  1. Jacko the ones we use have an "8 hour" rating on them of either continuous or intermittent use, but it's the general concensus that it all depends upon the conditions you are using them in, for anti pollution measures I'd think that double the lifespan is probably applicable. Not wanting to teach anyone to suck eggs, but make sure you have a good seal around your boat race when wearing them or you defeat the object.
  2. "We are the world bar" - The one next to the burger king (between Soi 7 and 8)?. didn't know it had closed down!. Oh well ,another Pattaya institution gone. Enjoyed many an afternoon in there sinking cheap Tiger beer and watching the world (well, traffic) go by.
  3. Yes, However there is speculation of the person(s) when they are caught being charged for other offences such as reckless endangerment etc which may add to the sentence. I'm not a lawyer but I can see an example of these people being made as a pretty strong deterrent.
  4. Not sure if already reported on the board (or even in the correct section) but someone has been flying drones in and around the approach vectors of LGW since yesterday, closing the Airport and stranding thousands of pax. Some saying it is not terror related, some speculating it might be a minor or fringe group of environmental activists and some saying it could be a couple of spotty teenagers. Either way, the Military have been called in and when the catch the perps, they'll be getting a serious stretch inside. Threads on PPrune: https://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/616498-gatwick-drone-
  5. Looking good Frosty, thanks for taking the time and effort.
  6. Ahh, absolutely spot on! That's the place. Great sleuthing Forcebwithu. I was beginning to wonder how bad my memory was. I wasn't too far out with my "Big C" guess it seems. Thanks mate, much appreciated. FWIW The food and prices there are very reasonable. Seems to be a Thai family favourite, especially at weekends.
  7. Nope, not Ninja, definitely. My sense of direction is pretty shite, although I recall it being more central / Big C area, possibly between 2nd and 3rd rd.
  8. Hi Chaps I'm racking my brain on a place that a friend of mine took me to eat last year in Pattaya, the problem is he can't bloody remember the name of it either!. It is set back from the road a little bit, has numerous plastic / wooden tables outside and a toiler block on the left as you enter. It is quite a large area. I think it's near the Big C, basically it's an open air dining place where you grab a table, and then go up and select your food , pile it up on a plate and cook it either over an outside BBQ provided and then over the table delivered cooker. I can recall that in o
  9. I agree, this should be an ongoing thing and perhaps offer those who donate a gift by way of return either as a different posting title or label, and if Mr Egg is willing, for those reaching a certain amount over a year, perhaps a 10% discount voucher to be redeemed on one check bin of drinks over a certain amount at le pub?.
  10. I was going to post this elsewhere, but thought it might be a bit self righteous. Couple of days ago I stumbled upon this on youtube. It's a very, very hard hitting doco about the dangers of booze. Toughest bit for me is when one of the subjects throws up in the bedroom all over the floor, then gets another large glass of wine. Pardon the pun, but it's a very sobering watch.
  11. Bill , good point and I think she "vets" her drivers pretty well I've been told. I had a guy last time and he was simply brilliant. Can't ask much more from a taxi service really, fair price point, great reliability, good, clean cars and safe drivers. As you say, maintaining the consistency is the goal now.
  12. Not seen any, although some Thai girls make themselves up to look Indian, such as wearing a bindi and applying the style of make up. I also noticed a while ago some of the girls working in the Arab quarter that was (or still is, I dunno, not been in that area for ages) were sporting fat arses and noteably "heavier" than the average TG. I was under the impression that Arabs and Indian guys prefer white skin to anything else. Saying that, I know an awful lot of Arabs used to go to Bombay for their hooker fix, usually high caste, light skinned and very beautiful Gujarati students self sponsor
  13. LOL missed your postings here KOJO, good to see you back. I'm sure Gary won't mind !!
  14. Bombay airport, bloody hell. I landed there for the first time in 1997, they were still using Pentium 386's at immigration!. I made the mistake of leaving the building with my trolley and suitcase, 200 Indians trying to grab the handle to help me push it the 20 yards to my waiting driver (who, to his credit had specifically warned me against doing so). After the bag went into the boot, cue 400 hands reaching out for a few rupees, they even followed the car down the road. What a fucking dump.
  15. Yeah but I'd never admit I was an Aussie either!!
  16. Good question. i'm not sure but I'd hope that it would work like any other codeshare agreement in that your baggage will be checked through to final destination and it would just be a case of going throught the transfer corridor.
  17. Can only be good news for the end user, maybe book a cheap flight to Europe from the UK and another cheap flight from Europe using Emirates onto destination, a bit of a faff if going long haul though as Emirates always stop at the Dubai hub. I watched an Emirates 777 dropping into Stansted last week, it seems that their services from there are busy and hopefully set to remain, which eould be great for me because should we decide to go Emirates to the RP again, it's only 40 mins to the airport instead of 2 1/2 hours to LHR (plus the delightful M25 to negotiate)..
  18. Hang on a minute. I had you down for a cheap charlie lol. seriously though, maybe we could set up a system for tourists to bring the odd items or items out for Expats in return for an agreed amount of beers / cash or whatever?.
  19. Leaver - That cake is mouldy, overindulgent and a waste of time, effort and money. Remainer - you're a racist bigot with no education who doesn't deserve a democratic vote, remember all people are equal just that some are more equal than others. The cake is fine. Leaver - Tell you what, I'll get my eggs from China where they'll be cheaper, more plentiful and delvered on time, and in return I'll sell them chicken feed. Remainer - Boohoo -the EU is the best thing since eggs were eggs. Leaver - Let them eat cake.
  20. Epic post EP, great pics and thanks for sharing.
  21. When in the Philippines I really miss fresh milk and decent bread. The milk over there is like the "longlife" stuff we have here, even the milk they sell which is refrigerated tastes odd. as for the bread, it got so bad that I ended up baking my own at one point, as the supermarket stuff is truly atrocious. It never seemed to last very long however!.
  22. Gents, with the greatest of respect I posted "lest we forget" as a rememberance and reminder to us all that without the sacrifices made by those over the years and during the Great war, we would not be able to enjoy the lifestyles and freedoms we all have today. Please don't turn it into a political argument , or a discourse on brexit or anything which might get it moved in the "politics" section because that was not my intention for posting. Last year it was simply replied to by others stating "lest we forget" - just a simple reflection and thanks, a pittance of time as the song goes.
  23. That's great news, Deadwood remains one of my favourite all time series. It ended too abruptly leaving far too many loose ends though. Added to that, and to quote MM: "Al Swearengen sure liked his blowjobs..."
  24. Here's a funny which belongs in another thread, but none of the mods pay any attention here anyway....And of any of you have been subject to those "corporate training videos" you'll realise the music is spot on.
