Cheers. No need to take the minibus as I always travel solo       Yes thats what I was thinking as well. Are you going down to 900 now ? Ill book a taxi with you if you do

If thats the case, ignore all my comments about Mr Toom, I must have got my taxi firms mixed up

I used Mr T for the 1st time on Tuesday, emailed him the day before and got a reply within 2 hours. The minibus was waiting for me as I checked out of hotel; surprised at the minibus as I was sole passenger from Pattaya to airport; very comfortable car. Fare was 900 and she did not expect a tip -

I've ridden in the minibus a few times when I booked a private car. If you ask for the minibus the fare is 1600. Why we got the minibus at the private car rate is that after they dropped you off they had a scheduled pickup for a small group so better to travel to BKK and get 900 baht than zilch.

  • 2 weeks later...

I wont be using Mr Toom again he has let me down to many times. I had ordered a taxi from my hotel in Pattaya to utapao airport the taxi arrived on time but the driver didnt speak any English, I told him " Utapao airport " twice, he nodded that he understood, I closed my eyes for a quick snooze, 30 minutes later I realised I was on the way to Suvarnabhumi Int'l airport  and was gonna miss my flight to Samui, as the driver couldnt understand that I was trying to tell him we were going the wrong way I phoned Mr Toom, he laughed a little bit about my situation , and then told the driver where I should be going, they both thought it was very funny. Luckily I managed to get to utapao on time. decided a tip was out of the question.

Another time I ordered a taxi for 2.30 am as I wanted to get to Suvarnabhumi for my flight home, by 2.40 i was still waiting, so phoned mr Toom, a very sleepy voice told me he hadnt got a taxi for me but would see what he could do, fuck that, I wasnt going to hang around waiting for him so got my hotel to get a taxi ASAP, about 10 minutes later I was on the way to the airport, the price wasnt as cheap , but I knew I wasnt going to miss my flight. Around 3.10 I had a phone call from Mr Toom asking where I was,as a taxi was waiting at my hotel. He didnt sound to happy that I hadnt waited, not that I care, as I wont use him again,

Two weeks ago Thaifasttrack let me down, no show at the plane, they didnt give me a contact #.

Mr. T did not let me down. My Thai phone was ringing before i passed customs. The aptly named Patience provided good company , safe driving in a newer car.

They are the lowball THB1200 service, right?

I am using this one: http://www.fasttrack.in.th/ based on recommendations on a frequent flyer site, though it is THB1600.

I am also arriving in business class on Cathay so I suspect they may provide the fast track card anyway but for $50 it is not a world ending cost. And being met by a factotum for the first time cannot hurt.

Rick, i believe you do have a good one. I have used BFS in the past with great service. Called me at the hotel early on day of departure, then twice on the motorway to set up the meeting point with my driver. They didn't know i had a business ticket but checked me in at that counter anyway. Escorted me to the business class lounge and told me to enjoy the free drinks, they would come back to take me to the gate. I passed , told her i would be fine at that point.

Their site now says We are not offering that service at this time.

So i tried Thaifastrack with poor results. Please let me know how your service went, Pm if you don't want to start a thread.

I know the debate on its worth, same cost as a couple Soi 6 sesssions ,but i don't give a FF. I travel 24 hours to/from Washington usually in economy.

For me its worth it.

Bill

Mr T provides an outstanding service.

1000 baht fom the airport to your hotel in Pattaya with all tolls included.

Mr T's cars have always looked clean and safe to me and every driver has spoken sufficient english to know where I am going.

His drivers have often waitedfor hours at the airport due to the late arrival of my plane at no extra cost.

Well done to Mr T for providing the best value taxi service from the airport to Pattaya

No the thread started about Mt T..... then Thailearner asked
Why would you use Mr Toom for a run from Pattaya to Utapao ?
And pondlife went on to reply
because its 30 minutes drive, and he is a taxi service

Then Thailearner

He works out of Bangkok not Pattaya

I have used Toom many times, and I actually thought he was based in Pattaya, perhaps wrong. But for sure, some of the his taxis that arrived were... one was from around the corner of my old place on Soi Siam CC. So I don't understand why a trip to Utapao from Pattaya should not be offered to him.

Anyhow, the thread is about Mr T.... MM dislikes confusion. :crying:

I will be doing a TR and will add this info.

Here's one way I distinguished the two (of a few services similarly available) - they take VISA and MC with Verified By ViSA and the MC equivalent, and don't depend on PayPal which is just a way of saying - the bank won't give us a credit card account - bad signal.

And in a frequent flyer forum I frequent the one I chose is mentioned with good experience and the 400 baht difference is not worth saving.

What will grind my bunions is if Cathay gives me the same thing in Business Class in both directions, but since I have never been to this airport a guide will be a nice thing to use anyway.

I use a similar service in Managua airport on departure as they not only have a separate entrance and security (which is VERY lax) they check you in , check your bags, run you thorough passport control, give you drinks and a sandwich in a private lounge and allow the people that brought you to come to the lounge and wait with you.

Arrival same same only I rarely use it as I arrive when there might be 2 people in immigration and 10 guys waiting for the rest. If you have a lot of luggage they handle customs and immigration too, sometimes useful to not have to pay a tip to not have your bags x-rayed on arrival.

  • 1 month later...

Used Mr. T yesterday. With less than 24 hours notice, he replied and comnfirmed.

Driver was waiting when I cleared Customs. Late model Mitsubishi sedan; great driver - safe, good English, and Van Morrison CD. :allright

No problem for rest stop. Stuck in traffic for royal motorcade but, other than that, great deal. Will use service again. Can't beat it for the price.

I wish Mr. T was a bit more responsive with the email though even taking the time difference into account.

I just emailed him with all details and my emails add a signature to the end each time.

Wait 20 hours the reply what's your name?

I reply it's in the email each time I write to you. Now to wait 20 more hours....still haven't got him to say yes, I'll be there just reply with your name.

I do these nearly a month in advance just to allow for hang time each punt.
