I have changed my way of travel recently and bring as little as possible. I used to need 20 KG but now manage on 8 or 9 however this does leave me a bit short on shirts, socks etc at times.

Where do the locals shop in Pattaya?

I have seen mention of a factory outlet. Does it exist and is it any good?

Where do the locals shop for quality (or alternatively) cheap clothing?

Seems to me that mens clothing in Cambodia was better value for money at the lower end but bugger going there for a tee shirt.

I usually get some odds and ends at the Soi Buakow market but would rather have quality clothing as long as its at the right price.

Personally I bring all the clothes I want or need from home so I don't have to go shopping. I wear 2XL most everything so sizing is a little difficult for me in Asia. Why bother spending time with shopping when there's so much else to do? I can fit all I need in a checked luggage, and another small carry on for my electronics, valuables, and laptop. It's not like you have to go carrying around your luggage with you everywhere in Pattaya and need portability?

Im a fat cunt so all the usual joints don't stock t shirt looking tents so i normally just head straight to Made in Thailand on second road, decent selection of shirts/T-shirts/shorts and trouser to suit all shapes of bodies.

Fashions in Thailand are hideous, just about every Tailor shop I ever walked past looks like some throwback from the 80's.

Bring clothes with you. :thumbup (unless you're stuck in the 80's :clueless )

That too. I don't think Thailand is even a dot on the map of the world of fashion. Bring your own clothes that you will be comfortable in.

Good chance most any name brand you see in Thailand will be overpriced compared to UK, Oz, or especially the USA. I suspect some of these are in fact fakes even if sold in an “authorized” shop. Mate of mine recently bought famous name underwear in a mall shop. Problem is that company doesn't market underwear, well except in Thailand it seems, i.e. it's very likely rebadged.

Nike or Adidas trainers purchased at factory outlet - soles delaminated in 6 weeks. Same with sandals from Mike Mall. But I do have trainers from Central that are OK.

Shirts from tailor are maybe OK if copied from your shirt. Fabric selection is limited.

Mostly I order from the US and pay postage and duty (if any – sometimes there is and sometimes not) and sometimes I ask a mate who's kind enough to bring over purchases from the US.

I've used made in Thailand also, but during sun shine hours it's hotter than hell and the air don't move at all.

Mike's shopping mall has same stuff on first floor, little more expensive, but air con shopping makes it worth it daytime.

I practically live in Adidas kit. The "official" outlet is in Bangkok at Muang Thong Thani - they restock on a Thursday, so Friday is the best time to visit. Be aware that items destined for the local market are a totally different cut from those destined for EU/US markets. There is also a Levi's outlet on Sukhumvit Rd in BKK - around Soi 99, or thereabouts.

Thanks Guys. I take it from the responses that no one sees Pattaya as a clothes buying destination. Points taken.

Mikes has all the good kit, shirts undies and trow, all at good prices

All the good German shoes as well, but not so competitive these day.

You are right about tailors, they have no idea of fashion, but do a very good job of the classics, blazers and the like.

I bought a cashmere jacket for 2000 baht or $100 NZ , mate bought a jacket length from Regent st London for $1200

and still has to get it made.

Mens clothing is tight but not tight, that there is no overlap places that are prone to stack the horse area of the knee and ankle. When a group of pants around his ankles, one gets the impression that the person is less than what they actually are, the ideal is an edge to rest a bit when the shoes.

I recognise the words but not in the way they have been assembled. Maybe you could try that again.

And I suspect the post should be in the "Business Owners" section.

I returned to farangland this afternoon for a few days and one of my priorities is to do some clothes shopping. I am sick of wearing the same shit that me and every other clown buys at the elcheapo stalls. The pattayaman uniform of plastic sandles, camo shorts, and blue check shirt is wearing a bit thin.
