guest house rates now 1000 and more

Recommended Posts

I am over in Pattaya next month, usually stay in hotel but was considering apartment in Soi LK to keep costs down.

Was shocked to see a guest house in that area advertising their better rooms for 1000 and 1200 in Feb/March.

What planet are they on to be raising their rates to that level given the current situation.

I can get a full service hotel with pool for those kind of rates.

Surely no one is going to book in there at those rates.

I agree but watch hotel rates climb even higher. At some point and I think it's sooner then later Pattaya will start to price it self out of the market.

I have stayed in LKMetro for my last 6 visits, and have NEVER paid more than 500 bht ++ on a monthly basis, and would see no justification in paying more!

This post is absolutely useless and without NAMING & SHAMING these greedy establishments is nothing more to me than shit stirring!

I do know of 2 relative new places (Ownership) that have increased to around 800 on a monthly basis, but 1200 a nite, com'n please tell in fairness to the others!

Someone else stated that the old Lloydies now "Armagedon" is asking for 1000 bht if true then I feel that they are going to be quiet in these hard days!

I popped into the Armagedon Guest House over the holidays. I did not get to visit the rooms as they were fully occupied. However, the bar area has been done up on the expensive side and I presume that the rooms are the same. Perhaps this is why the price has been upped to 1k baht.

B) Yes it was the Armaggedon that I was referring to-nice looking rooms but unless they are in the process of adding a roof top swimming pool, can't see how those rates can be justified.

I note the comment about it being full now,but presumably that is with people paying the old rates, can't see anyone paying the new high rates,1200 for a guest house room-WTF!!

Sounds good value in CLUB Blu, and its only a year old. I know guys who stay at Le Katai and they had newly refurbed rooms last year. Good value there too. :allright

If guest houses are trying to get Bt1000 a night ten I hope they get it because it means they are doing something right to part fools from their money. Honestly, that is like giving a bird twice what she wants for a shag.

This post makes no sense to me, there are plenty of good rooms to be found in the 300-700 catategory.

I am sure in a month's time that there will be plenty of good hotel rooms available for 1000 or less.

Yes of course Hotels are advertising high rates and sending emails to people asking high prices .... hotels are behaving like the girls in that they will ask as high a price that someone is dumb enough to pay.

Pattaya will be full of empty rooms very soon and like the girls the only way that hotels will get customers is to lower their asking prices ..... unlike the girls the hotels cant move their rooms back to the rice farms in Issan

A hotel is often a small cramped room with a shitty shoe box sized TV (per Lek hotel old wing) . Were the apartments offered suites perhaps, with big screen and DVD player? I don't spend much time in reception, not the hotel pool full of brats, so a nice spacious apartment is worth 1000/day! Edited by jacko

:ang2 "Far too expensive" for a room above a bar!! :wtf

Can't understand why a person would be willing to pay that much, :D LK metro is full of bars with decent rooms ..AND!! for far less than this bar is asking.

I dont care how nice the room is , cetainly not a mansion, when it's all boiled down it is still just ........a room above a bar!! :sosad

For the same price one can get a decent room in a hotel with all the trimmings <grin

EG =elevator pool, room sevice etc, etc, and no noise from the bar downstairs :D

The guest houses are filling up because the UK folks are having to abandon the hotels because of the pounding their currency is taking.

Yeah, and It's not only the UK, most countries are getting a poor exchange rate :sosad

Most of us are looking to save a bit on accomodation costs, : but I can't see these people rushing to book a " GUEST HOUSE" charging 1200 baht a night :D

I stopped there for week at xmas ,great rooms, but bed was to hard for my liking.

I paid 900 bahts and was well worth it.

I do not like stopping in hotels ,I never use swimming pools

Rooms here are far better than many hotels where you pay far more.

Have 6 rooms all different based on different themes

I stopped in Hollywood room

just because the rooms are guesthous as opposed to hotel doesnt mean some of them are not better sized and equipped than many well know pattaya hotels charging twice as much .

the secrets is finding out which ones are the best before you get here .

youd pay a damn sight more for the rooms at my place if they belonged to any hotel in pattaya .
