Just out of curiosity, why do you think that skin tags result from being "fat"? Anyway, there must be a dermatology clinic sonewhere in Pattaya that's not in a hospital.

Need help for bread and butter pickles label in English and Thai
js007 replied to pataya6's topic in Restaurants and food
How did they get their name? I looked it up and, from what I read on a few different sites, the name originated during the Depression. People had bread and butter and maybe some pickles, and started making bread and butter sandwiches with pickles, in lieu of something more substantial. I guess that makes some sense. -

Assuming you're not kidding. You make a bread and butter sandwich and put some bread and butter pickles in as well. I'm not sure how healthy the bread and butter would be, but the pickles are probably OK. -

It's a type of pickles they sell. That's what the label says: "Bread and Butter." Small slices and sweet. I guess people make sandwiches with them, along with butter? I've tried them before and I've tried the bread and butter bit. Pretty good. -
Company name, or foreign ownership?

opening a bank account in Pattaya?
js007 replied to loveless's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Opening a bank account in Thailand is easy. You need some money, an address, and some form of identification. If you want internet access, you'll probably also need a Thai phone number. From my experience, the ATM cards work all over. Just today, I took out a few hundred dollars from my Thailand account here in the USA at a local ATM. I've also used the account in Malaysia. -
Every year there's Cobra Gold, and every year there's a few guys who seem to be worried about the influx of sailors. And yet every time I've seen them out and about, it has been no big deal. A drop in the bucket, really, considering all the people in Pattaya. Buy them a drink, if you see any.
-
Don't forget to check out the student discounts or the military/federal employee discounts if those might be applicable to you. At least in the US, you can save a little bit by buying that way from the Apple online store.

Nominations for yucky food? All the US fast food franchises, to be sure. I tried McDonald's once at the Royal Garden Plaza, just to see if it was as bad as in the USA. It was. I also tried Pizza Hut down by Big C. Sort of a disappointment. I don't mind the occasional Subway sandwich. And a Dairy Queen ice cream cone can be OK.

I'm not sure where this hotel is, but it doesn't sound like a good deal. 2800 per night is a lot of money in Phuket. Why not try some of the guest houses on the Sois behind Jungceylon Mall? Soi Banzaan, for instance. Try Ferb Guesthouse. Or, if you don't like that one, there are five or six more, all on the same block. You should be able to get a room for around 1000 baht. And that would include wi-fi, daily maid service, cable TV, air con, etc. You can walk to Bangla Road in 5 minutes. I can also recommend the Andaman Se Guesthose, over on a small Soi across from Christins Massage.

I think many people just pay cash for the cheaper condos. 1.5 million baht is only $50K or so. Pay the money and be done with it. You've got a cheap place to live, with your only expenses being the monthly condo fee and your water and electric bill, plus any cable TV or Internet.

Viagra, Need a script or.......
js007 replied to mrlasvegas's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Anyone wanting prescription could easily drop into one of the many clinics around Pattaya. Some of them even have big signs up saying "Viagra." I'm not sure if they also sell the stuff. Probably. Whether it's real? -
The condos seem OK, but if I ever bought anything like that, the cheap furniture would have to go. Certainly there must be a place in Pattaya or Bangkok that has decent furniture.

SSD is solid state drive. Like a bunch of flash memory cards for the drive. No moving parts, so there's not much that can go wrong, unlike regular hard drives which have moving parts and can crash.

No the Apple TV gizmo isn't a TV, it's just a little black box that you plug into an HDMI or other input on your regular TV. Costs $99 in the US. Anyway, not only can you use it for Airplay, you can rent movies, listen to music, watch podcasts, look at your photos, and so on. It joins your Wi-Fi network and streams content either from your other devices or from the cloud or from Apple.
-
If you're into Macs, the new MacBooks have a feature called "Airplay." You also need a $99 Apple TV unit to make it all work with a big screen TV. Anyway, let's say you're on you MacBook and you want to broadcast what you're doing up to the 55" TV. Simple. Just set the TV input for the Apple TV and press on button on the MacBook. Then, the 55" TV screen mirrors what you're doing on the computer. This will also work with IPads. Not quite the same as using a dedicated monitor, but it might be a bit cheaper to set up.

Well, all I can say is that I've some excellent food there on occasion. I don't eat there all the time, but the beef stew has been more than excellent. I've also had a few of their other specials and have no complaints. I guess it must be like any restaurant. Once in a while, they may slip up.
-
Rosie O'Grady's has good food. If it's the place I'm thinking of, they have a chalkboard outside with the daily specials. Try the beef stew sometime....

Maybe you should try some other booking sites or perhaps look into a guess house. You shouldn't have to pay that much. A few weeks ago I was browsing Agoda for some Pattaya hotels and noticed that the prices for some were simply absurd. Maybe the Agoda inventory is low? However it happens, if the prices are high, I'd just say no.

If the battery performance in computers and cameras is any indication, the lithium batteries have more of a capacity. That's why they want to use them. Of course, they're also prone to fire and when they burn they create their own oxygen? A problem, for sure. I wouldn't want to be 38,000 feat in the air in a plane with a fire in the system controlling it all.

Remind me never to get on one of these planes.

No, the guy said it was Citibank. In any event, no hotel has ever demanded that I use a credit card. In fact, I had to resort to travelers checks one time when my cards were declined (the bank thought the chargers were fraudulent, since they came from Thailand). Usually, a periodic deposit of cash will work. For example, you're going to stay two weeks. On check in, you leave a deposit and, ever couple of days, top up your account. How can they complain about that? In the end, they settle the bill and refund any extra I've paid. Another thing I sometimes do is to pay for the

I wonder why they felt Lithium batteries were necessary, given their danger. -
Actually, I did see something about a UFO in Pattaya the other day. Supposedly, a bunch of people have cellphone pictures and videos of it. I'll try to find the link. Just Google Thailand UFO and you'll see a number of reports.
