Mobile phones on flights

I see airlines have starting relaxing the total no-mobile rule in-flight but is being relaxed now. some airlines going for combined calls and sms whilst others sms messages only.

What you guys you travel regularly think about this. I prefer the way it is now. I can just imagine phones going crazy and beep beep for sms calls coming in and messages returned.

Personally hate the idea of Mobiles going off every 2 minutes while i am TRYING to actually get my head down. I find it hard enough to sleep on a plane as it is.

I hope the mobile phones do not come in on aircraft, they're bad enough on trains, maybe this is why I love tunnels.

 

Also, think about this one, your TG can call you to see where your flight is, once she knows you are still at 35000 feet over Burma/Borneo she can pull another ST or Two in

Or worse,she calls and hears the music of Soi8 in the background and realizes

you landed a day early.

No already to many people screaming intom them while waiting ti board,wouldnt want that to continue for

I can't see any airlines in their right mind approving use of mobile phones on flights. They may concede to allow SMS use assuming the user keeps phone in a silent or vibrate mode. Think air rage is bad now....

It's noisy enough on the planes. I try to sleep as much as possible on the long flights and phones going off would drive me to distraction.

LOL it took me a minute to appreciate this. I ride the train to work everyday for about an hour and I can't stand all the people yakking away on their phones. They have no control of their volume and bring us all into the most asinine conversations. I can't imagine having to deal with that for an international flight.

 

Definitely against. Even SMS as people would probably sneak in a quick chat.

I'm against cell phones on planes as well.

I'm not too concerned however.. It will be implemented (we can't stop that) but it will be very expensive per-minute so that will keep the conversations brief.

This statement has some perception when given thought...if the airlines can make money on this it will go ahead! I only ever used the on-board telephones 3 times on many many flights myself.....

On short flights (say up to 2 hours) - fine by me.

For long haul when people are trying to sleep - a definite no.

I am also opposed to mobile phones being used on planes.

 

I do think that it is inevitable that the day will come in the not too distant future when, unfortunately, this will become a reality. However, if someone has that irritating crazy fucking frog ring tone, I will not be responsible for my actions. The only decision I will have to make is whether to ram the phone down their throat or up their arse!

I am against allowing voice as I have no wish to hear various people barking down the phone.

I just know my daughter would call me when:-

 

A. I am trying to sleep.

 

B. When I am eating.

 

C. When I am on the bog.

 

D When I am watching a film.

 

Just like she manages to do every week when I'm at home.

To the posters stating that airlines would never allow it I was under the distinct impression that Emirates were in the final phase of introducing mobile calls on its flights, once the aircraft is in cruising mode ??

I think a few airlines have already started trials or are proposing to have trials of mobile phone use. I would hate to see it implemented. An aircraft cabin is one of our few remaining mobile phone free sanctuaries.

 

Who is going to ensure that all mobile phones remain on silent? The FAs? Most times after the meal service they are nowhere to be seen. Just look at the mayhem caused after a flight lands. Once people have switched on their mobile phones the "beep beeps" can be constantly heard from the back of the cabin. And most mobile phone keypads are very loud anyway so just restricting to SMS only does not mean that the noise level is going to remain at acceptable levels.

Whenever some jerk sitting next to me decides to hold a loud conversation on a cellphone I politely wait until they are finished and then quiz them about all the details of the call they just made me endure.
