I'm all in favour of keeping the lager louts out of Pattaya but £1,000 economy return is a bit much especially as I now insist on flying at least Business Class on long haul flights. Economy is fine for shorter flights but as my knees as totally fucked, anything over 3 hours is sheer murder in economy. Flying Business with Emirates on Sunday night to Glasgow for £1,550 return. For that, they will chauffeur me to Edinburgh for free and then take me back to the airport from the East Neuk of Fife for a mere £25.50. Alan

I use Yahoo and I don't have to confirm after pressing the send button. I do, however, get a message confirming that my e-mail has been sent. I would re-iterate the advice to type out longer e-mails in Word or whatever and then copy and paste it though any formatting you may have done won't copy over - at least not with Yahoo. I lost a lengthy e-mail just a couple of days ago because I didn't do that! Needless to say, it was retyped in Word! Alan

I discovered by chance last year that my daily limit is 50,000 baht. Normally, that is more than enough - I tend to draw 20,000 baht at a time- but this particular day I needed more to cover my rent and a new laptop I wanted to buy! Alan

Especially coming from an American! As for the British being responsible for inventing te sandwich, I think not. Certainly it was the Earl of Sandwich who made it well known. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich And as for curry, well I for one am not a great fan of curries. Once again, it is not an invention that the British can be claimed as the concept was brought from India in the 18th Century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry Now, haggis is truly a Scottish invention! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haggis Alan

When I had some stuff (books and CD's etc) shipped from the UK, the shipping agents used this company in Bangkok as their Thai agents. http://www.asiantigers-thailand.com/ They delivered my stuff on time actually arriving 10 minutes earlier than they said they would. There are many other companies but I have no idea which is the best. Ideally, your friend will want a door to door service with the company taking responsiblity for the packing. Once a suitable ship is found, the goods will be in transit for around 3 months. Alan

Shipping agents in Bangkok should be able to advise you on the best way to get the items to England. If they go by air, the cost is based on weight as opposed to size if going by sea. Alan

I was looking at flights to Chiang Mai earlier tonight and the fucking taxes were more than the fare (Nok Air) !!!!! Alan

My capital (plus my works pension) provides the income on which I live. It also allows me to travel around South East Asia and occasionally further afield. Do you have any business experience in the past? If not, I would think twice about trying to set something up. Whatever, as always, never invest more in any business than you can afford to lose. Alan

I'm not an economist, but you cannot take one country's budget deficit on its own (unless the country is suffering from rampant administation and general maladministration as in Zimbabwe). Many different factors affect exchange rates - is the economy growing or sinking, level of interest rates, what is happening re inflation, balance of payments etc etc. The UK's budget deficit is predicted to be somewhere between 2.9% Alastair ("Arse Licker") Darling's figure and 3.3%, the EU's prediction. If the EU is correct, the UK will have exceeded the EU's guideline figure of 3% The UK's economy is

Shopping for knock off purses in Thailand
Eneukman replied to ramster's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not necessarily a good idea as Customes may open the parcel when it reaches your home country and confiscate it if they think it's a fake. I've never had a problem with bringing in the odd fake watch for friends (say 3 or 4 at the most). Alan -
100 bt bar fines for all girls

It was 10 baht rather than 100 baht. Alan -
I would like to know the answer to this question as well. Fortunately, I don't have to bring any funds into Thailand for several months so I can afford to sit back and wait. As for the predicted strengthening of the dollar suggested by hound, IF this does happen, the dollar should strengthen against ALL currencies. It should not have a major effect on sterling or the euro - baht exchange rates other than possibly increasing optimism in the European markets. Alan

This sounds like an ideal group for me. I haven't played for over 20 years - and even when I did play it a score of 110 would be pretty damn good!!!! I played the Old Course at St. Andrews many years ago and none of us managed a par at any othe holes. I did manage three bogeys - including one at the par 5 fifth despite putting my 2nd into one of the many pot bunkers. My escape shot went further in a vertical direction than horizontally but at least I was out at the first attempt. Alan

That's correct. I have so far always gone for the multiple re-entry permit as it avoids the hassle of applying for a single permit when you want to leave the country. It was worth while this time as by the time I extend my visa in August I will have left Thailand 5 or 6 times. Alan

ARTICLE BY FATHER OF AUSTRALIAN SOLDIER

Have got to agree here for the same reasons. Alan -
I am also opposed to mobile phones being used on planes. I do think that it is inevitable that the day will come in the not too distant future when, unfortunately, this will become a reality. However, if someone has that irritating crazy fucking frog ring tone, I will not be responsible for my actions. The only decision I will have to make is whether to ram the phone down their throat or up their arse! Alan

So far today Morning shag with last night's bg. Pay water bill for my existing condo Go to estate agent and ask why I've received a water bill for my new condo (only got keys last week) and enquire about condo papers from Land Office. Told there was a fee to be paid for change of director!!! Continue the process of moving all my stuff from my old condo to my new one. Just how much junk can you accumulate in 2 rooms in just under 3 years? Find somewhere to store all the junk until I can be arsed sorting through it all. Stop for lunch Continue moving stuff Bac

Gary, You should be thankful that the person at the other end of the phone could peak English. Alan

Pervert! You only chose Carry on Camping because you get the briefest of flashes of Barbara Windsor's tits. What was the one with the beauty contest? Alan
-
Absolutely, especially when flights only operate on certain days of the week. In some sites, you're just asked to input new dates but how the hell can you do that if you have no way of ascertaining on what dates flighs operate? Or when sites only allow you to chose a return flight that originates in the UK or wherever! Alan

Thanks for that explanation. At present, in the UK dividends are paid with a tax credit attached of 10% (e.g a dividend of £90 has a tax credit of £10 - this used to be 20% until Gordon Brown changed the rules). If you pay tax at the basic rate you have no further liability. If you fall into the higher rate tax bracket dividends are taxed at the rate of 32 1/2% of the gross dividend. Alan

If corporations didn't pay taxes, the taxes payable by individuals would be sky high. If corporations don't earn money, where the fuck does my dividend income come from if not from the PROFIT made by the companies whose shares I own? Alan

South African Airlines web-site is absolutely useless just now. I've been trying to get prices of flights for 2 or 3 days now and all I get is a black screeen once I've selected my flights. Alan
