Guys, need to get from Tokyo to Auckland in early November for my dad's 70th. Was thinking of going via Thailand, as you do ... Will fly ANA on leg to BKK. Trouble is Thai Air is quoting around US$1,000 for the BKK/AKL return leg. Anyone know any deals or a good travel agent in LOS? Ideally want to fly direct but will tolerate KL or Singapore stopover if worth my while. Thanks

Can verify that both Marriott's in BKK and the Pattaya one are guest friendly. Hear the odd story of guards trying to scam punters at the Pattaya Marriott. A smile and small tip to your favorite guard could buy a lot of weight. If pain persists, demand to speak to the general manager. Four-five star hotels don't make it a habit to piss off their guests.
