  1. Hi. Several phone companies and many different plans for each one... probably not possible to give general rules. - My 1-2-Call (AIS) card initially was 1-month validity. As I wanted to keep this number (I just moved to Thailand) I asked one of their offices and they changed the "plan" to a 1-year one. I think they took 30 baht on the account for this change. - My Happy (Dtac) card initially was 1-month too. I kept this one they gave me at airport because it was the first I get that had Internet access included. I toped it up 2 times and the 3rd month I got a message I could get a 90
  2. Easy for me to know Songkran dates: I just have to look my plane ticket for my yearly trip to my country . One week Pattaya Songkran? No more for me, thanks
  3. Would really like to know what these questions could be... BTW "how much you credited last time" certainly is not a "security question". Imagine: - I want to stole your phone number (that I know) because you disagree with me - day1: I go to one of these orange machine in front of 7/11 and add 50 baht to your account - day2: AIS question: when & how much? Yesterday & 50 baht. You win Sir PS: I don't say it's not possible 4niceight, just that some people (mainly ladies ) were not able to get back their number. I imagine that I would not be able to answer the securit
  4. Humm... I know people who lost their numbers because not registered Seems a bit strange that you could get a number without you can prove it's yours ??? Can you please tell me yours that I try to get it "back" ?
  5. I you have registered it, just go to any AIS office with your passport or Thai Driving License and you will get a new SIM Card in minutes. If you never registered this number, you may have lost it Nota: A problem the new mandatory registration will solve in the future.
  6. Hi. A few pics from the Immigration website, for those who can't (yet) access it. Note: You need to be in a 1 week dates window to use this online service: "Applicants can submit this online application within 15 days and not less than 7 days before the due date of notification" Note: This service is NOT YET fully operational as of today (February 12). 90-days report access if from the 90-days notification page of immigration.go.th Choose 90-days on the left menu, and scroll to the bottom in the frame for the link This kind of "IE only" warnings may appear. Just i
  7. No need to use a "well known VPN". Any Internet-connected computer outside Thailand can be used as a VPN. I rent for 2 Euro/month a small VPS from OVH that I use for many small things, one of them being a VPN If you registered your SIM with a passport, you must be a foreigner... ... and more seriously, I don't think that Thai/foreigner is their problem. The initial reason for the registration was the "terrorism problem" in the South, and certainly mainly Thai people. Edit: Mixed VPN/VPS
  8. Try to copy the url in the address bar rather than clicking directly on the link. Some people got your problem and found it works this way for them. :) BTW, it seems that this report site is really working already. :) Looks like Immigration did not yet talk about it to allow a slow test period.
  9. Did you try ? Seems to work perfectly with FireFox (35) and Chrome (40), on top of IE (11) Just ignore the notice.
  10. Probably because it's a no-problem. VPNs easily bypass this said ban.
  11. Maybe, but they announced end of 2014 that the service online registration will be possible this year Did you check it? It seems completed already. Will try it for my next report, end of this month To Jacko: there is a menu "check your application status". If something goes wrong, you can still go to the Immigration as usual.
  12. Hi. I had a small conversation with one manager of the "French Group Agogos" last night. He confirmed to me that "Asian groups", about 20 people, sometimes stop in their agogos, mainly in Fahrenheit. I saw many groups coming in Baccara, even upstairs, but they always were smaller groups. Probably minibus-groups, so 8-9 tourists maxi. I bet on Japanese or Korean only, and nearly always mixed group (guys and their ladies). Most of times they come just to see, no girls or LDs, but I sometimes saw them throwing ping-pong balls. Rather funny to see some Japanese lady enjoying doing that
  13. Not yet officially announced, but they are clearly working on it http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibics/online/tm47/TM47Action.do
  14. I don't understand Gary. Are you saying that yours phones are already blocked because not registered? I doubt about that because it's very clear that you have up to end of July to register. Only from August they will stop unregistered phones to call.
  15. 1. Mandatory in my country too 2. Censored? How does that impact your phone ?? 3. Monitoring, yes. Which western country does not do it ? Without talking of USA who tries to monitor the whole world 4. How long do they keep the records in your country ? I don't know. Didn't read anything about that. I think you only have to register Thai SIM Cards, and only if you want call or send message.
  16. Seriously guys ?? What's the problem here ? - Many people registered voluntarily long ago because their phone number is important and they don't want to lost it. - How is this registration different from the registration in western countries ?
  17. Hi. A small update for pizza too: I go eat a pizza 2 or 3 times a month with a friend of my country. We now always go to Brooklyn dinner for pizza (and pizza only) and really we don't know of a better place in South Pattaya/Center Pattaya area. I continue to recommend this place Edit: a 10 baht increase in Pizza prices since my last October report: now 160 baht for small pizza and 240 for big ones. Soda water 30 baht. We usually took 2 different small pizza for 2. More than enough for me :)
  18. Not to me. I posted that somewhere else: Edit: This quote was from a post I made on PA forum. For some reason it "disappeared" from the topic, and so disappeared several messages stating that VAT was a bad excuse here for this increase... Thanks PA
  19. You don't need to pay so much just for the Elite visa! There is a "easy access package" (see http://www.thai-elite.com/) that will cost you 500'000 baht "only" for 5 years. When you see that with recent changes the ED visa may cost 60'000 baht/year (school, extension, visarun,...), with a lot of hassle, you can think that maybe the Elite option that allows you to stay hassle-free for 100'000 B/year is not such a bad option.
  20. Ok. Once again, You will not lost your number even if you can't register in these 6 months What will happen is that you will not be able to make calls or send messages, but you will still be able to receive messages & SMS. So you will continue to get your OTPs
  21. Hi. I don't know which changes this article is talking about ? The "10 million investment visa" exists since 2006 when they stopped the "3 million investment visa" This visa often appears on forums in topics about "Which visa options for young guys?"
  22. Just take a seat in the complex of bars ahead of Pattaya Beer Garden and look. You regularly have such "behind-the-flag" group stopping there to look some Thai boxing. They suddenly invade 4 or 5 different bars. The guide take care of everything: that means they all get the same drink , usually a beer bottle. And when it's time to left, everyone left, regardless of what they still have in their bottle. The guide of course pay for everyone. The interesting thing is that the following group will stop at 5 other bars in the complex. Clearly there is a list/order. That can explain why the nearly a
