  1. Thanks for the great laugh
  2. Thanks for posting. It is always good to start the day with a laugh. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  3. Well after extolling the virtues of Freeview UK my connection froze for the last two nights and I missed the lot! Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  4. I would make the following . comment. I love to watch snooker but rarely get the chance. Some while ago on Pattaya talk someone mentioned Freeview UK being universally available. I gave it a try and lo and behold I have been able to watch snooker on BBC 2 each night. I certainly have had great value from the site. As far as the play is concerned, there has been some really magical stuff on view and worth some sleepless nights for me.
  5. I like this topic. I have also found places where I find great food at very reasonable prices I have a favourite which is off Soi Buakhao and sorry, I dont know the name This small restaurant is family run and if they are busy they do not mess about and will tell you to come back in an hour as they do all the cooking and serving within a small family team. I have never had a Thai meal served restaurant style at over 100 baht in this place. A large beer is 75 baht and a tumbler full of wine 100 baht. I imagine that there are gems like this everywhere in Pattaya and if you like and can handle the food it certainly evens out the cost of coming here. Add this to the great accommodation deals and as far as I am concerned the girls can have a few extra baht without a complaint from me.
  6. Your monthly newsletter has the effect of making me look at Pattaya and asking myself “how would Monkey Man have reported that “. Thanks again for the time and trouble. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks Gabor. Looks like my sort of food at my sort of prices.
  8. To each their own. If I was coming to Pattaya with my late wife I would have love to stay at the Marriot again as I have stayed there in the past. I have however graduated to a condo block and enjoy the company of the long term residents and there always interesting people in the place. My room is basic but has everything that I want and at just over 500 baht a night long time stay and in the thick of the Soi Buakhao area it will take a crowbar to shift me. There is room for accommodation at all prices and punters prepared to pay the prices asked but I moved on ages ago and have zero ego about my room in Pattaya.
  9. My experience with Thai, and I have flown a lot with them, is that the bargains have dried up and you need to jump in quick if you see one. It is a year since I was on a flight due to the greatly increased fares. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  10. I bet that in addition to this the food was cold assuming that you want to eat it. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  11. No problem with different tastes and opinions at all. I did go to the Palace and it was mainly empty and for my tastes, boring but as I am well aware that was a few minutes and everything can change quickly. I am balanced enough to believe that the next time I visit it will probably be packed and brilliant! Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk
  12. Well I would like to take a contrary view. One of the reasons that I rarely go to Walking Street now has been that the girls are starting to get to look as if they all came out of the same mold. They all seem to be in the early twenties bracket and I can bet that the Happy group almost have a formula when getting staff. Sure, if you are into"Gabor Girls"this is fine and his preferences are very well known. The thing is that there are a lot of older guys like me that have a preference for older, wiser and in the case of Pandoras, raunchy. I can honestly say that I have had more real FUN in Pandoras that any other place in Pattaya. I have no issue with going to a club for fun rather than ogling 20 year olds. This is Pattaya and its strength is diversity. This is why there are gay bars, katoey a'gogos and places where for the Japanese a 3 -3-3 experience is a bargain basement deal but where some of the longer term stayers find out of their league. I would have thought that you would have embraced diversity and applauded yet another option in the Pattaya scene. I think that Rick is doing his best to establish a business in a not so easy time in a not so easy soi. I would also add that the smaller environment of Pandoras is better for Ricky to mix and mingle than in the bigger places of the past and he has been a champion host to me this trip.I have also bar fined from the place and was very happy with the choice that I made. We need IMHO more Pandoras and less Spice and Baccara.
  13. I have just finished an interesting book. I really enjoyed Andy McNabbs earlier books but he has now moved onto futuristic fiction. I read Fortress and I swear it could have been written by Donald Trump. The tale revolves around a plot in Britain to bring the Brits and the Muslims living in the UK into conflict with the aim of repatriating the Muslims to wherever they came from. All this is to be financed from the US by people with similar aims there. Does this sound familiar?
  14. I was thinking of getting a bar crawl team to visit the Philharmonic in Bangkok. Names and contact numbers please.
  15. Both my daughter and son in law are smokers. Neither of them are particularly healthy and I think that they use this to some degree to justify the habit. It keeps a lid on weight gain for some people (especially if they are too lazy to exercise) however here is the rub. For the last four years the tax on smokes has gone up ten percent each New Years Day and a pack now costs around 500 baht but they, and presumably most of the serious smokers in Pattaya will still be buying if and when they are 500 or indeed a 1000 baht a pack. This really is another sad side of smoking as so many smokers simply cannot afford them, forgetting about the health issues.
  16. Looking at the tariff I guess that I would never use a metered taxi from Swampy to Pattaya when I pay 1000 baht to Mr T and this covers tolls and most of the drivers know Pattaya well, why would I? Really, I wonder how important it is to the average boardie it is unless he is visiting Bangkok.
  17. Nothing gets my motor running better in the morning than a mug of coffee and a 7/11 ham and cheese toastie.
  18. Thanks for that. If any ladies phone up asking for my address so that they can send me roses please PM me for my details,
  19. Eight hundred views and 37 replies and I am still not sure if on balance the place is loved or loathed. I do realise that I will probably never get to know as 500 baht for a hamburger when there are some fine ones available for a fraction of that in Pattaya even if the girl that serves them is a bit on the plain side. They probably wont even get upset if I ask them what they are doing after work!
  20. I got the feeling that when I flew with them that they had little experience of Euro passengers and their expectations.I was however sure that after a few months of complaints and training they would sharpen up their game.
  21. Yes, international laughing stock. It even ended up in the New Zealand papers.
  22. Thanks everyone for the good advice. It took ten seconds to fix by turning off that extension. I hope that I have learned something. I do by the way run Malwarebytes every week but that seems to have by passed it.
  23. I am wondering if the following issue is as a result of installing Windows 10. I did look on the Internet and there are issues however no matter how many times I try to reinstall it still does not work correctly. All I get is a little square logo and the when I click on details I get the following. Can anyone come up with a solution please? No webpage was found for the web address: chrome-extension://ceopoaldcnmhechacafgagdkklcogkgd/stubby.html
  24. Some years go I had to use a scientific calculator as part of a course. These were not invented when I went to school. I ended up looking in the local paper till I found a moonlighting maths teacher. It was interesting that I only needed two hours with him to come to grips with beast and trig in general. We learn a lot more than we ealise even if we dont use it.
