You are correct about not allowing two passports in thailand but many girls do it. My wife certainly does. I am not condoning breaking the law just giving you an options to ponder. Go to the Thai Visa site and ask the question as I have heard there has recently been some relaxing of the reg's about dual nationality. Also remember she can always re-apply for a new visa anyway when you return. If it was granted before there should be little problem getting one again. If you are only travelling back and forth from thailand there is little advantage in having the british passport as i

I always book EVA via ebookers and always get the miles. If you book on the PHONE with them they will wort the miles out for you. I THINK EVA has a time limit on the validation fo the airmiles though so you really DO need to be a "frequent" flier to make it worthwhile. If you are not its probably worth just looking for the cheapest fare. No point paying over the odds just to get miles if you can never use them.

I just picked up EVA return £435 for a mate end of September. I flew cattle class on EVA first time in April (always what they used to call Evergreen prior to that) and it was OK given the brand new planes and interactive entertainment. It was helped by the fact that it was less than half full so had 4 seats to lie on though. While on the EVA topic dont forget to take advantage of the self service or you will just think the food is crap :) the self service stuff is great but I rarely see people using it. You will see UK - LOS prices start to fall now but probably only those for lea

Others are right - it depends on your "ticket class" and its importnat to cjheck this when booking. many cheap deals are non changeable (understandably) without a fee but I'd be well pissed off if I bought a business class ticket and that was the case.

Farman Yes pretty sure but depends on the time of year. My last trip was Early May and EVA was £411 return and etihad etc around £385. Ive just ran a "random" check 28th June - 5th July (dates as the online sites offer automatically and Etihad is £511 EVA is £547 - £36 in that case. Even if its £60-£100 I would still say its better to go direct - peronal opinion of course. Personally I dont book on price but on "value" which is a different argument altogther.

Yes they are - I have used e-bookers now almost exclusivley for over 4 years and around 60 flights (inc' family). I ALWAYS telephone the SAME girl there. She always beats the online price and almost always gets me a free night at Landmark thrown in (when ur married this can be a bigger deal than you might think lol). In addition she sorts out my airmiles and nectar points for me lol As with all agents they will try and do as little as possible for the biggest cut - but in my opinion it is worth developinga relationship with one agent - afetr a while they will bend over backwards to ke

I have no idea what your options are from OZ and especially from the different cities but Thai is just so damn awful these days. being and old lag I remember the days when Thai was world renowned as a premium carrier but days are long gone. I cant say Im a great fan of Qantas either but given my experiences of the two from LHR I would take Qantas any time

Living close to Heathrow I simply cannot imagine why anyone would EVER fly indirect. Not only does it take longer but there is a good chance it will take even longer than scheduled. However I have read many a convincing argument on the board especially from guys travelling from "non-london" airports. if it takes you three hours to Heathrow then indirect can be time efficient. In addition you get good reports from one guy and bad from the next. For example I always try and travel EVA. From my experience it is easily the best I have flown (over 100 returns) but other guys HATE it, One ba

ebookers 1-15 sept economy £558 inc taxes PHONE them up and you will get a better rate than online and this should inc evergreen By the way since they upgraded to the new planes I dont think they call it evergreen anymore but I could be wrong. I flew economy 3 weeks ago as it was all that was available and it was very good - mond you it was less than half full so everyone had a whole row to themselves almost. If you book for AFTER 6th Sept onwards you should get cheaper deals as that is the last day of the school hols i.e. the end of the peak price season. I always use the same

3.6 mill - have you done a mis-type???

Bangkapiboy - I hope you dont mind some criticism, its meant to be helpful and constructive. I know viewtalay well and there are some great appartrments there but the pictures on your website are so dingy that they make the appartments look small and dirty. Likewise the outdoor shots look miserable. If you really want to let your condos - get some professional photos done. I am sure the consdos are great - you need to make them LOOK great. Just my opinion

Self employed - work hard and save my money for travel. About 6 years ago i started looking for clients in Thailand and now have two - travel there is deductable and makes me money not costs me.

