  1. As you say, the first requirement is that they are labelled as priority, then they have to be separated and loaded on and off the aircraft that way, Pretty sure it happens sometimes, and others not at all. Had a different carrier definitely do that for me as the 'priority' suitcases came off at a different carousel, but nobody saw fit to tell anyone, so of course I was just stood at the wrong place in my usual post flight fog!
  2. It is a touch under 20 this morning!!!

  3. Brr, only 20 degC this morning!

  4. I tried to use online for my last report late November . It was never attended to so I cancelled it and went there instead.
  5. It's raining this morning. That can of paint and the rollers can stay put!

  6. It's raining this morning.

  7. There is a creek that flows into the sea in Naklua too, just where the seasonal weekend Walking St starts on the Banglamung end. Not my idea of somewhere to sit and enjoy a bit of food and drink with the smell but many do. As I looked at it on Sunday evening a big collection of garbage drifted downstream, obviously recently dumped from around the corner.
  8. Manchester security is pretty intense. Some people's bags get selected for search after they are X-Rayed which is perhaps what you mean, Bit of a nuisance when your pants are falling down, you have no shoes on and the laptop has gone missing. I often still have some scrap of metal in my pocket I forget! You are right, you are dodgy looking, but I would expect the family man look would get you through unmolested.
  9. On the way to departures? You mean after main security and before the gate? I have never had any extra search.
  10. Rent a Sontaew and chuck your bike in the back! Knock one of these up for your nights on the hunt!
  11. They can't afford it, or can use the money better elsewhere!
  12. Isn't there a 2 for one happy hour for cocktails that makes it a bit more agreeable? Personally a bottle of krug champers at 32,500 baht would be my choice!
  13. To be honest I agree with The Fiend, that this woman was stupid to try and smuggle all this medication into a Middle East country. It wasn't hers, it was not prescribed to her and she was bringing it for a friend .Anybody with a bit of sense would understand this was a risk, and she should have some knowledge how countries like this work. It is black and white for them and they believe in severe punishment. Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law. If the UK travel advisory is wrong that is not the fault of the Egyptian authorities. I hope she will be released.
  14. Yes I have had problems with their new version and playing Flash. Some sites ask me if Flash can be opened and it will work. Facebook is problematic playing videos, especially when contained in 3rd party site, like Thai Visa. It is all about Firefox blocking Flash to some extent as it 'slows things down'.... I recently had a site telling me to update Flash, (although it is up to date) and then try to load some nasties! Oh and a UKTV streaming site refuses to work so I use Chrome.
  15. I posted elsewhere how China was effectively using money to control, strategic assets around the world, including the port at Darwin, and in Sri Lanka. They offer these poorer countries development wrapped up with a loan and when these countries can't pay back force them to hand over rights to national assets. (They even copy the 99 year lease idea Britain used for the New Territories of Hong Kong) Of course lending to these countries is like lending to a Thai brother in law.
  16. Let's get back to normal!

    1. Goldpanner

      Goldpanner

      Define 'normal' ?

  17. And coincidentally I saw a Likely Lads full length movie on ITV3 only a couple of days ago where they were being maudlin and nostalgic over the past!
  18. I have spent rather a few more hours waiting for the delayed take off of BA 009 than I am happy about over the past years. It was one of the last flights to leave Heathrow of the day and there was always some bloody hold up! (Often didn't find out about it until after walking bloody miles to the gate and having to hang around there). It might have been my last ever BA run where I was all tucked up with my drinkie as they made departure announcements and I looked at my watch thinking 'for once, we might be off on schedule'. No way, they couldn't get the jetway to move and we had to sit there waiting for them to bring a technician. I felt sure some twat had flicked a breaker off before going home to get a triple time call-out!
  19. I flew Lauda Air in Biz Class to Bangkok a few times, it was a class act.
  20. Not really on-topic but the BA flight from Bangkok declared an emergency prior to landing . British Airways mid-air EMERGENCY on Bangkok to Heathrow flight. Daily Express.
  21. In my younger days the Saturday morning hangover was always disposed of with a big plate of Heinz Baked Beans with pork sausages on 4 slices of toast with a mug of tea (and TISWAS on TV)!
  22. It is 220 baht at most banks now, I believe AEON is the only one left taking less.
  23. Wow, that question got in early this year! Travellers cheques exchange rates are displayed in the banks and on their websites. Here for example it is listed under T/ Chqs, and as you can see it is only slightly better than cash, BUT, beware, TChqs are less common these days, and many booths don't accept them. Also there are substantial charges made on those as well, they get their money somehow!! Fees are 153 baht per cheque (up from the previous 33 baht), So higher denominations are best. In Pattaya the exchange booths labelled TT, black on yellow, are common and they offer better cash rates than the banks. The risk is carrying cash, but many do these days.Good rates are offered by Superrich, but they are not available in Pattaya. They have a booth in the main airport. Here is a nice comparison resource.
  24. Sunny weather is back, cool nights though.

  25. I guess he found out it had power then.
