I caught this on a flight to London. Good film. Not as tough on the Japs behaviour to prisoners of war as I thought it would be......Doesn't quite maximise the drama either........ But goes someway there. Kidman is great. Lomax's Christian forgiveness, (with church spires in the background) contrasts with the unforgiving inhuman brutality of the Japanese torturers who claim the British and Australians surrender stripped them of all respect. Little twist there at the end.

Agree with Gonz that any multi sport best of list is subjective, unless it's based on a common quantifiable factor like 'dosh'. I don't follow basketball so never heard of half of them. Actually I think there's something nice about the fact that some of these most dominants could walk down Oxford st and people would only think, "Ooo he's tall!'

I had a similar confusion as to whether this curiosity should be in music or funnies………. http://youtu.be/-1weDjpXhCE I'd vote for the Arabs I think. Though give the bloke in the shtreimel his due, it can't be easy to even walk with that thing balanced on your bonce!

UPDATE- Sizzler at Central Festival Mall

"The Assyrian came down like a wolf on the foal" I've read that the Chinese are filling doggy-bags at their Chang Mai hotel's breakfast buffet. And I know from, slurping-gobbing, nose-picking, belching, first-hand Phuket experience that old chinese men are the worst. I'm not exactly from the top table of polite society myself but as he ignored the triffid withering looks I was giving him I had to ask to be moved away from the slob…….Managing to squeeze out a vindictive fart as I passed by his trough. As for the Russians this is another negative to add to a growing list. Good head -
You can spot him in this video??

Consider Fergie's emotions…...It's all gone to rat-shit without him, (he'll take some pleasure in that) but Moyes was his choice…..his fault! There isn't really a word in English that captures it. 'Ambivalence' or 'bittersweet' don't quite convey the love that's involved here. Perhaps a word that Mourinho would understand fits best. From Portuguese we have the word 'saudade' that powerful feeling of loss for the past and the future……That something or someone perhaps still with you…. has 'gone' Fergie must know he'll be forgiven, but nevertheless………. last page blotted.

I can own a condo without the need to put my trust in a woman…………. This trumps (for me) the swings and roundabouts of the pros and cons.

Me too………+ I have a condom on my old nokia phone. I shall be out today…..wouldn't miss it.

I like self-mockery……….Good for the soul. Here's clip from a BA Christmas party………...

Living in the past as I mostly do musically…….This took me back to the days of my embarrassing efforts alone in my bedroom trying to recreate the records I was listening to. My efforts were best kept a secret. This kid however…….. Mind you it must help to have this kid's money. I couldn't get very close to Abbey Rd with a guitar and a pair of spoons

Same problem …………My heartbleeds…..

My thoughts go further…….. Undoubtably Wenger has managed Arsenal well. His teams have played attractive and sometimes effective football. But Arsenal led the charge for foreign imports rather than bringing on and giving a chance to local talent. Just look at how many English/British players Arsenal used to contribute to our home nations International teams and how few Wenger's Arsenal has given us. If it's not immediately apparent exactly when Wenger's reign began……..Viera was one of his first signings. I reckon only 3 English players, (Cole ,Gibbs and Wilshere), can be credit

I'm not a fan of how wenger transformed a great English club into a good French one.

Brilliant ………Tortelier will be rolling over in his 'Y' shaped coffin.

Absolutely agree on the lamb kebabs. I'm there posting. Pattaya lunchtime looks good from the balcony. Jet skis fizzing. Arabic music playing softly. The aromatic smells are not my cup of tea. But live let live. I'm gonna risk a wine. Report on that later.

Well spotted. There's been a few of these. What I resent when it happens is the time and effort wasted by the most helpful and decent bms. There's another one I feel may have gotten away with it recently. -

Ep and Rt had different rooms…….I hope. Of the two Ep's was more to my simple tastes. Rt's definitely had the whiff of bottom banditry about it. I would think that any girls entering would've made an involuntary clenching of their buttocks and hoped they'd remembered to pack the KY. I noticed Ep's 'case' but wasn't going to comment. -

A good review EP. I'll keep it in mind when friends come over. RT The girl on the balcony in the rotations in red is delicious. The one with the jack Palance/Lee van Clief cheekbones looks a goer. And it was nice to listen to Cream while I checked out if I knew any of the girls…….. I didn't. But couldn't stay in 'that' room RT……..Nothing in principle against Mozart figurines …..but seraphim's? Who did the decor Liberace? -

Pupen Seafood Restaurant In Jomtien- UPDATED Feb. 19, 2014
atlas2 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Went there yesterday lunchtime……..With masked lady! Coconut shake Water Crab curry Morning Glory Prawn spicy salad 2x rice 560 baht ……..which ain't bad……. Though I thought my dish, the 'pad pak boong fi dang'….. 'morning glory' is better at Tesco food hall. Masked lady, (she's had some cosmetic work done) likes it there and de-masked briefly to stuff her face. We were there at about 12.15 and had the place to ourselves. Halfway thru three coach-loads of Chinese arrived and the place was swamped. Glad we'd ordered and were soon to be on our way. All that gobbing the Chin- 35 replies

I bought at 68 baht to the GBP I fitted it out in an all white minimalist style that suits me. I recouped my initial outlay on a 'rent saved' calculation a few years back. My total outgoings are under 2,000 bt a month and a yearly maintenance payment of 5000 bt. Plus if I ever sell I should make a profit. A friend from UK is looking to move out and spend 6 months a year here. @53 baht to the pound and considering he's 70 years old, in this set of circumstances I've advised him to rent. However, he sees that the advantage to him of buying as being, (again) that he can fit it out how h
