Excellence In Thai Engineering
Butch replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
LOL I especially like the finishing to the corner of the ramp next to the pole. -
I've seen African freelance girls on Walking Street but never any Indian, anywhere, I'm not 100% but there might be one or two working Indian girls around in BKK, perhaps via one of the "model escort agencies" , but that is pure speculation on my part and not to be taken as fact (apart from the first sentence regarding the African girls, that is fact in fact.

Might be worth considering, but possibly not much use to you at this very moment in time, but you can get refurbished 16GB Hudl's on Ebay for £34 plus a fiver delivery and a years guarantee.

But you were wrong, so regardless of your "experience" which, to be honest we only have your word for, and when it comes to credibility concerning proof of one's previous employment history on this board, you are hardly a shining beacon of truth upon which we all feel inspired, we can therefore comfortably surmise that indeed, you don't know what the fuck you were talking about.

Sounds like a case of making an assumption based upon not knowing what the fuck you are talking about.

Well worth the small price to upgrade to pro if using it on a tablet, I'm running it on my Ipad 2 and the new Pro, workes effortlessly on both of them. Brilliant little app and a good website as well.

I used to deliver to Sugar House Lane in East London, and spent ages at Stratford L.I.F.T waiting for stuff. Stratford is full of Indians and Bangladeshis, last time I saw a front wheel around there was back in 97.

Yep Kuwait Airport was never really famed for being good fun, I only went there once and an hour felt like a week. I never flew Kuwait Air though GP, in fact it'll probably be the only ME Airline I havn't been on, I even flew Mahan Air once (and only once). Apparently I read that Mahan still operate a Tristar and a 707 to this day, or up until very recently at least. There's a guy on youtube which has videos of some still flying older commercial planes.

To be honest I'm preferring the matt black paint job on the last bike (not sure which model, possibly a sportster, my Harley knowledge is limited at best, I'm very much a Norton man) much more than the pseudo custom job on the "Roadglide special" earlier on. Metalflake just doesn't look good on big tourers IMO looks like an explosion in a glitter party. Girls are alright, although the one in the first and her subsequent pics looks a bit "manly".

Hi Michael I remember you from the Thaigers forum, sorry to hear it hasn't worked out for you. I can't offer any help or advice, but hopefully there's a BM here who might be able to point you in the direction of a decent Lawyer or course of action. Sorry I can't help mate. Cheers Butch

If you've had a few strokes and also need dialysis then maybe travel is not the best option for you. Then again what would I know. I sent you a PM but as you didn't even have the decency to acknowledge by way of reply or response, I trust you know best. Good luck big D.

Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)
Butch replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
I have eaten numerous times at the "i-rovers", the breakfast was adequate but not what I would call fantastic. If I were looking to suggest somewhere, then perhaps "The Golf Club" is a small gem otherwise missed. -
Big D check your PM's. My Mum and Dad also use the same kind of Health Insurance as they spend a fair bit of time abroad, you submit the bill, they remove any excess and reimburse the costs in the equivalent in UK sterling at the rate at the time.

I used to fly Gulf Air when they had L1011 Tristars and VC10's into Oman, back then though it was the airline equivalent of a number 27 bus, stopping here there and everbloodywhere. Dubai Airport was a dump, Doha had 2 toilets, 2 lounges, a book shop and nothing else but Bahrain was actually pretty good. We then went on to using Emirates in the early days for our trips to the RP, mostly because they had a 30kg allowance when everyone else was 25, then graduated to Cathay and haven't looked back since. A lot of filipino's use Qatar for the LHR to MNL trip, they do come across as being a good all round airline and the rewards are better than most. I have done Laurel on EVA using my points before but as you say, it seemed to take a couple of years to get enough. EVA now don't offer points on many of the economy fares at all, you have to have a certain fare class to qualify and most of the discounted and cheap fares don't. Wankers. Just another thing about EVA which grates on my tits. I've often worked on the basis that if I were ever to go to LOS for an extended amount of time and wasn't too worried about losing a bit travelling, then Qatar would be my number one alternative choice. I think also that Gulf Air fly to LOS but could be wrong. I haven't stepped foot on a GF plane since the mid 90's so can't comment on their service. Mrs Butch refuses to fly on GF because apparently she remembers seeing the results of one that crashed in Bahrain a few years back. Odd logic I know but that's Asians for you. If ever I want to check out an airline, I just do a quick youtube search, all the popular ones have some kind of in flight vid done from pretty much any section of the aircraft.

Hi Atlas, good all round hassle free experience. However, in the UK it's not all that bad. I mean, they will remove the old one once you've accepted full and unequivocal liability for any damage or injuries to the delivery guys, and have signed a contract agreeing so, also, at the same time presenting your public liability insurance policy. You could take it out to the doorstep yourself where they will then remove it (handy if you live on the 15th floor of a block of flats eh?), but you then need to inform the local council that it is a temporary placement and you are not fly tipping outside your own house / flat / cottage thus risking a 1000 pound fine. Alternatively you could give it to the local "furniture project" whereby a couple of blokes on day release from the local prison will trapse all over your Axminster in dirty boots, make disparaging comments about your wife and eye up the security of your dwelling for their next job. Another option is to just simply leave it on your front lawn and let the local pikeys / Romanians / Eastern European migrants take it away, gratis. However, they will also rifle through your garage / shed / lean to in your garden and help themselves to anything not bolted to the floor. There are also the "free ads" whereby you offer to sell it for a few quid, only to have some council house dwelling chancer turn up at your door, trip over and then ask for compo for his injuries, either that or he'll look over it and say he doesn't want it after all as it's not as described, and can he have some cash for his wasted journey. Isn't the UK wonderful?.