You can fly direct (with ful stops) with a few of the "package" suppliers. As far as I am aware there are no direct schedule airlines. It is worth looking at the holiday package deals as although a previous poster points out they are expensive they usually include the hotel.

Take a look at these http://www.ratanakorn.com/projects.asp I know they are bit away from the beach and have next to no gardens and only a "shared" pool but it does rather put 30m into perspective - doesn't it?

Interested in? I would have thought it an absloute must - infact it was the first thing I made sure I had in place and could afford before moving. Does anyone have any idea of the best costs for (good cover level) "family" insurance. I currently pay 192,000 a year but reading this forum males me think it could be a lot cheaper. If it helps I am 44, wife 31 and kids 10 and 2.

Firslty can I stress that I am not trying to insult the intelligence of any "old stagers" with this post but it may well save any Newbies here some dissapointment. Immigration officials at BKK airport have been instructed to STRICTLY enforce the 6 month passport rule. Sadly many tour operators are failing to stress this to holidaymakers. Anyone planning a trip for the first time - you MUST have a minimum of six months left on your passport NOT just enough time to cover your stay. If you arrive for 2 weeks with 5 months left on your passport you are likely to be sent straight home.

Mrstein I certainly cannot live here on $4,150 a month. We are not all single - thats why. I have to pay $400+ per month for family med-insurance and $600 per month for 3 lots of school fees. Accepted I CHOOSE to pay for those but to me they were an essential consideration when deciding to move. That leaves $3,150. Now I have to think in £GB and thats £1,800 a month. yes I could quite easily "survive" on that but my lifestyle would not be great after feeding and clothing a family of 5. I certainylk didn't move here to live on "survival" rates. After all £1,800 is only £60 a

Summer (i.e. July August) is always expensive due to kids school holidays. There seems to be no difference this year compared to last. It aslo depends on when you are LOOKING as well as when you are travelling. If you booked in in November - January there were plenty of good deals around for the summer months. Now we are in the period when seats are in shorter supply so prices go up. They will come down again closer to the time if seats are still available.

Due to the issues raised I contacted EVA who have emailed the following reply "Please be informed that you will be required to present a copy of the booking confirmation along with all the other travel documents at the time of check-in. You do not necessarily need to carry the credit card with you. Therefore, you will not face any problems at the time of check-in. I hope this has clarified your query. However, please do not hesitate to contact me for further assistance". It would appear that (for some reason) this is a USA issue as we dont seem to have it in the UK (can't speak f

I check in at LHR with EVA on e-tickets. All I am asked for is "identification" such as a passport which obviously I am carrying to travel abroad. When you say the practise of asking for the credit card is "standard" do you mean to the USA? I am a bit worried now incase the rules in the UK have changed as my ticket is always purchased by my clients and not by me direct. Thanks Andy

Of the three direct fliers LHR - BKK there is little to choose between EVA and BA. EVA wins hands down if you can afford the little extra to upgarde to the Evergreen deluxe economy though. Both have self service canteen throughout the flight which I like. Both are infinitely better than the 3rd alternative Thai Air which has gone from excellent to awful in 3 short years.

EVA is available those date for £411 and direct see the link below for a travel company in UK who can secure this for you.

Stephen Why on earth did you change money in the UK? You will get much better rate in thailand. Current up to date mid price can be seen here http://www.financial-index.co.uk/currency-converter.htm I have even moved Baht to the top of the lists so it even easier to use. Its a good and VERY accurate currency converter so please bookmark it :) In my experience you will get close to the mid-rate in Bangkok so I assume same for pattaya. As I write mid-price is 67.8345

Just search on the net - say for "cheap calls to thailand". Many around for 1p and 2p a minute. Usual charges now are 1p to bkk landlines, 2p to cellphones and out of bkk numbers.

Mook - Suicide does NOT make insurance invalid - not in the UK anyway. Most policies will have a suicide time disclaimer (usually 6 months) to stop people loading up on insurance then doing the deed immediately. Most UK life policies will be valid for thailand so long as you inform them you are moving there.
