This Thai food place on Bong Koch (map link) is getting close to opening.

When I rode past yesterday the parking lot of the place next door was packed with cars lined up waiting to get in. The new place should do well with the spillover effect.

I was on Walking Street last week, had a good time.  Doorman wouldn't let me into Pinup at 7:55 so I went over to XS for a beer, when I came back at 8:30 I was lucky to get a table in the back.  The b

Sanctuary of Truth.  Admission is 500 baht.  Quite busy this afternoon.  They do try to get visitors to stay in groups (50 in our case).  I managed to get lost from the group and did my own thing taki

Good news. You only have to hold your pee for two more weeks until the new Tree Town bathrooms are open. I forgot to ask how much the entry fee will be. I wouldn't be surprised if they up the price from 5B to pay for the fancy new water closets.

Would you happen to know if they have found a sewage line to connect to there, or are we to be treated to tanks being emptied every now and again and a lingering odour?

I don't know the answer to that. My guess is they'll be going the tank route as I don't remember them putting in water or sewage pipes when they built up Tree Town.

The pic below is from April 2022 when they concreted over the back dirt road. I only ever saw them putting in storm water drains, even when they first started construction of TT back in 2016.

I had pics from back then, but unfortunately I lost my local copy of the pics when a hard drive went tits up and the other copy that existed was lost when Ben at Secrets deleted numerous topics on their forum without notice, one of which contained a huge number of photos contributed by BM's over the years. Still can't believe the knobhead did that.

Definitely pipes of some description in the foreground

Thought so as well when I first dug the pic out of the archive, but when I zoomed in on the full resolution shot I could see it's a piece of angle iron.

Or cannot read. If I put it in larger, colorful text, does that help. :chogdee

Well let us hope they simply do not connect to the storm drains!

For all the coffin dodgers that call Nikom Court their local; the longtime daytime boss Patty is celebrating her 50th b'day today. A few of us will be shuffling our way to Nikom at 15:00 to help ease Patty into old age with copious amounts of beer and SangSom.

To surprise her we hung a banner in her honor this morning. Apologies for the crap pic, but the rising sun was causing a lot of glare off the banner.

I had my drone out this morning to train myself on some of its features. One is panorama mode. All I have to do is define the area of the shot by pointing the camera gimbal at the upper left and bottom right corners of the panorama, then touch Start. The drone will do the rest, taking the necessary shots that you can then stitch together in post processing. For that I used Microsoft Image Composite Editor. Super easy and I'm quite happy with the result.

The image below is best viewed by clicking on the image to view in full screen mode.

For a different look at Pattaya, a drone's view over Lala Lake which is just off of Pattaya Tai.

And a view of the lily pond next door, which would make for a more interesting vid when the lilies are in bloom. Vid seems a bit jerky during he pan which might be due to the rather windy conditions during today's flight.

Do you need a licence or permissions to fly your drone in Thailand?

Nice pics, by the way 😀

Crossed my mind too

I seem to recall they were quite draconian towards them in the early days

If you're on two wheels, keep an eye out on Soi 15 for the major cracks and holes in the concrete that was put down only a few months ago.

I'm not so sure this guy's idea of a safety feature for his bike is a good idea. I understand he probably thinks its a good warning device for passing traffic to steer clear of him, but he's also increasing the chance a passing vehicle will hit him via the pole sticking out into their lane.

I remember years ago when they came on the roads in UK

Lots of guys I knew always considered them a 'target' and was cause for debate how many they'd hit

I can see that as well, after all the red dot in the middle of an orange disc is just screaming "hit me". :D

Motorists are annoyed enough with bicyclists, don't see why one would want to annoy them more by sticking a horizontal pole on their bike.

Until now I never saw this type of thing in my years of riding here and in the US. I would never put that type of pole on my bike as it would hinder my ability to maneuver past stalled or slow moving traffic. I would also be annoyed if I was stuck in traffic behind that guy that had to stop because the silly pole sticking out prevents him from slipping past backed up traffic.

The UK ones were commercially produced plastic ones - from memory they could be manually flipped up or down by the push biker.

They were back then basically considered a 'fucking cheek' by most

I was thinking that as I rode into town and back on my little motorcycle yesterday... not only the damaged and bumpy road surface caused by previous burying of drainage and subsequent flooding... but all the damned drain covers which give you a good bump and are impossible to get around. I came home via Sukhumvit for a change, but that has other issues, too much reckless traffic. Damned tourists are coming!
