Interesting point in that I do PM people who submit trip reports and ask them where they stayed if the places sound interesting. I did this twice in the last month and was pleased with the responses from the guys. Back to Martins point about making reviews. My comment to this is that the whole area needs a tidy up and a clean out of say all reviews over 12 months old.

Rick, your right in that Agoda and Tripadvisor have good reviews however the point is that this is a resource of this board and I just don't use it for the reasons that I and others have outlined.

I am not sure where this topic should be but I will start it here. I am always interested in what members think of their Pattaya accommodation. It does seem to me however that the "Accommodation" section is not worth reading as its so old and out of date. A suggestion would be to clean it out (seems to be the time for change) and start again. The format is I believe outdated and also needs a fresh look. Is the any support for this? Would you support it? I also think that there is even a case to be made for say a quick response format as well as a fulsome response. Just boxes to tick and questions on cleanliness, attitude, joiner fees, facilities, problems, compliments etc. Bottom line for me is that this is a resource that I don't use on this board which is a bit of a shame as it is such an important part of any trip. We also know that accommodation can change quite quickly if there are new owners/management.

Thanks to the OP for this info. My only comment is that there are so many storys about if you read the travel review sites. It seems to happen in fits and starts and there have also been some good threads here about problems in Pattaya. This has never happened to me yet as far as I know but I was US$100.00 missing one trip and searched everywhere for it. I am reasonably precise about these things and could only ever figure that it was someone taking just enough not to cause an investigation

Why not try the Sabai and have a choice of 4. One of them must meet your needs?

The interesting thing is that as far as I can see in my reading I am certainly no better or worse off had I have spent a lot of money getting a normal policy. I am however like the rest of the world sceptical of the insurance industry hence my question.

I have not had a claim for some years now but always take out travel insurance. In order to minimise cost I put most of the travel on the credit card and use their free insurance. I am aware that the companys that underwrite these policies are reputable and have no issues. I was wondering if any other members have used this form of complimentary travel insurance and whether there have been any issues. It is definately worth some hundreds of dollars a year for me to do this.

I am avoiding Soi 8 till the construction is over. I think that the Sunshine has its pool closed and the Sunbeam does charge a 500 b joiner fee. Having said that why not go for a top of the line room at either Flipper House or Lodge? They are where you want to stay and there are I believe some good rooms with sea views etc if you pay a bit more.

Thanks for the summary however my comments area as follows: The Sabai Inn is not part of the Resort and I am reasonably sure of the standard of room that I get and it isnt hit and miss. I think that if you check you will find that the price of Sandy Spring has shot up of late. Like I have said, there are hundreds of properties in Patts and what I did was look for what I felt was the best deal for 1000 baht. This seriously focussed me on a dozen places rather than bothering about the others.

Have to say that a combination of Beavers and Misty brings a tear to the eye! Seems like a combination made in heaven. I always thought your ladies were good at Mistys and Beavers had some of the raunchiest ones in town. All sound like good breeding material. Looking forward to checking it all out later this month.

Over the years I have used Mr T, Mr Toom and a variety of taxis. I have stood in the queue and I have also walked one floor up and got a cab from the departures area. I have also used Bells on a number of occasions. Heres my take. 1. If you can use Bells and an extra 30 minutes is OK, then do so. 200baht door to door is unbeatable. 2. As Mr T at 1000 baht is the same as the best price I have ever been able to negotiate for a cab, why would I not use him? 3. Cabs can be OK but they can be a nightmare. They piss about going to their favourite garage for gas, take the non-motorways to save a few baht, have quite often ramshackle cars and then when you get to Pattaya have no idea where they are going. PS. Just checking up to see if I had Mr T's email address right and he responded in a couple of hours. By the way, his office is across the road from the Areca so if you in Patts you can just drop in and make your booking.

I totally agree with you about the balcony hight as well as the booze issue. I would love to be able to ask the following question. How many people who fell off balconies were smokers? When I get back to the unit pissed at 3.00am I never use the balcony because I dont need to go out there. I would think that this is the riskiest time of day for accidents.

Hi there. No problem. I ended up going back to the Sabai Inn. I was there last year and took a superior room for 990 baht. I like the location and the 4 pools across the road that I am free to use.
