Has anyone flown in Business class with flat bed seats?
jimmac replied to bigdelta's topic in Airline Discussion
Those are the same as AC have on their 777s. I've flown them lots and they are fine. But the flat beds are a little hard, not a comfy mattress. And if you are large and fat like me they are a bit narrow and difficult to turn over in. But infinitely better than flying in the back of the bus. -
Tom, I noticed after I hit Add Reply that you had edited your post. I can't see that they are issuing all the PR stuff they've sent out if they're not going to permit through bookings on the one booking system. Maybe AirAsiaX could be the exception but in a sense it's the one with the most to gain since feeding connectors into KUL for flights to Stansted and vice versa could create all kinds of feeder and onward traffic to make their long haul stuff more profitable. I'd just like to get my HKT-BKK-SGN flight for next Feb to work and see if the Mega Deal is maybe a seat sale I can take a

Maybe you should read this: http://atwonline.com/it-distribution/news/...res-system-0712 I've seen the same PR stuff on a couple of other air industry news websites today. I understand that AirAsia X is separate which is why I used the word maybe in my last post.

I've read today on industry websites that their new reservation system will allow them to book multi-leg trips as one ticket, not a separate ticket for each leg. The example offered is Perth-KL-Hong Kong. So maybe you'll be able book London-KL-BKK as one ticket. I tried HKT to SGN today which should have come up as HKT-BKK-SGN but it didn't come up so I guess the system is not yet fully operational. But that is not the Mega thing so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what is Mega.

Air Asia's site is currently promising Something Mega coming your way. Anyone have an idea of what something mega might be and when they'll drop the tease and tell us?

It would be nice if some-one had some photos of the rare steak at the bar. A full report on the girls and the rooms would be great for those of planning our Patts trips in the next couple of months.

Are there girls at The Pattaya Beer Garden?
jimmac replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Pete, the video has some very nice looking girls. I wonder about the seating of the girls. They all seem to sit at the bar together with their backs to the customers. It doesn't make an individual girl very accessible for a slightly shy guy. Have you noticed if this discourages some guys from approaching? Is there a way of welcoming the girls while making them accessible to single guy and still let them be comfortable? If you don't have a mamasan will your staff deliver a message to a girl to join a punter at his table? -
Do they have smoked or slow cooked beef brisket?

Sure! Do you have anybody who can score on a penalty? Are England not the world champions at losing shootouts?

Today's Air Asia e-mail-Free seats-book May 18-23
jimmac replied to bigdelta's topic in Airline Discussion
I tried that, Tom, and it's more expensive. You seem to be the Board airline expert. Do you think I should await another seat sale or book now? Is another sale for flights next Feb likely or not? -
Today's Air Asia e-mail-Free seats-book May 18-23
jimmac replied to bigdelta's topic in Airline Discussion
I just took advantage of this for a SGN-BKK flight next February. But looked at HKT-BKK-SGN to get there and it was at regular prices. Does anyone know the Air Asia history on sales? Are they likely to put those routes on sale again later this year? HKT-BKK-SGN is not cheap for two with oversize bags and advance seat selection. Should I buy now or wait and hope for another sale??? -

Alternative to Sandy Spring
jimmac replied to Desmond Jones's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Where is the construction close to the Sandy Spring? If you are sea facing you have the Haven in front and a row of shophouses to the left and Soi 13 to the right. So where is the noisy construction? -
Precisely what vaccinations would you require? I've been there 5 times and never needed one!

That doesn't sound like good news but thanks for the update.

Thanks for the quick response. Any idea how long they take to change the schedule and open up booking? I'm planning HKT-SGN on Feb 9 and SGN-BKK on Feb 16. I'm keen to lock in flight times because I'm dealing with a ground tour operator in SGN and trying to work out three different family departures from HKT on the same day.

I'm trying to book two flights for next February on Air Asia. Its booking calendar goes to Feb 13 but when I try a booking for Feb 9 it tells me no fare is available for that date. Is there a website problem? Or do they not open bookings until closer to the flight date? Can anyone tell me what their practise is? Thanks

Why waste your time with travelers cheques? Use an ATM machine.

U Tapao Airport is to have a big revamp
jimmac replied to Affinity One's topic in Transport in Thailand
I used it to leave Pattaya when the insurrectionist, yellow fuckers took over BKK. It is very close to Pattaya, easy to access and easy to use. I'd use it over BKK any time for domestic/regional flights to/from Pattaya. But it will only ever be a secondary airport to BKK. -
Nice looking Mamasan. Can I barfine her?

from samui to pattaya ! Suvarnabhumi or u tapao
jimmac replied to thai t cunt's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
U-Tapao. No contest. -
BA have 4 classes on their international flights. First, Business, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller. World Traveller Plus is like Eva's premium economy and is OK but too expensive. World Traveller, fourth class, is the worst cattle class I've ever experienced and I've flown on many airlines including charters. That's why I avoid BA.

Thanks for the review and the excellent photos. I see the bed is one of those with a big wooden platform which protrudes beyond the mattress and has sharp corners. Those things are a recipe for cracking your shins when you get up for a pee at night. There's no way I'd invite personal injury by staying in a room with a bed like that.

Pre-book your car. E-mail Mr Toom or one of the others. It should be 1200 Baht including tools and there will be a guy waiting with your name on a board. After endless hours of flying and jet lag it's worth it even if its a couple of hundred extra Baht.
