Any direct bus from BKK airport to Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Tried to take the direct airport bus from BKK airport to Pattaya as I have heard it exist. I was trying to do just that (instead of taxi to Morchit2 or Ekamai bus stations) then bus to Pattya.

Everyone I asked at airport said this service did not exist. Does anyone know if bus service to Pattaya from airport still exist and if it does, where at the airport do i catch this bus and how to pay for it. Also, bus schedule and latest prices will be helpful.

Thanks

PT

I catch a taxi meter to Morchit bus station about 100Baht (unless they take the long way for more fare) the bus from Morchit to Pattaya something like 120Baht. Many baht busses at bustation in Pattaya cost is 20 baht to the beach....

Isn't Emekmai Bus Station closer and cheaper?

Mo Chit has to be at least 45 minutes closer than Ekamei even if you take a Taxi. If you try to take the Airport bus, it could take up to 2 hours longer to get to Ekamei.

BTW, the direct bus to Pattaya was discontinued about 2 years ago. For a while Thai Airways tried a minibus to Pattaya but I believe it has been discontinued also.

Cheers

I caught the airport bus from pattaya direct to to the airport on November 17th this year, so it certainly hasnt been discontinued. It cost 250 baht. the times are 9am, 1pm and 5pm from pattaya to airport. No idea what times they return but would like to know as will probably catch it on the way back if it fits in with my flight.

the airport bus has its own little office at the pattaya north road terminal.

Bus terminal for Pattaya at Don Muang used to be at the Domestic Terminal. Any news of termination of the service has not reached my ears - or any other part of my anatomy. Only 3 or 4 buses per day however so only of use to the criminally indigent.

Baht buses at Pattaya Nua terminal on a lucrative police protected scam. All bus fares are posted inside the bus. Fare to Beach Road hould be only 5 baht but I for one would not argue with these cowboys, certainly not over 15 baht.

Wait, need to clarify this.

You mean the fare from Pattaya bus terminal should only cost about 20b MAX?

I guess they really ripped me off. They wouldnt take me unless I gave them 60b.

I tried to offer 20b, said no, then 30b, again no, then 40b, and no. I walked away to another baht bus, offer same, and got same response--NO. Tried 3rd driver-No.

I didnt know the normal rate so being it was getting late and I had already wasted 10min with these clowns, I finally said 60b and then he said yes.

Now the other question: how much should I have paid (usual rate and max rate)for the ride back to Pattaya bus station from my hotel?

You might have asked them about a certian place and they may have asumed you wanted to hire them as a taxi. look for a baht bus that they are filling up with people, they don't usally leave until the bus is full because of the distance....

Hi guys!

As has been stated already bahtbuses are 20 baht from North Pattaya Busstation to beach road, and they leave when full. If you want them to take you to a certain hotel they might ask you for more!

When it comes to normal bahtbuses that plies their fixed routes around Pattaya the rate is now 10 baht, even the Jomthien bus from the school in South Pattaya is 10 baht all the way to the beach in Jomthien!

If you want to go direct from your hotel to the busstation you must hire the bahtbus for about 60 baht(although they will usually ask for more, up to you!).

There is a big aircon bus from Pattaya to Don Meuang, every time I took it they went to some depot in BKK first where you have to change for a mini bus (included in the price) that then takes you to the airport.

Faster to go to the airport by one of several minibus companies.

I have never seen any sign of a bus going the other direction though, although I have read on some other forums people say that there is one, supposed to be handled by THAI? :chogdee2

Have heard of guys who has managed to get a minibus from airport to Pattaya, but they have probably rented it!?

Ekamai Bus Station serves the destinations east of Bangkok. Mo Chit services the destination north of Bangkok. Pattaya is east of Bangkok.

Why would you go north to go east?? Going via Ekamai is the most direct way to Pattaya.

Hi jakedsnake! :beer

The Airport is actually about 8 km North-East from the Northern Busstation (Morchit), and about 18 km North from the Eastern Busstation (Ekamai). Takes about 30-45 minutes to Morchit, but about 1,5-2 hours to Ekamai because you have to go through some heavy traffic streets (Sukhumvit rd). From the busstations to Pattaya it takes about the same time 2-3 hours and costs about 100 baht. Although Morchit mostly do North to North-East routes they also do Pattaya, maybe because so many of our beloved bargirls comes from North-East and needs a fast connection to Pattaya!? :chogdee2 Cheers! :banana plahgat

The little darlings going to Isan would I think catch a bus passing through Korat by a direct route. These buses start/terminate by Loxinfo office on 3rd Road (goes to Ubon) or the Esso garage immediately north of the top of Pattaya Klang on Sukhumvit (goes to Udon and Nong Khai). There is a direct route to Mukdahan from the Pattaya Nua terminal.

I see that your from the US so if your arriving at BKK on one of those late night flight forget about either bus terminal as they are closed. If you do take the bus go to Mochit by taxi (100 baht unless you use one that is based at the airport then it will be another 50 baht). It should take you about 10 minutes to get to the Mochit terminal and it is quicker than Ekamai as it located just off the expressway and you don't have to fight the Bangkok surface traffic both getting to the terminal and leaving. If your staying in the Sukhumvit area or visiting it from Pattaya use Ekamai. If your coming to Bangkok from Pattaya take the bus to Ekamai but get off at the first skytrain station and use the skytrain as its much quicker. Regarding the baht bus question once at the Pattaya bus terminal, you can always walk across the road and jump on a moving baht bus for 10 baht, if you see one with the yellow markings then it is only 5 baht.

G'day Lostinspace, they must have changed the time of the last bus as I definately left at 5pm the last two times. By the way, did you happen to ask them at the terminal office whether there is a bus coming back from the airport to pattaya and, if so, what times does it leave. I keep forgetting to ask when i catch it home.

I tried taking the bus to Pattaya from the Mo Chit station based on advice form this board. Based on my experience, do NOT take the bus from the Mo Chit station.

This bus takes a different routs to Pattaya and makes a lot more stops. I ended up somewhere in Pattaya (it was dark by this time) and was totally lost! Before I got off the bus, I asked the bus driver where the depot was, but he did not understand any english. I ened up asking a TG how to get a taxi and she got motorbike taxi to take me to my hotel. I hung on for dear life until I got to my hotel.

Rather, take the bus to Sukhumvit, get off at the first stop near the Nana Hotel, and take the skytrain to the Ekamai station. Take the bus form there and once you get to the bus station in Pattaya you can get a baht bus to your final destination. Fare starts at 20 Baht.

Hope this helps.
