Paul had been very impressed by John's mini medley, 'Happiness is a warm Gun' on the White Album.

The medley on Abbey Rd, beginning with track 3 "Here Comes the Sun King', (a 'homage' to Fleetwood Mac's Albatross)...... splits the songs and portions of songs between John and Paul.

Although the medley is definitely Paul's baby and he deserves most of the credit....Over the years I've come to appreciate the quirky Lennon contributions more and more. Especially when you consider that Paul tried many times to match this medley on his solo albums. and great as those solo efforts were he never equalled what we have here.....

.....John's voice alternating between quiet and rasping......George's melodic, memorable guitar work ....(his best since Revolver) helps the songs to seque seamlessly........ Stir in George Martin's orchestrations and what we got has become a timeless treasure.

And it finishes with, for me, the crowning glory...... 'The End'..........Starting with Ringo's only solo.......interestingly the left-handed,right-handed drum-kit player didn't know it was going to be a solo......other instruments were taken off afterwards, leaving us with this memorable gem.

The reason I like what follows so much, is that John from somewhere summoned up the courage to tell Yoko to, 'wait outside for this one dear'. Therefore the last song they ever recorded together in July 1969 was just the 4 'boys' and Martin alone in the studio...as it had been for their first recording just 7 years before.

Paul ,George and John rotate the solos in-turn until.....'And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make' Paul at his very best lyrically.

And 'Phew!' That was it....... They were done.......Forever....."You can come in now Yoko'

We were lucky to have them.

Great summery, atlas...

Lou Reed is a legend and I love his work. Unfortunately I never got to see him live.

Major artists working in the post-punk genre such as The Fall, Public Image Ltd, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Suicide and other acts like David Bowie, Talking Heads, Pavement, The Stone Roses, Lumerians,[19] Happy Mondays,[20] Talk Talk and Primal Scream have cited Can as an influence.