Gabor, like "black pudding" a "Yorkshire pudding" is somewhat of a misnomer or misleading name. It is made using a batter mix of eggs , flour and milk / water and is cooked in the oven, and as someone said is often served with gravy in the middle and is used as a "mop" for the juices of the dinner. A good "yorkie" should be crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, fluffy on the inside and to be honest, going by the pics the one in your meal looks pretty good. Anyway thanks for the review. looked like a good, wholesome meal with nice roast potatoes.

Chaeper Accommodation Pattaya
Butch replied to TheBigKangaroo's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Depends upon how near to WS you want mate. If you have a bike then most of the attractions in parts are within easy reach, including afternoon gentleman's clubs etc which are a bit out of the way near big buddah hill and Jomtien. I think for that price you're looking at somewhere close to LK Metro or one of the Sois off of it, or maybe somewhere above a bar along Soi Yamato, Post office or even Soi Pattayaland 1 (which is now a gay area), but I haven't stayed in that area for the best part of 20 year so I'm just guessing really. A good place to try in the LKM (LK Metro) area is the canterbury tales bar, i-rovers and Billabong bar for example (just google them). They're all fairly cheap and offer wi fi , and walking street is just a 50 baht motorcycle taxi ride away. As you're getting there during the Songkran celebrations, accommodation might be harder to find. I wouldn't recommend taking the bike out if you're intending to drink though, the Police are coming down pretty hard on drink driving and it really will ruin your holiday. I'm sure some Expat BM's can help you a bit more, also, if you can sleep through the noise, PJ Bar on Soi 7 offers cheap rooms (it used to be the Anna Jet Bar). Hope that helps. Cheers Butch -
That does seem a very good fare to be honest. Do thai still allow 30kg on the LHR-BKK route?.

All American Hotdogs & Snow Cones: The weird combo
Butch replied to Gabor's topic in Restaurants and food
Looked and sounded half decent until the addition of the processed cheese slices. I love a good burger but when it has the sliced cheese in it, it gives me heartburn for a day afterwards. I find that it adds little or no flavour to a dish and effectively ruins it (for me anyway). Good report Gabor, thanks for posting but I think this one is crossed off my list. -
Laem Chabang Port and Shipping HELP
Butch replied to JantarMantar's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
You will want to box up your bike and get it into a 20' Container as "Consolidated Cargo" via a Freight forwarder and as Severn correctly said, you pay just for the m3 (cubic space) your item takes up within that container rather than the hire of the whole 20' itself. Some companies will ask for all the fluids to be drained out of it for transit, as there might be some cross contamination of other cargo if there is a leak. The other "cheat" method is to remove the rear wheel and then ship the rest as "parts" but that's mostly for dodging customs duties either at this or the other end, but it saves all that tedious bollocks of fluid draining etc, but when you go to pick it up, it looks slightly suspicious when you arrive with a wheel , bolt it on and ride off into the sunset. OR My advice of 18 years in the Port Industry is to keep it simple, get in touch with a local (thailand) Freight forwarder and let them handle it from start to finish. Because you're in Thailand it'll be cheaper to do it from this end than the other. Give them all the relevant Documents and ask them if they can deal with everything from packing through to either FOB or cleared and landed the other end. They will then contact their office or partner in Turkey who will arrange for a date and time for you to pick the bike up when it arrives at a Port local to you. There are several Freight forwarders in Thailand, and the Laem Chabeng area. Just look in the local yellow pages, call and ask if they speak English, you could go for a known international one or a local one. This method is probably 30% more expensive than doing the legwork yourself, but 2 million per cent less headache, form filling and general arguing with your Customs officers over payments, which you'll end up paying anyway cos they'll just seize what they want to and hold it to ransom while stuffing their pie holes with pizzas and selling cheap contraband they've stolen found, laughing all the way to the bank. Allegedly. Hope that helps. cheers Butch -
quick question if anyone can answer please.
Butch replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Lol Thanks for the replies guys. I have absolutely no idea why he wishes to know such information but I will pass it onto him that the place is still open in one form or another, but for how much longer, like many Pattaya venues, is anyones guess. -
Cathay have this policy and uphold it which is fair enough. Whenever we fly from the UK to the RP It's Cathay each and every time, via HKG for some duty frees. One thing about Cathay is their professionalism, the Cabin crew are pretty switched on and I've only once had to write them a "snot-o-gram" which then came back with an apology, some promotional gear and a few token additional flyer points. I've never known them to upgrade anyone gratis, but then again I've never known them to overbook a flight and have to do so. If I'm flying alone I'll always book economy and use the points to upgrade, but even then it's slightly hit and miss and depends upon seat availability etc. I might also be wrong here, but I gather that Emirates offer (or at least used to offer) this upgrade purchase option at the airport, I have no idea on the cost though.

Hi I've been asked by a mate here in the UK if the "Kitten Club" is still going. Looking at him rather blankly I said I'd never heard of it, then it dawned on me that it had, he is on about the one adjacent to the Penthouse Hotel on Pattayaland 2 (for some reason I had it in my fuddled brain as "kittens a GoGo" ). I told him that I seem to recall it becoming either a Ladyboy Bar, or a mixed TG / LB bar which was divided internally so there was no chance of making one of "those mistakes". Considering I walked past the place a few months ago while nipping in to see Chart in Classroom, I must say that I paid it no attention, as I thought Classroom was effectively the only "straight" GGB on that street these days. Anyway, has anyone got any news on the place, if it is now a Gay /LB bar or if it is just another closed venue. Cheers and virtual SM light in advance Butch
