Find a nice airconditioned unit, make Martin an offer on the FLB logo stuff, bar equipment, Pattayatalk board, recruit Moulie and the staff. You are off and running. Hell, find a bar/attached guest house with a few decent rooms. All the newbies who come across this board would love to find a friendly place to get their ears wet. If I was 10 years older and had the dosh I would be on it like BigD on a 500 baht long time. (well, I might have the dosh, but can't risk my old age on it).

As someone who had has many "gang of buddies" vacations over the years, the last thing you want is what you are looking for. Find a hotel that will give you all your own rooms next to each other with some adjoining. Perhaps one large suite to party. Myself and five friends have stayed at the Residence Garden with rooms all in the same vicinity, mostly next to each other. It worked out well because the rooms are all large suites. They even have large two bedroom suites if you really thing you need to bunk up. I've done as many as 16 on golf trips to Myrtle Beach S.C. HUGE condos...

I might pay 8000 for something like that, but dang... 18000 baht? Good for them if they can get that price, but hell no.

Flying to Chiang Mai, from UK where do I clear immigration?¬
Sailfast replied to marleyboy's topic in Airline Discussion
I've done it. Give yourself plenty of time to clear and get to the gate in BKK. If I remember correctly it was a long friggen hike. Even flying the same airline from CNX - BKK - another country, it was a mess. The airline rep ended up letting us up to the front of the line to get out. The lager louts stuck in line nearly rioted, no joke! Have fun! -
Thanks Yokul, much better map than I was squinting at. :)

Well done. Am I correct in that taking the train into Bangkok from the airport is still a dream?

I agree that it would probably be more cost effective to have him simply book the ticket in your name. As stated before, make sure he gets all the information correct. Often the fees for transferring miles are not that much less than purchasing miles. IF there are fees (and there most likely will be), I suggest you use YOUR credit card to pay the fees and bring THAT credit card with you when you check in. I recently booked 1st class through Star Alliance (ended up with Asiana over and All Nippon back). It cost me 130,000 miles I had to purchase about 15K miles, costing me $275 F

Some people should not be given passports

Eastern Eurotrash tourists, making ugly American tourists look good since 1990. ...and that's no easy task. -
+1 You will probably have to walk to the parking garage but they seem to know Pattaya. I have used them many times on several routes, (BKK to Bangkok; BKK to Pattaya; Pattaya to Utapao; Bangkok to Pattaya and reverse routes) but, it's been awhile since my last visit so YMMV. If you can give directions once you get to Pattaya then grab a taxi out front of the airport. If you don't know, you might be in for a long frustrating ride. A taximeter got lost in Bangkok once looking for my hotel, I had a cell phone and the hotel's phone number. If the driver turns out to be an idiot there

Since this thread seems to have been revived. I've posted about these guys before. http://www.siamintertailor.com/ I have used them many times, so have friends. Haggle, but don't push to hard and you will get good quality at a good price. You do get what you pay for. Leave plenty of time for alterations so everything is perfect. Sam has even come to the US (he also has family here)and did fittings/took orders for my co-workers. Everyone was very pleased with the results and the price. Everything was shipped so there were no fittings and some suits needed minor alteration,

What do you think this really means?
Sailfast replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Any self respecting boat owner who does not like to be elbow deep in someone else's crap will tell you that smaller pipes don't handle masses of wet paper well. On board, only what comes out of your body goes in the toilet. Everything else goes in the bin. Head plumbing on many boats is 2 inches, often 1.5 inches. It's remarkable how easy it clogs...and it ain't the shit, it's the paper that does it! -
I love my French press, but I might just give this a try. Thanks.

I think, but not 100% sure, that the car is owned by the RG and driven by an employee. That is the impression I got anyway.

New Cherry Bar Opening Party - 15th September
Sailfast replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Good luck. I would never have given a bad review whilst you where in your old location. Now that you moved I can say that I was not crazy about the previous location. Soi 8 did nothing for me. The few times I walked down there was only to visit your bar. All the best in your new spot. I hope to be able to see it myself this winter. -
Sabai Lodge v Residence Gardens - which is better?
Sailfast replied to goldeni's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
For your money, I think the RG rooms/property are nicer. Location depends on what you want. Sabai is a much more exciting location. Closer to soapies, LK, Soi 6, easier transport to most places except Jomtien. RG location is what it is. In the middle of not a lot, but not so far from Jomtien or Walking Street. Note: It's been two years since I have seen the RG and three since I have seen the Sabai so my opinion is a bit dated. -
What is more expensive in Pattaya
Sailfast replied to harro1's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
As mentioned on the first page of this thread, a deck of playing cards must be, by percentage, the most over priced item in Thailand. I recon they could be found cheaper outside the tourist areas, but, I can't say for sure. Apparently each deck has a tax seal/stamp and the taxes are prepaid to the government. I guess the risk for producing or importing them without government license is not worth the penalty? http://www.thailawonline.com/en/thai-laws/laws-of-thailand/283-playing-cards-act-be-2486-1943.html -
The hotel is OK, not all that nice. Below average as I think you could find better for the same price or a bit more. The pictures you see online are very deceiving. I had no great complaints, but, would not return. It's a hoof to LK Metro and longer to 6, plenty of baht bus traffic though. I think you could find a decent place on LK Metro for the same price, probably a nicer room. One thing I disliked, besides the drab room, was that the aircon unit made the balcony unbearable if it was running.

What he said. If I have time, and the itinerary works, I stop in Pattaya first for a week then at the end of the trip for 7-10 days. Knowing I'll be back is the only thing that permits me to leave

I must have my times mixed up. I thought I was there a few times in the late afternoon. Whatever times I was there, I always had fun.

That is sad news. For all the reasons listed above + it was a good late afternoon gogo

I would be described as a lacto-vegetarian. If you are staying at the Residence Garden, the cooks will hook you up nicely. They do not stock tofu, but, will order the good stuff (dry tofu), and use it as a replacement to meat in many of their dishes. Once the wait staff figures it out they will help you with the ordering. I email them a reminder that I am vegetarian and they have the tofu in stock when I arrive, usually. Keep in mind, this is not a vegan place, but in my situation, they have been very helpful. The only place truly vegan place I know of is the one Lantern suggested,
