey to the south coast too taxing.

Hi,

Champions Manchester City seem to be recovering their form as the season ends. Champions of Europe, Chelsea, have an off day on the south coast. Arsenal are showing themselves up for the fight with them and Spurs for Champions League places. Man Utd prove too strong for a struggling Sunderland who sack their manager. O'Neill has been successful in the past but has struggled in this role. Sunderland look like a good Championship team and that's where they might be playing next season.

I think Arsenal are going to take Third Spot leaving it to Spurs, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool to battle for Fourth. Spurs and Chelsea both got potentially another 5 European games and Chelsea still in the FA Cup. That's going to be tiring leaving the way open for the two Liverpool Teams. Chelsea V Spurs will be a huge game so will Spurs V Everton and Spurs V Man City.

Come on you Spurs.

Hi,

It's a good scrap for the Champions League places. Spurs have been better than Arsenal this season but have to finish the season unlike last year.

Hi,

A good weekend so far for wac as Aston Villa and Southampton both win. I never have a bet on my own team, Arsenal, but was happy to see them go into the top 4. Shouting for Moyes and his blue machine today. :D

I think Everton could nick a win today at the Lane.

That will leave it very tight for the third and fourth spots.

Hi,

Just heading to the pub. Everton will give Spurs a good game. Worth backing on the Asian Handicap IMO.

Tomorrow is the big one. An excellent opportunity to show City we are still their lords and masters. If United win then it's eighteen clear with seven games left. Goodnight Vienna.

Don't you think they might be setting things up for a more exciting finish to the season?

Hi,

So I'm not the only one. :bhappy I won't watch tonights game. The season is over. Well done to RVP for winning it for Man Utd. He dosen't need to do anything else this season as he has done enough. Put your feet up and wait for next season lad.

The RVP nonsense is a lazy excuse you might expect from Mancini, not the illustrious members of Pattaya Talk. Collectively, De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Kagawa, Buttner and Welbeck is what makes the difference between Utd and the remainder. The Feb/Mar results tell the story. Oh, and SAF!

Just reading about the long-term deals Utd have struck ... I wonder which airline is going to chuck 100m a year at them - my guess would be Qatar.

Are you insinuating that the league could in some way be fixed?

The season is over.

The race for the title is but there are many teams in the league that don't look at it that way yet.

Hi,

How do you explain United's failure in Europe and their defeat by Chelsea in the FA Cup ? Not trying to rain on your parade.

Hi,

How do you explain United's failure in Europe and their defeat by Chelsea in the FA Cup ? Not trying to rain on your parade.

Europe - victims of a terrible decision that completely changed and influenced the the game against Real Madrid because up until the sending off they were the better side and looked like they were going through. If that was a sending off then why didn't Benzema get sent off in their last Champions League game? Exactly the same sort of challenge but no card. Shit happens - despite what the anti-United brigade think they very often have bad decisions go against them. Deal with it and wait until next season, one of the good things about being a United fan is you know they'll be back in the Champions League next year looking to win it.

FA Cup - another season where Fergie has picked the wrong team in an FA Cup game in the latter stages of the competition which has cost them the tie. There was no reason at all to pick anything other than a full strength side as the league is virtually wrapped up and no need to rest players. I am convinced that Fergie isn't bothered about winning the FA Cup again, that is not the first time he has picked under strength sides when there is no need to, he did it against City a couple of seasons ago and he did it against Everton in the semi-final a few years back. As a United fan I am very disappointed they didn't win the FA Cup this season, it seems a long time since I witnessed them win it in 2004. United are the most successful FA Cup team in history and to go ten years without winning it isn't good enough in my opinion.
