thaidave, this is nothing personal and i realy hope your business is thriving.however there has been nothing said about your traditional sundy roast, you seem to protect your breakfast only, for some reason. Can you honestly say that is a sunday roast or not,if not you need to take it off your menu as this was the main complaint.thats is why i went to your place as i assumed by your name that the roast would be english style.you seem to blame everybody else but yourself and not think that there are many many restaraunts here in pattaya that a customer could choose from.

to re-iterate,the big problem was the roast, forget the spaghetti and breakfast, and forget that at 1.00pm you could only supply 1 beef and no pork, and we realy should have got up and left your place seeing that you couldnt supply 2 sunday roasts.maybe you had a shortage of staff, maybe you had a new chef, but its your business not mine mate.

anyway i will be quite happy for this post to be deleted as i think we have all had our 10pworth,and its up to the customer to decide what he wants to do.me personaly have no problem with a brekkie there,if the norm is the example of someof the pics, but unless you have pics of a TRADITIONAL roast, and promising at least 2 available then i will go somewhere else.

i wish you many years of properous business.

If I'm paying with your money, no problem. If I'm paying with mine, I expect good quality.

These threads frankly amuse me

You deserve all you get

Coming to the opposite side of the planet then squealing like piglets if you cant get your tawdry national dishes, just like your mum makes.

Conversely try getting a passable Laarb Moo in Bradford

Or a good Som Tam Bhlalar in Yarhoo Nebraska.

Sheesh.

Sorry to hear about Bradford. Lots of good som tam in Nebraska. In Nebraska, it's 2008 this year.

In both places, though, you definitely will find people who get upset when something is advertised but not delivered. Same as Pattaya.

So there shouldn't be any foreign restaurants anyplace?

Bradford probably does a good curry.

And as to the available food in Nebraska, I hope it isn't limited to burgers and KFC. Oops, a burger is German.

American style "Hamburgers" (or "Frankfurters" though we usually just call 'em "Hot Dogs" these days) are only tenuously related to the original German dishes.

As an aside, while as a yank can't claim to know what a "proper" English roast beef is supposed to be like, but I know what I like, and I'm surprised that no one's mentioned The Sportsman on Soi 13. I thought the roast beef at both the Queen Vic was good, but I like the Sportsman's a lot better, usually get it when I'm in town.

Guest King_Midas

I accept what you say dave, but i didnt even know if this place was owned by thai or farang.when the girl totaly ignored my mai aroi, that was the time to move on.

I also agree that it must be very difficult to control thai staff as i have seen first hand how childlike they can be,but you chose your business and you need a training programme set up maybe.

Sadly a complete waste of time trying to educate Thai employees !!

The staff take the view that its loss of face to be anything but rude and defend their employer/establishment.

Yes this post is old but just reading back through past years !

Wasnt expecting this thread to be opened again.

We are in 2011 and i have been to Daves for a brekkie and its very tasty and great value for money, but not had a sunday roast.Must look at his website to see if there are pics of a traditional sunday roast.

We should all be moving forward from this post and everybody give daves place a try,as the original post was 2008,and we know things change daily here in Pattaya

I went to canterbry tales twice in november and once in may

breakfast all 3 times

service 1st time crap - had to go to counter after 10 minutes to prompt someone to take my order (I was on my own)

the breakfast - excellent

2nd time served quick -friendly staff - excellent breakfast - (I was with a group.)

3rd time poor service ignored again and the eggs where fried fast and crusty on the bottom (I was on my own)

I was a chef for over 15 years and a head chef at the age of 19 ( think bastard) - breakfast is a hard thing to get consistant and the customers are the most grouchy.

Overall the brekkies at cantabury are good and I would go back and yes service has been remiss at times but TTT.

as a chef I have always considered the breakfast shift as the hardest and canterbury to overall be consistant says volumes.

I like the atmosphere there but the food... hmmm! :clueless

I'm not British, so can't judge it really, but find the breakfast quite bad. I mean its not horrible but that is almost impossible to do... we're talking about frying an egg, some bacon and a sausage, add some canned baked beans and a slice of toast, filling a glass with weird orange splash and preparing some instant coffee.

A good breakfast in my world consists at least of freshly squeezed juice and some proper brewed coffee, but you can't expect that for 90 baht I know.

Only had two meals at C/Tails

1/Breakfast was pretty good

2/Lunch with 3 friends was the worst meal I have had in Pattaya in 10 years.

I think the bookshop is super, and will continue to use it on every visit to Pattaya, as to food I will eat elsewhere

Be Nice
