I can't argue w/ the traffic. However, lets compare daily rates. Two TV's and two balconies will run you (depending on time of year) 2150 - 2450 baht per night for the "City Suite". The deluxe room that is more comperable to the RG will run you 1250 - 1550 baht per night, including breakfast, so lets say they are very comperable, or slightly cheaper in the off season. Other rooms are less, but it's a simple hotel room. Nothing wrong w/ that, but lets complare apples to apples. Long term, the rates are better, but you have to consider water, electric and they only change your sheet

So if the RG is not such a good deal then what suggestions do you guys have for: A better location one bedroom suite w/ kitchenette two tellies, one in each room pool(s) good food/bar great staff room service daily maid in room safe unlimited hot water w/ good pressure elevator For less than 1400 baht I'm not saying it's not out there, I just can't find it. You have some valid points. One you missed is that the beds could be better for the baht at the RG. This will be my 6th trip to LOS and I thought about changing hotels. Not because I'm not happy w/ the RG, just for a change of scenery. In the end, I could not find a one bedroom suite, full service hotel for a 10 day stay at a better deal. I made a list of why I like the R.G. and keep going back. The service is really great and the staff is personable and fun. No problems for me unless the page had loads and loads of pictures and they are not done loading. The size of the page gets bigger as all the photos load (that's as techie as I get ) Posts with loads of replies seem to be much longer than most web pages. It's may not be that they can't tell your age, it's probably more that they are not permitted by law to sell booze to anyone without a legal ID, regardless of age. In the state I live in, it is against the law to be in a bar/club without ID. If there is a raid, the bar can get fined for persons without ID regardless of age. Silly, well, maybe. Then again if you paid $100K (or more, as it is in some states) for a license, you don't have to worry about some bouncer letting someone in because he used bad judgement as to how old they looked.
