A guy that just had two strokes is still recommending Burger King, with all the saturated fat, sodium, and processed crap flour. It is mind-boggling how much bad information can be stored in one tubby little head.

I have found that to be incorrect a lot of thai girls have not been to a fancy restaurant and when taken enjoy the food , it's the amount of money spent on a meal that they don't appreciate

Its not uncalled for at all. Burger King, whether its the plastic tables or horrendously unhealthy cheapo food, is just a silly suggestion. Even moreso coming from a guy thats already gotten himself into a pretty dire health situation. Do you think everyone wants to start stroking out at 60?

Another place I used to go was the restaurant at the top of the 27-story Markland Hotel. Great views up there and a few of the dishes were good, I remember one that a TG particularly liked (kowcookabit or something?)

 

Just don't go during bad weather, as I once got caught in a lightning storm up there.

Moom Arroy is mainly Thai...the amount of farang that have found it over the years has increased though...and so has tour groups unfortunately..

 

 

It seemed to be a place for Bankokian Thais on a Friday night to start their weekend away...

I have no idea if it is still open but try the revolving restuarent at the top of the tower at Jomtien...then you can slide down the wires without paying!!

Lunch today at the (new-ish) Vientiane Restaurant in Soi Nern Plab Wan

 

 

 

 

Very pleasant vast wooden sala affair with masses of seating. Being afternoon was pretty quiet so seating out overlooking the big lotus lake was readily available.

 

Food and service (including the whistle blowing and mad dash with sizzling hotplates) as to be expected with restaurants of this name.

 

All in all very enjoyable and will be back

It might do more business, but that doesn't mean it's sells decent quality food....

Yes..every now and again,,I may have a BK or Macdonalds once a year..but I try to take my wife out more often than that though ...and the OP specifically asked for a lunch place that he can take a female friend..

Jomtien seems to be a good place to find a good lunch place.

Make sure you are near soi 8 you can have lunch and send the lady to have her nails done. You can then wonder down Soi 8 to the yellow house and get your what ever done.
