Emirates A380 ex Manchester

Recommended Posts

Strong rumour doing the rounds at Manchester Airport is that flights EK017/018 will change to A380 commencing 2Q 2010

Also read that EK384/385 DXB-BKK-HKG will be upgrading to a A380 as well. Not sure when but apparently it is in the operating plan.

Will give 2 times daily A380's to BKK from DXB, make for easier connections to make the whole journey on A380's.

Best Regards

All prices increased from 1st November as UK save the planet taxes kicked in (phase 1 of 2). Emirates are good, but connections have become increasingly nonsensical. If you are flexible, there are occasionally some good connections, usually for the evening flight. The sooner Emirates or Etihad do a direct flight the better.

Why would Emirates Etihad or whomever out of middle east do a direct uk-bkk service.

All airlines go via their hub. :banana

Loved Emirates and have flown with them for a few years now. Their connections were usually 1hr 40mins out and 3 hours returning but they are all up the left now with most connections having 6, 7 8 hrs and upwards waiting time. Their prices are also increasing alarmingly.

I'm going to try Qatar, great connecting times and very very cheap compared to Emirates!

I read about the DXB/BKK/HKG upgrade as well. I also believe that it is EK017/018 that is earmarked for the MAN A380 service. If both of those come to fruition it is exceptionally good news for the MAN guys (currently, I wouldn't set foot on one of their 777s). See the current schedules/connections ........

The fleet of A380's is getting bigger by the month so i would assume lots more places will see them

With a total of 58 orders, Emirates, the largest airline in the Middle East, is Airbus's biggest customer for the A380. The Dubai-based carrier is due to receive six of the superjumbos next year, slowing to five in 2011. Deliveries are expected to rise to 12 in 2012 and 11 in 2013.

Roll on, 4 weeks today i am on the 777-300ER to Dubai and then the A380 on to Bangkok 2guns

Well you are certainly right.......

So for a direct flight from Manchester to Bangkok it has to be..Thai (not so keen) or BA (never again)..

Or an oriental/Australian carrier heading to it's Hub/Home stopping over.

Eva would work!

As far as I know there are no direct flights from Manchester to Bangkok. Which is a shame. We flew from MCR to BKK with Malaysia via KL a couple of times and they were OK.

Correct, there is not. The nearest is likely KL, followed by Singapore.

I keep hoping someone will do one, changing at Amsterdam is tiresome, at LHR it is horrible.

I transited in Doha last time, it was Ok although there is a bit of extra flying time going via the Middle East.

It is unlikely I will ever see the inside of a A380 as the stopover from Ncl - Dbx is 9 hrs that is way too long for me

:D

Be Nice

moby69,

Why not depart from MAN or BHX on the evening flights with Emirates, then catch the A380 the next morning from Dubai, that's what I do from ABZ, if I can.

Well worth it IMHO, great aircraft, try and get seat 68A if flying economy.

I can't understand why people are saying that the connection times are bad with Emirates. If you do a search on their website using search by "Schedule" rather than "Price" there are flights offered with good connections, both from Manchester and Newcastle, to and from BKK. Possibly not the cheapest options but worth looking at. I've booked this way many times with good connections at the cheapest price. If not offered at a reasonable price for the date selected, try the next date. Some travel agencies are lazy and don't give you options. Also sites like Expedia, Ebookers and Travelocity may not offer the best flights. Try the Emirates website and help yourselves get a good connection.

Good post and if you use Thai travel agents for any reason be aware that when you ask them to book a flight they always look specifically at the cheapest class in economy.

No seats and the agent says full, and never bothers to tell you that a higher price of economy ticket will be available !

Just back from LoS and flew with Emirates, Manchester - Dubai - Bangkok. Booked with e-bookers and still got a good price with shorter stopovers, (about 2 hours on the way out and 1 1/2 hour on the return). The flights are available if you look around, booking early also helps, I booked my christmas flights in September.

I'm now looking at flights for July and the short stopovers are still available.

Cheers

I have always used the Emirates website and have booked 10 flights with them (via Newcastle) 3 for me and 7 for my brother.

My brothers flights (3 or more a year) have always been the good connections up to this time :beer and at a good price never more than £550

This time they are coming in at £673 with a nine hr layover or £714 for the short layover over £200 more than his last flight in September 09

His dates are FIXED so he cannot move around? I could have got a ticket for two days shorter for £581 but that was with a 22 yes Twenty-Two hour layover in Dubai :D

We live at Newcastle and it is easier/cheaper to fly via Heathrow than Manchester

Be Nice

Read today that it is confirmed from the 1st September.

The above info is tentative and subject to change for operational reasons and subject to delivery of aircraft from Airbus on time. It is not yet clear where the freed up B77Ws from these routes will be deployed. The new A380 flights haven't been loaded into reservation systems yet as this is still a provisional plan.

By January 2011 Emirates will have 15 A380s inshallah. These aircraft will fly from DXB to JFK, YYZ, MAN, LHR, CDG, SYD, AKL, ICN, PVG, PEK, BKK and JED.
