Pattaya beach is filthy and full of rats
teelack replied to dontcha's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I am also lead to believe that the edible crap that is dumped on Pattays beaches brings in the sea snakes. Perhaps the rats will eat the snakes? -
Yes, well...I guess that if you respond to everyone who has an opinion on this board and tell them that they are wrong for having that opinion then your going to become a very busy person. The whole spirit of this board is one of people making their own personal stand and getting response from other members on that stand. This is nothing to do with the nanny state because all I bcan do is to comment and suggest whereas the nanny state legislates people rights away. We are all free to accept or reject any comments made here. I think that the following from Wikipaedia put it into context" The italics are mine. Nanny state is a pejorative used to reference a state of protectionism, economic interventionism, or regulatory policies (of economic, social or other nature), and the perception that these policies are becoming institutionalized as common practice. Opponents of such policies use the term in their advocacy against what they consider as uninvited and damaging state intervention.

My first thought on reading this response is why would he risk all his hard core sporting activities to save a minute or two by riding pillion in a place that is a well known death trap. This is an avoidable risk and has no personal satisfaction such as those that you get from xtreme sports.

Following Dontchas comment re some speakers from Tukcom. I was wondering are there not other places in Pattaya other that Tukcom where you can buy software? I know that there are some electronic places in the shopping centres and wonder if these place sell competetively?

Beware of freelance stunners
teelack replied to freeman69's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Very good advice and brings us back to one of the questions asked here a lot and that is about the so called "Walk of Shame". Lets face it you have more chance of avoiding this sort of debacle if the girls have to sign in/out. I also believe that you double your chance of recovery if they have a known place of work that you can try to trace them through. As the man said, you have been royally screwed but I respect your putting the info here as a timely reminder to us all. -
There has been some interesting comments from Dontchas post on motor bikes. I have never used a motor bike taxi in Pattaya but would be interested to hear back from members as to the safeness or otherwise. I know that the girls use these all the time and I have never heard one express that they feel unsafe or have been in an accident. I have always made the assumption that someone that does this line of work 7 days a week must be pretty shit hot at surviving the traffic woes of Pattaya. As a matter of secondary interest, what sort of fee do they expect?

I think that Bells do daily mini bus trips from and to BK. From memory I think its 350 baht.

The Thai saving face thing gets on my nerves sometimes
teelack replied to dontcha's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Dontcha. Its good to have you back but I hope to hell that I never have to share a hotel with you. Are you serious when you wrote this? To sober myself up I walked up beach road and up to Tukcom to buy an external speaker for my phone so that I could listen to the radio by the pool without having to stick earphones in. Here am I feeling a bit delicate and I park myself next to the pool to dry out and recover and to read a good book (Thanks Canterbury Tales) and along come a plonker that believes that he needs to share his music with me. I am off like a shot and either move as far away as I can or just leave the pool area. What would happen if everyone wanted to play their music? What would you say if someone parked next to you and at the pool and got his speakers going? Perhaps a bit of Arab drumming music? Come on Dontch. -
Serves them bloody right!

There by the grace of Bhudda!... -
Thanks Dontcha. As a matter of interest there are a few members would like to find that review that you did for accommodation when last here. We think it was the new place in Soi 2 and was wondering if you can give us a link to the review.

Very little annoys me and even if, its never visceral. I do however look at trip repots here and hate the guy that told Thai girls that it was important, polite and essential to have phots taken of them giving the victory two fingers. -

Butterfly. Excellent and I for one appreciate the research that you must have had to have done to put this together.

Thanks Paul however the following line from the story puts it into context. "The HPA and Health Protection Scotland is currently unaware of any cases of infection associated with the use of the fish spas pedicures in the UK

Hi there guys and galls. I am sure that there are some out there that think this is an inappropriate thread however I am also sure that if this is the case that the mods will shift it. I know that there are a number of Boardies that are New Zealanders out there as well as a number that have been here in times past and enjoyed the experience. For these reasons I am updating you as follows. Whilst the death toll is now in the 180’’s, it is anticipated to rise to 240 or so. There is a major international force of about 1000 people assisting in the search, rescue and recovery. Now then, here is an interesting bit of maths (and I hope that I got them correct) and it puts this disaster into context. The number of dead as a percentage of the population here is totally over the top. Look at the following rounded number: World Trade Centre. 1 died for every 109,000 USA population. London 2005 bombings. 1 died for every 107,000 GB population. Christchurch Earthquake. 1 died for every 17,900 NZ population. I think that you can see what this is such a catastrophe, at about 6 times the rate of those mentioned. If anyone need more info or contact numbers just PM me.

Hi there chaps. Lets see what Soi 2 Inn comes up with in response to the following. Hi there. I am writing to you on behalf of a number of people. We are very regular visitors to Pattaya and we all like the Soi 2 area. We like the look of the Soi 2 Inn (we normally stay at any of the Sabai properties) however there are some point that we would like to make mention of: We would be looking for low season monthly rates. You show this to be 28000 baht however we believe that a figure of 24000 is nearer the price that we believe the property to be worth. Are you expecting to review your rates before the low season kicks in? The other point of concern is the following statement in your advertising: In case of monthly lease agreement, the security deposit will be placed for two months of your rental rate and one month deposit. The reality is that not one of us would consider paying three months in advance. We are however not sure if this is for longer term leases rather than just booking in for a month. Perhaps you would comment on the foregoing points. We believe that out contacts though various message boards and internet sites in Pattaya could be good for your business and we are happy to share whatever you advise us with many thousands of other internet subscibers. Regards and thanks

Areca Lodge Refurbishment
teelack replied to The_Fat_Controller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I know that Steve was the target here but the answer to your question is: a lot of places! -
If enough people emailed the place offering 24 K for a month in low season, I think that this is what it would be.

Bringing a Bargirl to my country. Good or bad idea
teelack replied to roorsoldja's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Interesting responses. How many times have I read threads here that come to a conclusion when someone writes something to the extent of " Well its your dollar/baht why should anyone tell you how to spend it." The bottom line is that I somehow think that you have made up your mind and really are looking for confirmation from others. It is however your dollar so no one really has a look in as the decision is all yours.
