The construction seems to have slowed down, my reason for thinking this is simplistic, all the floor space in the Malls isn't taken up by people hawking condos as it was a few years back! Whether Pattaya property will pick up in price is hard to say, the place does keep expanding and the Chinese rush is on the cards. But when I take a serious look at Pattaya and it's infrastructure and the downright decrepit appearance of most of it's streets and transport limitations I wonder why! If it is a matter of 'somewhere to live', renting should be considered. Rents are cheap relative to new condo prices. The old adage about you paying someone else's mortgage really doesn't apply if you don't expect to live a lot longer. ie an older retired person could rent for 20 years for the lump sum he pays out to buy.... leaving a Thai condo to a distant USA relative isn't as good as the cash! Renting may also be more attractive to the renter in the future with tighter controls and contracts. New laws provide greater protection for people who rent property in Thailand. Property News

To me it is the rectum of the city but traffic was impeded by a fallen tree today that in reality was struggling to survive in an area where green is normally seen in the gutter, This is the soi 15 and Buakhao junction. Finding shade and hearing the birds just got harder.

Had satisfied feedback from people who flew both Economy and Biz Class. I think the transit airport in Muscat is 'underwhelming' but hardly surprising if you compare to the competition at Dubai or Doha. Sounds like a deal.

I usually pay substantially more on my UK flights, flying Biz Class. I have also paid somewhat more on a shorter flight to go from Swampy rather than DMG for reasons you suggest above. As to Pattaya Airport (UTP), Air Asia also fly there directly from mainland China, so there is a chance of getting behind a few hundred of them there too. Have to look what arrives about the same time as Qatar do.

Here you go... try Tossaporn Guest House on Soi Honey, near 2nd Rd end. My pal says he is paying 8000 incl water for a room with a fridge, TV and AC. Google Maps.

I quite often come around the bend on the railway line bypass , heading north just after the railway station to be met with a truck reversing back at me trying to avoid the police roadblock under the motorway flyover.They like it there, shaded!

I had been paying 1200 from Swampy and I believe the other way was 1000, but I was more inclined to drive myself that direction. That was before the extended motorway tolls came in. I thought that was pretty standard although years ago I used the mafia and they were always yellow/green cabs trying to get a fare back to Bangkok and were cheap but came with arguments many times.

The taxi companies may have put their prices up to and from Swampy as the motorway stretch from Chonburi to Pattaya is now also toll road. UTP isn't bad for me as I can get onto Hwy 36, then switch to 331 which pops out on Sukhumvit close to UTP. Although I am also not far from Hwy 7 either. I agree using Sukhumvit from Sattahip to Pattaya is a pretty horrible drive!
