  1. I started a KFC only diet and no one believed I would succeed but I lost 10 lbs in a week .
  2. Why when Heathrow is a very expensive airport to land at , is the fare larger when its from Other airports?.
  3. Just booked a flight with Oman Air for 2 months june -july £370 1 stop with a 2 hour layover. Seemed like a good price to me . Can anyone tell me what the skinny is with Oman Air, I read some reviews that were not at all bad.
  4. I should add that most of my electricity is generated by my own solar panels and that keeps my costs down. Can I do this on my standard laptop? and where do you learn ? websites or what?. I used to be connected to SETI years ago and that never seemed to impact my power bill.
  5. r-con_blueocean@hotmail.com monthly 7990 baht its on soi buakhao + water and electric You could try the 9 Karat condo on soi arunthi , google it, thats around 10000 a month plus the utilities . both places have pools but the 9 karat has a giant pool thats great for laps.
  6. Is this on in june or july when I will be there as it looks like the sort of thing I do enjoy.
  7. Honestly anytime is a good time. I usually get there later and just go to bed s I am usually knackerd from my flight. The one time I arrived late and went out I picked my lady for the night and was too tired to complete, but I am an older man.
  8. Even after all the "explanation" I still have no idea about this. How can a computer use so much power its uneconomical? my computer uses minimal power , probably less than £50 a year as my total bill is under £300 a year. Can someone post a link that might explain this process in a manner a luddite like myself might understand.
  9. Loads of places do this , but for you to get any reliable answers you need to tell us where what and how much you want to pay. Some go for 5000 a month or even less if you want a thai style no AC room . or the sky's the limit if you want luxury. reasonable cheap rooms start at around 10000 baht a month and go up from there.
  10. Don't sweat it too much as if you have reached the ripe old age of 60, then you will have enough sense to look before you leap. Pattaya is that sort of town where everything your mother said about bad places is both true , because its an adult Disneyland, and untrue because it won't kill you or send you to hell, but you will enjoy yourself . I will be there in your break as I am going from may to the end of July but again don't sweat it there are so many blokes our age around you will not lack a drinking buddy. I would say watch how much you drink as its easy there in the heat to drink beer li
  11. Horse is in the pub having a few, spots a donkey in the corner. So he nips over to have a natter, donkey asks "what did you do for a living?" Horse says " I ran on the flat in the summer and over the jumps in the winter". Donkey says "I worked with the kids on Blackpool beach. Did you win anything?" Horse says "yeah on the flat I won the St. Leger and the Derby and over the jumps I won the Grand National and the Gold Cup” They arrange to meet at the donkey's house a week later, donkey thinks, "I need to impress this guy, he's done everything". So he buys a big picture of a zebra and hangs
  12. Born Glasgow 10/12/1951 went to london easter 1969- 1988 now live in Chelmsford essex I understood every bleedin word .
  13. There is little to worry about as a first timer, the normal travel rules apply here just as they do everywhere so remember this is a third world country even if the big cities have skyscrapers and fancy hotels, the general run of folk are dirt poor . Dont worry too much about things before you get here and don't sweat the little things as you will be able to make your time here in un town a great time on what for us westerners is a little money. Food is what you want to make of it , as you can eat very cheap or cheap and good as well as very good food at reasonable prices or pretty crap food a
  14. From my point of view the relative profit making one airport over another is less than nothing to me . I want to fly from the most convenient airport and Stansted is by far my most convenient airport ,being around 21 miles from my front door, whilst Gatwick is 62 miles and Heathrow is 67. Southend is nearer at only 18 but doesn't have flights to my chosen destinations. The one caveat is that being a real bargain hunter I would put convenience behind cost as a factor in my choice of flights and unless the price was nearly the same I would continue to use the cheapest "convenient" carrier and a
  15. You may call it a bun or a roll but we call it a bread roll in the UK as it is made of "bread" of one kind or another but it is always a "bread" roll, to distinguish it from other kinds of rolls.
  16. If you want to swim in the sea , then you must go to Koh Larn. I have been a few times to the far side of the island and the water is clean and clear. at least it was the last time I went but that was 9/10 years ago. I now only swim in the pools that are in the places I stay. Not for any minor amount of cash would I swim in either Pattaya or Jomtien.
  17. it takes me less than 30 minutes to get to Stansted and I live in Chelmsford . against 1.5 hours to get to heathrow on almost any day and much longer if I fly anywhere near the rush hour. for me the cost of flying from the local airport would be much less if the flight costs are the same. I can Taxi to stansted for around £30-£35 but can get stung up to £120 for heathrow. If you want to avoid the drop off fee then get dropped in the carpark and take the free bus to the terminal.
  18. I was looking at an eva flight from end may to end july a couple of days ago and the price quoted to me was £486
  19. Seriously a 400 baht fine for pulling a gun and dangerous driving ?.
  20. A Halloween story for you: A cabbie picks up a Nun......She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: 'I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you.' She answers, 'My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.' 'Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.' She responds, 'Well, let's see wha
  21. I have just booked my AirBnB trip to Hungary for april , having been to Belfast last april , Both Ice Hockey world Championships. and as far as I can see the economics in both those places is far better than the economics of the places I looked at in Pattaya. whilst I have in no way exhausted all the places in Pattaya , from my short searches so far it seems that the prices are higher on AirBnB than in person, but I will update you if I find that to be erroneous.
  22. Not wishing to get too involved in this discussion But in my 8 trips to Thailand I spent only 2 days in Bangkok on my very first visit. Not being a person that finds buildings much more than someplace to get out of the rain I found it boring in the extreme and having then gone to Pattaya I have never since set foot in Bangkok in the 2 years total I have spent in Thailand. Bangkok may be a great city for some but for me it's too big and so much dirtier than I like and the traffic makes it a terrible place to get around.
  23. I have only ever been in "low" season and have in the past suffered through Songkran, you are making the right choice to miss it, your budget will go a long way in funtown at any time of year , as I would expect 2/3 months in a condo for that kind of money. There are better offers on flights in the off season as well as better prices for hotels . The weather can be a lot wetter after july but as it rains mostly at night , who cares Low season also means there is a wider choice of ladies as there is less competition for their services and that can also mean less cost. If you have never been bef
