Actually I believe you need a Non-Imm Visa to get a Thai driving licence. Many a person goes ass over tit first time on a motorbike.... it's a right of passage. I recall attending the Fireworks competition a few months back, and walked along the beach from the Dusit to soi 6 area before sunset, it was truly disgustingly litter strewn. As I rode my bike through some casava fields yesterday, a snack bag flew out of a truck window to join many similar, and many much larger items by the roadside. This will keep tourists away.

I think my tightest ever was with KLM in Schipol, made it and surprisingly so did the case. I always consider transfer times when booking, rejecting short ones as airlines struggle to get short shuttles off on time. Also, again as stated, the most common bikes here are fully automatic, twist and go driven, so not much to be learned from them. The learning really starts out on the roads and is fear based. My best idea is to find a good LT beer bar girl who has a bike and practice in condo parking on hers, and progress to maybe riding up and down Jomtiem Beach Rd to build confidence.
