  1. Hi there guys and thanks so far. This thread has been far more amusing and confusing than I could have ever imagined. 2. Whoa! Thanks for the response guys. I have come to the conclusion that for my needs (A Word and Excell equivalent) that all I need is Open Office and begger all the issues with the problems noted here.
  3. Following Greg's comments about this place I have been looking into staying there rather than the Sabai. I have to say that so far I am impressed. Generally speaking the reviews are good and the only down side seems to be that the walls are a bit thin in places and if you have a noisy neighbour it could be an issue. Having said that for a stay of over 7 days you get one day free and this makes the tarrif of 999 plus 7% net out at 916 baht and this includes breakfast for 2. This is for a standard room. I wrote to them and within 12 hours had a complete personalised response from the General Manager with all the details. Ony other down side that I can see is that there is a 3000 baht security deposit repayable on departure. Am I missing anything guys? Seems to have east access onto both 2nd Road as well as Soi Buakow.
  4. The only things that I have bought are a few dozen DVD's and music CD's however I would like some updated software such as an MS Office suite. On the basis that quite a few of the CD's and DVD's are faulty I am not sure if its a good idea. Perhaps a member who has bought and installed MS Office or similar could advise me on price and quality. Thanks
  5. I have been looking at various accommodation options for May/June and have to say that if you want a hotel with pool and restaurant that the Sabai group looks good to me. Agoda have rooms with breakfast for approx 1200 baht. I am however mindful of a recent poster here who felt that the Lodge was going down hill and was shabby. Has anyone else stayed in these places of late and have any feed back please?
  6. Thanks for the responses guys. One more please. I note that when I open PT with Chrome I get an automatic spell check but this has never happened with IE. Am I missing a setting on PT or IE or is Chrome just better?
  7. Hi there. I stayed at the Sabai Inn for 3 weeks last June and really liked the place. I like the area and had good fun at the Soi 2 bars. I also liked the Big C across the road for my supplies of odds and ends. If I have one complaint about the Sabai Inn it is that the rooms whilst spacious are dark and none of them have balconieds and from what I can see it seems that the rooms at the main Saba blocks are a bit brighter. Then again its all a trade off because at the Inn you will never hear a sound in the place and its very peaceful and there has been comments about some of the main bocks being noisy. Bottom line is that I am sitting on the fence till early next month to see if anything good pops up but I have to say that at this stage one of the Soi 2 options looks good to me. Last year I got a really good deal on a quality place from Expedia and I live in hopes!
  8. Big D. I usually support you on this board but this is plain silly. Can you really see a member of this board walking ino Skytops and getting the girls to complete a questionaire, verbal or otherwise? Its OK for you to suggest it on the basis that it just isnt going to happen.
  9. Having said that I note that Agoda has these rooms for approx 1200 baht and that included the 200 baht breakfast.
  10. It had some tough reviews a year or so ago but my main complaint is getting there at 2 or 3 in the morning. It seems a bit hidden away.
  11. Hi there D I hope that you figured out that a blowjob puts no strain on the back and that the adrenaline rush can dull the pain.
  12. This has to be the most convoluted thread in the history of this board. Anyway Dave, seems that all has been forgiven according to the most recent posts. By the way, whilst Jimmy White was a real hero 30+ years ago I would rather meet Stephen Leather if he is coming your way?
  13. I think that most things were cheaper a while ago. I paid I think 845 baht for the superior room last June and there was still free tea/coffee and cake every afternoon. A point that someone raised was about baht buses going down the soi. I think that if a BB gets to soi 2 and its empty it goes down rather than getting mixed up with the roundabout with little chance of more fares for the time and mileage. I never managed to walk to Beach Road last time without a bus catching up with me.
  14. If your interested in a goodish hotel at an off season rate of under 1000 baht per night I have to recconmend this place. No balcony, no breakfast but 4 pools to choose from. Have a look at their web site for more details. Sabai Inn Soi 2 01 May - 31 October Standard room 855 De luxe 990
  15. I cant see service men having the money to ring the bell and tend to believe that perhaps it does come from the US or Australia from those that struck it rich.
  16. This thread has once again gone feral. IMHO the following is the case: No one has suggested that they cannot afford to pay 5 baht. No one has suggested that the lessees of these places should not be compensated. Most people realise that it would be impossible for each beer bar to have its own toilets. The issue is more about the cleanliness and the fact that if you decide to run a business that involves the sales of liquor that people will want to pee. Another small issue is that the older you get the more you tend to pee and there is a plague of people out there with prostate issues. This will continue to be an issue and NOT because of the trifling 5 baht charge so please stop making this thread into something that it isn't. One final point that really hasn't been aired but I would hazard a guess that those that do have good toilets (Well done the PBG) must get tens of thousands of extra business because they tick all the toilet boxes, so to speak. I am sure that some of us have gone to places that have good toilet facilities and paid above the odds for drinks because we have used them ( Lucifer's and Tony's come to mind.) I for one think that clean, accessible and hopefully complimentary toilets are a right, not a privilege, at the very least in eating and drinking establishments.
  17. Well now there's an expression I have never come across. Thanks anyway.
  18. Yes Steve I believe that you could be right. It really was a ridiculous notion that places that sell alcohol (and in some cases spicy food) to farang would provide toilet facilities.
  19. I have wondered over the years why bar owners don't put a bowl of 5 baht coins on the bar for the use of their patrons. It would be a nice gesture and I am sure that it would be appreciated.
  20. Now thats funny! :chogdee :chogdee :chogdee
  21. I am not particularly computer literate and I am sure that a lot of you already know what I am about to say. Just for fun I decided to try Google Chrome browser. I have never used anything other than Internet Explorer. I was surprised that the hype that I had read was quite correct in that it is quicker to load the pages and post a response. In addition to that there seem to be some other features that do not happen if I use IE. As I am pleased that I have found this out it makes me wonder what else is out there that I have no idea about that might enhance the experience more or there may be another browser that is even better. Always willing to earn.
  22. Why dont you just drop a line over the edge at the PBG, drink an ale and chat up a freelancer. You wont care if you dont catch a fish.
  23. There is one major reason for me to prefer perhaps the Sabai or at the least staying in Soi 2 and this is the fact that it is on the main route for baht buses. Just step outside the door and there will be along in seconds. This is a real bonus on a rainy night or if you have any security issues about walking down a dark soi at night.
  24. I was wondering if we could do some good here. What if hundreds of boardies were to email copies of the photos to the Mayor of Pattaya. At the very least it would be a positive step.
  25. The thing that I find sad about this was bought to mind when last at Patong beach in Phuket. I was aware of how many locals made their living from that beach yet they were prime suspects in being some of the biggest litterers. I thought is so sad that the locals were just not interested in keeping their bread and butter clean and tidy.
