I really got used to the comfort of their Evergreen Deluxe Class, so I was shocked to hear today that - starting with Mid march - they will upgrade to new airbuses without this class on the Vienna Bangkok route.

I went to my travel agent and booked Royal Jordanian for my April trip today.

Anfd this desaster happened the day after I picked up their Silver Card in the mail.

You think that's bad? I just checked airfares on EVAs website a few hours ago, and EVD class is priced up from $795. USD to $2069.00 Hope those prices come down, or I'm heading back To Mexico. Maybe I'll press my luck and fly China A/L

El Tib,

I am flying Eva in April! and am very happy to hear that they will be introducing their new fleet (A330) before then! but before booking with Eva! I too looked on Eva's website! (uk) and for the same flight that I am using now! they wanted around £1060 or something like that! the price I am paying is £475 all in! as well as free return transport to and from London Heathrow! with a uk tour operator called Trailfinders! what gets me is how the hell Eva can charge vast sums of money for their flights on their website and tour operators can charge considerable less  ???

Sparkey,

No worries.  The A330 can't do UK-BKK.  We will have to wait a while yet until Eva receives its Boeing 777ER (Mar 2005?) which will be configured to include a new upgraded Evergreen Deluxe as well as their revamped premium laural business class.  In the meantime, keep accumulating the airmiles.

Regards,

Tom

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. After Quantas

they are my favourite to Los .At that price though it  would make me consider an indirect service and I've never had a good journey that way. I guess we're not getting an air bus it's because it would have to refuel before bkk. Lucky to be a Brit.

The miles are going well . My 3rd trip this year will give me 36 odd thousand.I think that might get me a filght to Pi from bkk but haven't looked into it much yet.

Cheers

Well, Jordanian is probably rather crappy, but at 600€less for roundtrip ........ And I've been to new Airbusses (South African, Lufthansa) with not enogh legroom already ......

So, when I have to suffer, I will do it at least cheap!

(Been quoted €1150 return on Eva Cattle as opposed to 540 for Jordanian for my itinerary, also Flight dates for Eva would mean 2 days less in LOS ...)

Sunny,

Why would you want to forego a non-stop flight on a brand new A330 with a totally revamped economy class product for something like Jordanian? ???

I just purchased EVA Evergreen Deluxe, SFO-BKK, May 28 to June 8, for $1075, which includes a 17:30 departure from BKK, arrival in SFO at 8 PM, which gives only a 4 hour layover. Like you I saw the high prices on the website and called my agent and they got the lower price.

Ty,

I'm hoping it's only a mistake I saw on EVAs website. When I put in queries for econ class no prices were avaliable for then. I'll be viglant till April, because I bet the prices have to do with Tourist season which ends this month.

I don't know, EVA has always had better prices if you booked directly through their website. It will be a shame if I don't get to reap some benefits from my silver Card I just received.

Sunny,

I understand your point now.  The problem , no matter whom we choose to fly with, is that it is always going to be a compromise regarding price, comfort, convenience etc.  I'm sure Jordanian will prove to be OK.

That said, if you now have lots of EVA airmiles you're looking to offload, drop me a PM. ;)

Regards,

Tom

I have always done better using a travel web page then EVA's own page.  EVA is almost always 1/3 to 1/2 more expensive then a travel web page.  Last time I used ebookers and spent about $1000 on LHR to BKK.  Eva wanted about $1400 for the same trip on their web page.

Stick with the travel agents.  They get better deals. Even with other airlines.

I book Evergreen delux SFO to BKK via EVA website for a trip in March and the price was something like $933.  This was done on the 2nd of Feb.  Maybe the price you are looking at was the unrestricted ticket.  They will quote both prices on your query.  My $933 far comes with certain restrictions.  Give it another shot.   Best of luck.

I've always had great luck with Eva, the travel agent has a $50.00 (2000 baht) booking charge.  If you book a few months ahead of time, the prices are competitive.  Also you can't beat the arrival and departure times with Eva.

cheers

I've booked on the EVA website for my last 2 trips.  I fly out of SFO.

What other websites do you recommend for me to use?

I've tried some but they only have prices for economy.  I will only fly in delux class after trying it.

Thanks

Just jumping in here with my 2 baht...

I think the EVA Airbus' have only Premium Laurel and Economy class.  The thing is, though, from what I've seen on their website is the economy class is more of an E+ (if you're familiar with United).  Definitely not cattle class.

Also, I find EVA's prices to almost always be lower through TAs and consolidators.

I just made a reservation yesterday thru Eva's 1-800# and I paid $957.00 (37323 baht @ 39-1) for Evergreen Deluxe leaving out of LAX March 26th and returning April 8th BEFORE SONGKRAN. :)  The $957.00 even included the connecting flights between Las Vegas and LA on American Airlines.  Not a bad deal considering I leave on a Friday and return on a Thursday, both day are higher prices because they are both considered the weekend.   I'll get 125% miles on this trip and with the miles I already have, I should have enough to fly Evergreen Deluxe on all long haul flights on the 2 trips after this one.

Today I have to mail Eva a money order because I do not own a Credit Card and they will mail me a paper ticket.

cheers

kj

43 days and counting

KJ, found out Thursday's are not a weekend. Last June when I booked my trip for November the a/f was $50.00 less on a Thursday vs. a Friday.
