I went all the way to the end of Jomtien beach road, 2 of us, and didn't ring the buzzer until we finally got to the little seafood restaurant. I paid 20B for the 2 of us and walked off.

I rent my view talay condos out through my web site: http://www.viewtalaycondos.com However, I am full for much of next December and January already. People are really booking early for high season. -
one week!?!? damn, not notice for scheduling!

It is a fact that all project developers offer the best (choice) condos to a core circle of investors. To be in this core circle of property investors you need to be a big player, and have to be accepted as one. This is just the way it is. I know this personally from my contacts in Bangkok in the industry.

I am requesting 5,000B reservation/security deposit for my rental condos. I feel this is neither too high/nor too low. Well, no customer has ever complained that it is too high. I think 1 month deposit doesn't sound so excessive for the right place, depending on how long you are renting, and who you are renting from. But hey, up to you. MrMango, I don't think having a copy of your passport can enable anybody to establish a case against you. Some proof would be needed. Police are mostly fair (of course some aren't).

That is one option. Or just get the visa beforehand and it will save hassle for 60 days. -
Malaysia Airlines charges hefty taxes and fees (around $150), even on award tickets. NWA only charges around $50 from USA-BKK. Note: I am an NWA freak.

No way I will connect in Paris if I have to pay a "poor tax".

As long as there is a breeze, then I would prefer that. I really hate sleeping with a fan though.

Bane, Mistakes and mishaps aren't bound to happen, I think. Mistakes can be costly. Just prepare yourself. I'm not really sure how long it took me to be comfortable in the Pattaya market. Before buying in Pattaya I already had experience buying my Bangkok condo. You really just need to look at the complexes that would be available in your budget, first deciding if you want fully furnished turn-key, or empty shell style units (where you do it all up yourself).

wise advice owen. don't rush.

Hi fellow New Yorker! Actually, it appears my condos in View Talay 1 have increased in value since I bought them 2 years ago; realistically about 50%. Renting your condo out while you are not there is an option that you can consider. I rent my condos out. You can see my web site link in my signature. If you are looking at it as an investment, of course you need to be experienced in the Pattaya condominium market. So, patience might help you with that investment. If you are looking at it purely as an investment, you may also even consider condos in Eastern Europe -- but Pattaya is

I have thought about it before and couldn't find any outlet in Pattaya. In Bangkok there are some around Thong Lor. In Pattaya I would suggest Pattaya Mail/Pattaya People newspapers and the Carfour posting board in Pattaya Klang.

BigD, What base do you have for saying property taxes are coming, and particularly for foreigners owning condos? Never heard anything like this at all. Sure, maybe it could happen someday that everyone will need to pay real estate taxes, but especially foreigners needing to pay taxes on condos? No way. Also, I have a bank account and get interest on my money here in Thailand for many years. You're saying foreigners can't earn interest? This is open to me as a Farrang simply having a bank account. If I want to open a CD or whatever, I can, and collect interest on that as well. I

It makes perfect sense to take the bus from Ekamai if you are staying on Sukhumvit, since it is such an easy easy skytrain ride to Ekamai. Coming back to BKK from Pattaya though, the 800B taxi plus tolls represents great value.

But, you might be sitting next to someone who doesn't speak English and isn't a bargirl either.

Pattaya Park and the beach in front of it would be best for the kids. Don't miss it.

That is the best thing about owning a condo in Thailand -- the low "ongoing costs". Low maintinence fee. No property taxes on your condo.
