There is a thread running on Thai Visa saying that BBQ Bob's has given up. Is it true? Other than being a little pricey, I liked the place. Dale is a nice guy and if it has closed, down, I hate to see that happen

It's been reported on several boards that Dale has thrown in the towel. Some of those contributing to those threads knew Dale or had checked out the restaurant to see if it was closed, so the reports appear to be true.

I've heard that he was hit with a 2-year tax liability of which he was previously unaware, and that his cook left suddenly after a disagreement, but I can't say if that is correct. I do know that he was not the world's best at taking advice from long-term expats or Thais though. Sorry he's gone, nice enough chap - this place can be very unforgiving if you get your business model wrong and are not very adaptable.

Over priced, crap food and lousey service.

To be expected.

Actually I always enjoyed the girls working there. At least to me, they were chatty and friendly.

I love hamburgers and I think the hamburgers were as good or better than any found in Pattaya and the surrounding areas. I DON'T want any fillers or flavoring in my hamburger. I'll put on the condiments that I want. If I want a spicy sausage sandwich, I'll order a sausage sandwich.

Two large trucks there a few days ago being filled up with everything from inside including the kitchen sink.

That's a shame. Sounds like it is likely gone forever. Pattaya needs a Beer, Burgers and Dogs place along with a comfortable bar, friendly girls and good service. I really don't care for a heavy meal when I'm drinking but I do like a good sandwich. A small menu like burgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, chili soup and french fries would suit me fine when I'm out on the prowl.

A polite belch is better than a sneaky fart.

IMHO...that's the description of the Pattaya Beer Garten...icee beer, decent... inexpensive food... and most of the time...very pleasant surroundings :chogdee

I agree except for the menu. The hamburgers need some improvement and I don't remember seeing any chili dogs on the menu. Did I miss them? Despite that, it is indeed my favorite place in Pattaya.

If so rather sad, hardly an environment to cultivate new businesses.

I agree that this is not a place to undertake running a business lightly.....

Nor would I think employing the lokals to be easy on the patience.....

Sorry to hear another falang has had to run with the tail between the legs. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.
