My favourite restaurant closed since my last visit , Nee Roys in soi chaiyapoon , but I have lucked in to a great eatery in Soi LK Metro , its "The Golf Club" strangely its a bar rather than an eatery but they have a great kitchen that does all my favorites so well I have not really missed Neeroys. The serving staff are excellent, The lad who does the Barbeque, Shu/Ju is a fluent english speaker and can help with all manner of things the owners, Steve is a great lad who also sorts out all your golf needs . If you don't have hill assist you need to have the handbrake on otherwise you will roll backwards as its very hard to hold an automatic at a standstill on a hill, it can be done but take practice and is not really something you want to be doing in a queue of traffic. . Having said that autos only use the hill start when the hill is above a certain% ,generally 5% and most users , myself included, just use the handbrake on hills its easier than trying to work out if the hill assist will work on your particular hill.

I went and looked for myself and found it just as you said , what I was hoping for was someone who had stayed there and had inside info as it were . I find the place quite reasonable for my small needs and at the price I don't think it can be beat but I was a little concerned as to noise in the night being so near so many empty but noisy bars , why are the bars so noisy as all it does for me at least is drive me away to somewhere quieter. If you walk along Soi Buakhow from soi 15 towards the market and south pattaya rd it is on the right hand side of the rd almost opposite Healing hands Massage. It is a small alleyway not a street and on the wall just before it there is a sign, in RED, that says R Con blue ocean .thought it good value for money at first glance but any actual experience would be helpful. There is 1 drawback and that is they charge 10 baht per unit of electricity also 37 baht per unit of water but water aside thats quite a hike from standard rates

Due to poor walking ability I always use a bike so the walking bit is moot. But I don't fancy the sewage smell . I can live with the people watching me swim as I find it boring so don't think anyone else will think me interesting enough to watch. What is the noise like at night ,considering the bars are so near?.

You can always book a ground floor condo or 1 in the low rise building so only 1 flight of stairs. And yes those stairs up to the lift were brutal even all those years ago when I last stayed there., its why I moved to the lowrise building.

I had a Dominos pizza tonight and it was edible affordable and not far off the quality I would expect back home.

To MM and Catbear , I can only say that my expectations and what you think of as a good Pizza and what I was served are a long way apart. I might of course be wrong and a New York Pizza should be made like that but, if so I won't be eating any Pizza in NY when I go next year as It was, for my taste and expectation, awful and they wont be getting any of my money again. I like a Dominos Pizza myself and at £9.99 it is even cheaper than the 445 baht I was charged in NY pizza. Who has ever heard of a pizza being made with raw squashed up tomato and not a spiced tomato puree?.

Try the Dianna estates , they are right in the thick of things and have 2 great pools and an exercise room and the prices were good when last I stayed there. or just book something for a week or so and tour around to find exactly what you want and need.

They do indeed , but I have always considered that mongering so near to home is not something I would do or recommend.

I ate at Jim's last night and was happy with the burger but the price was pretty high for a burger and fries when I consider the 4x6oz burgers cheese and bacon with fries I get at home for £9.99 at my local sizzler.Jims had 1 lonely quarter pounder with a little cheese and 1 slice of bacon . When did Pattaya become so expensive its cheaper to eat in the uk and even taking into consideration that its "speciality" food here it's still a lot to pay(280 baht) for a burger and a coke in a country that has such low wages and rents.

I am staying at the Maxx Central just off 3rd road, you can google it, and their attitude could not be further from the Chaba huts. I arrived at 9 last night and was shown to my room by the "porter" , who carried my bags and was told I could pay tomorrow . I was a little concerned about the room as it was much larger than I expected ,having a separate bedroom but on checking with the receptionist this morning I was told OK its an upgrade for same price. Like it says on the tin,Chaba Hut are gits.I just got back from a family holiday yesterday and am flying out to fun town today , but on opening my email I find an email from Mia at Chaba hut telling me that the price I had negotiated and confirmed with them (20,000 for 31 days) has now been changed to 24,000 for 30 days and if I dont like it tuff. I am now booked into Maxx Central for 14,500 for the month + leccy and water so it's cheaper and no hassle to change even at the last minute. I haven't been treated like this in the past so why now , are they suddenly able to look at 20,000 and say n

Do you have a web address for this place , is it the hotel right on the bend ? as I used to get my shave opposite and did not think they had a pool.

Diana estate would be my first choice as I stayed there for many years and loved it, but I had an argument with a guy who was on the management committee and was told not to come back , but only after I booked a 3 month stay and had put all my bags in the room and not when I booked TIT.

What Im looking for is clean cheap accommodation with a pool at no more than 20000 baht . am I right in thinking that 20000 is not cheap in your world , as I am usually the cheap charlie in mine. I would expect to pay less for a condo than a hotel but can afford what I can afford . Any help would be appreciated.
