Qantas near disaster

Recommended Posts

I'd call that 344 lucky souls. I hope they all kissed the ground when they deplaned. I know I damn sure would have. Makes me wonder how many BM's were onboard? Hope they enjoy their mongering considering the alternative.....Reggie

If it was trans Atlantic probably yes but surely the route to Bangkok never takes it more than an hour from an airport.

Any BMs on this flight? Once you have sobered up post your thougths

It seems that the problem was a blocked drain in the first class galley, the water then overflowed and cut out the electrics.

You can read more on pprune.org the pilots forum.

ps: Is that Isaan air a wind up, maybe that's their video on youporn, Handjob airlines

KLM had an engine failure flying out of J'Burg this week..had to return and land on one engine..........Maybe we are due a big one soon...... <huh

It was a 747 so it had 3 spare engines. If it were BA it would have carried on (as one did from LA to London a while back) :D

A 747 has a generator on each engine and all four generators were working.

However, water dripped down on the control circuits cutting off distribution of the electrical power. There is a shield designed to prevent water from reaching the control circuits, but during the last heavy maintenance on this aircraft the shield was not re-installed.

Some mech or quality control supervisor might lose their head over this one. :behead
