  1. Actually I believe you need a Non-Imm Visa to get a Thai driving licence. Many a person goes ass over tit first time on a motorbike.... it's a right of passage. You appear to know it all so I shan't waste my or your time further! Later Edit: A residence certificate from immigration is actually what is needed. A thread here details both to a degee but more focused on a 5 year renewal.
  2. Coincidentally wifey's nephew in hospital right now after a motorcycle accident this morning hurrying to school. Has a head injury... ....not wearing a helmet of course.
  3. Sometimes people are avoiding the cost of seeing a physician... and the subsequent tests. Particularly true for retirees in Pattaya.
  4. Good post and a problem that seems to be escalating. I recall attending the Fireworks competition a few months back, and walked along the beach from the Dusit to soi 6 area before sunset, it was truly disgustingly litter strewn. A stroll down 2nd Rd to Klang exhibited many piles of fly tipping. Later, sat on the Beach, even the locals were complaining how it looked, and this was before the event started. As I rode my bike through some casava fields yesterday, a snack bag flew out of a truck window to join many similar, and many much larger items by the roadside. This will keep tourists away.
  5. I think my tightest ever was with KLM in Schipol, made it and surprisingly so did the case. I always consider transfer times when booking, rejecting short ones as airlines struggle to get short shuttles off on time. Over 5 hours is rejected outright unless I know there is a good lounge I will be admitted to.
  6. Have you been to Thailand before? It is not place where they are well trained to ride bikes or even think much about it. Firstly you should have a motorcycle licence to even rent a bike, and an IDP. Also, again as stated, the most common bikes here are fully automatic, twist and go driven, so not much to be learned from them. The learning really starts out on the roads and is fear based. My best idea is to find a good LT beer bar girl who has a bike and practice in condo parking on hers, and progress to maybe riding up and down Jomtiem Beach Rd to build confidence.
  7. Is that a 747-400 Butch, doesn't look like it unless it is upper deck? There are 4 seats across middle row on many carriers using 747-400 regulars.
  8. Despite the fear of going off-topic, I do know Atlas is a bit of an expert on bored mothers!
  9. Most bikes here don't have a clutch, and are fully automatic. Do you have a motorcycle licence in our home country?
  10. Back in LOS and glad of it!

  11. Paying for BA Biz Class to and from Bangkok recently. They really let me down on the shuttles to and from Manchester which were an awful experience which made me feel I had cloven hoofs.
  12. What has your nagging got to do with house prices? Subject is 'No Deal Brexit...'.
  13. I feed my laptop to the TV via HDMI, and for my small pad I bought some bluetooth/ wireless earphones which obviously have their own battery. Plug in is not loud enough, particularly on a plane where I wanted to watch videos. (If you fly BA on their ancient equipment you need to bring your own IFE).
  14. I see no charges were brought for them attacking the Man City team coach!
  15. I was informed by my driver that Mr Toom died early in August with liver problems at 49. His son and a partner have taken over the business and no changes of contact details. As usual I booked for my pickup on arrival at Swampy via email, no problems. You have to accompany the driver to the car park and maybe shuffle vehicles to get out but that is standard. Fare from airport to Pattaya area 1200 baht, including all, ie his parking, and the now 100 baht motorway toll. New vehicle this time.
  16. Possibly prices will drop but 35% seems a lot.... when prices fall for other things it is usually a good thing! Yes some may get stuck with negative equity.. is that what we call having a mortgage bigger than the house value? I would expect supply and demand to keep pushing them up myself.
  17. Well the BBC may as well get in on the act..... UK driving licence 'may not be valid in EU' after no-deal Brexit Good, the UK should get rid of those drunk Polish truck drivers who are causing motorway accidents....
  18. Used before, July 2017.
  19. Sky News appear to be fear mongering..... “It is misleading for Sky News to say that 35,000 pilots would need to renew their pilot's licence in a 'no-deal' Brexit scenario. Both commercial and private UK pilot licences would remain valid for use on UK-registered aircraft as the United Kingdom is a signatory to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Chicago Convention. Our licences are internationally recognised - including by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) - both now and after 29 March 2019." Source.CAA
  20. Once Upon a Time in the West.
  21. Yes, and now we can get back into my lifetime..... On Golden Pond
  22. Antibiotics can be bought over the counter.
  23. Walk on the Wild Side.
  24. Flying in and out of the country?
  25. Yes, it does appear faster this morning.
