  2. You said 'toll gate'...... is this tunnel going to charge for use? I just don't see that speeding up Sukhumvit traffic!
  3. Phew......afternoon naps back on the schedule.

  4. Well that and your mobility issues seem a lot to handle and risky.
  5. 24hr Hello Dolly
  6. I didn't even know there was a Bangkok Hospital, South Pattaya Branch! I had a bout of food poisoning a month ago... easy this time of year with the heat. I sent my Mrs to go get some 'powders', I was thinking more along the lines of 'Eno's' antacid. She came back with some electrolyte powders which I gave her back... thinking dopey pharmacists! It was only later that I looked them up and realised they were likely a better option than Eno's. Bet mine were cheaper! Glad you recovered.

    Bite Me!

I am guessing he means the black-skinned ones. Pic comes from here...
  8. This place is nearly completed, sorry couldn't be arsed stopping to take pics in 35 degC! Sure went up better than The Harbour Mall...that is a place I have yet to visit and would make a good pictorial review (forcebwithu ???)
  9. That is bad news BigD. Do you really think undertaking a trip from the USA to Thailand is a good idea with this condition....? If you need treatment so frequently, surely the travel time is a great concern, flight delays could be catastrophic. You probably know that you may have to restrict eating while on the flights and arrange dialysis soon after arrival. A six year old thread on Thai Visa Of course everyone will expect the BHP to be able to accommodate you, but the PIH can also help.
  10. I recall in the village the men were sitting around and drinking beer and eating raw pork, which I declined. Not just because I was worried about raw pork, but I was still shaken from hearing the poor beast squealing for 20 minutes as a botch-job of killing it was exercised. My Mrs is particularly fussy and restricts my dining somewhat... no beef, lamb, duck, shellfish and offal. etc etc She avoided ice-cream for years until once sampling mine on a flight, commenting how it tastes good.... she must think I eat these things because they don't!
  11. Excellent information and looks fantastic, sadly I do not have an oven! Be careful, I think this guy is talking degrees Fahrenheit! It would be a waste to turn a nice slab of rib-eye into a cinder-block.
  12. Haha, yes I did Tarom once too, what crap! A lot of fun sitting under armed guard in transit in Bucharest. Not as bad as your experience though! Biman, I recall seeing them listed in Kuwait as I waited, I thought their full name was Biman delayed 7 hours.
  13. That singer guy.... Adam Faith
  14. I guess the dental work has been completed, I hope that went well. Does the Mrs not eat that Thai shrimp dish where it is raw? ( I forget the name)? There are many where it is simply pickled too.
  15. Interesting thoughts on Gulf Butch, I used them a lot when I was working in the Middle East. At that time it was as if they were running a bus service and we often joked how we had visited Muscat, Bahrain, Doha, back to Muscat because some Sheik had called them up and eventually to Dammam! I recall that the seats in economy were small, they were good in business class, and generally good in the air, but on the ground they were terrible Boarding always seemed chaotic. Your Missus may be recalling a past incident where a very inexperienced Gulf Air pilot (local) was attempting to land in Manama and making a pigs ear of it and ultimately crashed. That sure worried me thinking they got some really inexperienced pilots, prior to that the pilot was rarely from the Gulf, many were from Europe, particularly Eastern Europe. I think a lot of Qatar, but I couldn't get a price I liked in Biz Class this year so I am off home via Helsinki this month, trying one of those new A350s.
  16. It looks like the heat has returned.

  17. Always seemed a dubious place for yet another mall, Traffic currently reduced due to the tunnel construction. If they are trying to reproduce the mayhem around the Pattaya Tai Tuk-Com which already keeps me away what a strange idea. I hear this Mall is aimed at kids, including an ice-rink. There is a Harbor Mall in Laem Chabang which is much easier for me to get to. Hopefully there will be some improvement in parking and vehicular access. At the moment I can see it stopping what is already slow Klang traffic, in both directions.
  18. If you feel a need to negotiate, perhaps before getting to the room would be better?
  19. I seemed to get the same impression mostly, except when I stayed at The Nova Park or Residence Garden and they noticed the separate living area and bedroom.
  20. I am surprised you are surprised Atlas, but a good tale anyhow. In my cul-de-sac we used to have a severely disabled guy come around scavenging, pushing a hand cart painfully slowly around the village. I have seen him looking quite pleased with himself when he managed to push said cart down the road containing a refrigerator more than a few times bigger than the cart. Of course many a fridge can be quickly repaired, a simple leak to seal. But even if not, plenty of scrap and recycling value in there. I wonder what has happened to the disabled scavenger, not having him annoy me by stealing all my black bin-bags and tipping the smelly rubbish back into the bin so that the garbage guys refuse the refuse! Perhaps he is further unwell, the heat makes the job too much for him, but I bet that since a certain alcoholic no longer resides in the street, bin-scavenging here is not worth the slight incline.
  21. The on-line menu simply says 'stuffing' which suggests the most common 'sage and onion' is likely used as Fayboyfat says. My mother made such stuffing using the chicken giblets and it never came with roast beef. It is simply breadcrumbs, onion, butter, egg, sage. I have never had a Yorkshire pudding served 'on-it's-own', but a few UK restaurants have served them separate from the main. They are usually large ones and come with a rich gravy. As a frugal Yorkshire man may tell you, it is an attempt to fill you up before the expensive meat is offered!

  23. A bit more rain and a cool spell... pleasant.

  24. Glad to see a positive review...... For me Yorkshire pudding was always an accompaniment for roast beef rather than lamb. Yours appears to be a stuffed one which I like the sound of.
  25. Already used with Lauren Bacall........ Here is one with plenty of choice..... Murder on the Orient Express
