Agreed many steaks are a disappointment in Pattaya, yet command a price.

I always felt the same way about steaks in the UK. The best results I got were cooking them myself, with a little help from a thread I read here saying how to cook them. I often wonder if it is simply bad cooking.

I am afraid the pic above doesn't look very good and mean with the chips.

How many chips do you need with a pound of meat?

A baker's dozen.

I left most of the chips and took a bit of steak home.

However the steak looked, it was deceptively tender and juicy.

It takes all kinds..

The central point of this post was the surprising quality of the steak and we get the chip counters chiming in.

It's a crazy world.

Good to hear small miracles happen. I brought 1 kg of steak over here from oz for the holiday in the village. Enjoyed

every bite of it.

Thanks, MM. Always useful to know where to get a good steak. I have mostly been disappointed in my quest in the last year.

Just to be clear, you are referring to the "new" place in Soi Honey, aren't you (i.e. not the one in Lengkee)?

What you had was on "special" but do they have anything similar on the regular menu, perhaps at a higher price?

As far as I know, Bazle, it was a "one-of" special..perhaps the meat really did fall off a truck.

"One-of" or "one-off" - clearly a very special special !!

Maybe the last of a batch of steaks being sold off? Are steaks of the imported variety chilled or frozen (frozen steaks are no good in my experience)? Top-grade Thai steak? I saw a thing on French TV recently where French breeders are crossing Charolais with Thai ox-looking cattle - by artificial insemination, presumably because the Thai lady-cattle are not pretty enough(?).

It looks a super steak no doubt about it. I had the special yesterday which was Steak and Guinness Pie with chips which was very nice (299 baht)

It sounds like the steak MM had was/is the special on Saturday. Form an orderly queue then gentleman

Hi,

Hard to beat a good steak but hard to find, as MM states. I'd like this with a nice Cotes du Rhone Villages.

Looks great. There are some good value deals around when buying steak from suppliers - consistency isn't always there though at that price. Top kitchen team, and they have buying power which helps. Nice one, will try it next time it's on..
