Meter taxi suvarnabhumi to pattaya

Recommended Posts

Due to Jan & Paul retiring from their taxi duties (lost in space ) I now have to decide weather to go upstairs to get a meter taxi or book one of the transfer company's in pattaya.

I've been reading some disturbing news, are some of the meter guys trying to up the prices ?thought i'd get a taxi no problem upstairs for 1200 baht ( driver pays tolls ) but now not so sure.

Any bm traveled this way recently ?

Or any recomendation for transfer company's .

Thanks Steve

Steve, the problem i had with the the airport taxi is that he didnt know his way around Pattaya to find my hotel.

Another BM complained of driviing around Patt's for an hour. I also used Jan and never paid attention to the ride into the city.

The USA flights get in at midnite or i would use Bell's. After following the many threads on this i'm going to use Mr.T.

on Diana.

Edit to answer your question- I got jacked up to 1400 , was tired and didn't argue.

I once agreed 850 baht for a trip from Patts to the airport in the low season with a driver from Mr. T

However he stung me for all of the toll charges along the way. When we arrived I only had a 1000 baht note which he took. He then placed my luggage about 5 metres from the car then quickly back tracked to his car saying 'Oh this if for me, thank you', got in and sped away.

Agree with that bill, when Jan was pregnant i got a meter taxi was at night & the driver lost his way coming in to pattaya until i was in a area where i recognised i could guide him.

After two longs flights into los i want to get there asap so not interested in bus service.

I read somewhere on this site where a guy wrote on a piece of paper the agreed price ,showed it to the taxi driver

so when he got to pattaya there would be no dispute over price,i thought that was good advice.

So guys whot did you pay airport to patts ?

Pre-book your car. E-mail Mr Toom or one of the others. It should be 1200 Baht including tools and there will be a guy waiting with your name on a board. After endless hours of flying and jet lag it's worth it even if its a couple of hundred extra Baht.

The taxi stand itself will issue price vouchers for 1,500baht I believe still. Thats also the flat rate thats listed on many of the meter taxis rate cards from BKK or the airport. Once they give you the voucher, the driver has to take you for that price.

It is advantageous having a driver from Pattaya that knows their way around Pattaya, as you just jump in the car and relax until you reach your hotel. Especially with the new Pattaya Call Center, a pre-booked car with the driver knowing your hotel name, could take the most inept of drivers to the front door of your hotel.

It would be about the same thing as having a Pattaya driver take you for various things within BKK. Yes the drivers will be familiar with nana, maybe the US or UK embassy and a few other places, but just won't have that intimate knowledge a local driver will have, yet again a good reason for companies being based out of BKK and Pattaya.

As well, if a driver does try to raise the price for any reason, with a pre-booked car, you can always just call the owners or managers and have that sorted immediately, as opposed to a driver where you don't have any recourse in that scenario.

In may the taxi driver quoted us 3000 which i know was very exspensive but there were four of us and just wanted to get there after the 2 long flights so we paid as not a great deal amongst 4. Previously i've paid 1500.

Where are your offices in Bangkok and Pattaya? You get the taxi number, address and relevant telephone numbers on a printed form if you take a taxi from the rank at the airport. If the shit hits the fan with a pre-booked taxi, all you have is some guy's telephone number and e-mail address.

If a Pattaya based driver doesn't know BKK and a BKK based driver doesn't know Pattaya, how do folks get between hotels in BKK and Pattaya?

Used Mr T services both ways on my just completed trip. Both trips I asked for a car and both times I had a van pick me up. Charged the same price as the car because a group had been taken to the airport prior to me being picked up and on my return to the airport the driver was picking up a group.

I maintain a 'death grip' on a 20 Baht note when I give it to a Baht bus driver. :D You can imagine the grip I maintain on a 1K note.

Tom ,you stop and ask the motorcy guys. Had to do that Airport to Patts. and later to the find the Waterside Marriott in Bkk.

I mention this for the newbs stuck in this situation. Don't let the driver just meander about. Didn't tip them but looking back it probably would have been a good idea. They may guide you in.

i cant belive you guys overpaying, you can get to your pattaya hotel for 200 baht

but you wont to pay 1000 baht, why? :allright

The bus is great but unfortunately it is not a 24 hour service and if your flight arrival time is delayed then you could end up waiting for 2 hours for the next bus(hopefully not the last bus of the day). After 24 hours of travelling I don't feel like pissing about the airport for an extra 2 hours to save €16.

Well give us the contact info, don't keep it a secret. If your refering to the Bell service, I arrive at 11 PM and the next Bell run is at 8 AM. After spending close to 24 hours getting to LOS I don't feel like waiting at the airport for another 9 hours so I'll overpay gladly to get to my room in Pattaya.

If this is the Bell bus then by the time I have got off the plane, immigration, got my bag and cleared customs then I just miss one and cannot be bothered to wait 2 hours for the next one .
