I stayed at the Lek for my first 2 visits to funtown and whilst I was happy with the room , it was 12 years ago, the food was awful just to look at and I never ate there . I found much better places all around Pattaya that were miles better and many places just as bad but much cheaper. Food is a personal thing and what 1 man loves another man can hate, the Lek food just looked awful and unsanitary it may well have been good but doubt it.

I think you food looks great but its not for me as I am more a big plate of chips and a small chicken I can tear apart with my fingers sort of guy , I am very much into being able to recognise everything on my plate. Dead boring I know but good luck because you grub does look fantastic even if I would not eat most of it.

I know that even a cheap charlie like myself would find it hard to live on 20,000 baht a month,I could quite easily if not happily, but If I was given the choice of living there on a fairly low monthly stipend or living on that same money in the UK then LOS would win hands down every time.

Probably a stupid question but, I love Roast potatoes and there didn't look like there were many on offer is it like carveries in the UK where you can have as many veggies as you like or is there a limit to"all you can eat".

RE, the coving, it can be bought in the UK in Polystyrene that looks just as good, when its been painted, as yours does , can you not get the same stuff in Thailand?.

The place looks absolutely gorgeous, I just wish I had the money. A well presented condo that should move quickly.

On what basis would yo think that 1600 baht a day is too little to have a happy retirement?. In the UK I don't spend that much and when in Pattaya I can live comfortably on much less . Not everyone has a new woman every night or spends fortunes in bars on alcohol and lady drinks, but in the UK I cant fall out of bed and into a good swimming pool spend a happy evening in good company at the various quiz nights and only spend 200-300 for my cokes or turn up at the cinema to watch new blockbusters at £2-3, have a great massage every day, eat great food, both western and Thai , and also have the opportunity to bed a great looking lady one or twice a week. For me thats a lot better than living in the UK on the same money . If you don't have the money to pay for the lavish lifestyle then you cut your coat according to your cloth, not go without any coat at all.

As has been said be realistic in what you are asking , what are you asking ?, what sort of quality are the buildings and how well are they furnished what services are provided, Someone said that 25000 baht is not a lot for westerners in Pattaya , but 25000 baht for a condo is a lot more than many people pay , with most condos I see advertised on here being half that, or even less, for long term. Jomtien seems even lower in price as well as not being very sought after by short time renters. If you advertise them on the forum you will get an immediate response ,but not one you would necessarily like.

I have met a few Canadians in my life as I am heavily into Ice Hockey and I was once asked how I would describe them in relation to Yanks, my answer was and remains , they look alike and act alike in many ways but Canadians are always more polite. Seems to have been a fairly accurate description of my own interaction with both nationalities.

Cornwells Uthred books have been started by the BBC as a series and done very well so far . The series is still on bbc under the title "The last Kingdom" might well be worth a watch for you if you enjoyed any of the books .

I keep reading that the mashed potatoes were great , but no mention of roasted potatoes which is what makes it a roast dinner. Do they not roast potatoes in Thailand.

I have taken the bus from the airport to Pattaya a couple of times , and found the experience not at all worrisome, but only when the times of the bus allow , at any other time a taxi is necessary.

Now thats an advert I could watch twice, once outbound and again on the way home.

I have to say that when I had my own caravan we went to far more places than we would have if we had only stayed in very expensive accommodation in the UK . In some circumstances they are very good things and make holidays cheap enough for even tightwads like myself. The question of heat stroke is not an issue in the UK.
