Happy gogo and alcatraz memberships?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Was bar hopping last thursday night, and was refused entry to Happy s and Alcatraz due to not being a member!...My last visit to Patts 6 weeks earlier, I was granted entry each time no probs.

Anyone know how and how much to become a member at these clubs?. I couldnt get much info out of the security.

Cheers

I can handle membership for you at a discount if you want. I can get a two-for-one membership for $1,500 Australian -- and good for life. Let me know if you're interested, I'll PM you details for you to deposit the fee.

There is no membership.

Righto. No gogo has a membership requirement.

Some gogo security guys have either taken it upon themselves, or been instructed by management, to tell people who look "Indian" that the gogo is "members only", or you can go in for say 200 baht/person to waive the membership requirement.

If you are in that ethnic group, you can thank your parsimonious fellows of the same ethnicity for making this situation.

That comment would have got you in trouble over at Pattaya-Addicts, those bastards are ridiculously uptight!

If you missed Alcatraz, IMHO you saved wasting your time. Again IMHO the most boring go go in Pattaya.

Here here, the jail theme is necessary to keep you in.

OP, I think perhaps you look 'ethnic' as they used to say in Oz.

Sad but you will find plenty of places who do not restrict you.

Similarly, lots of guys complain about farang surcharges in Bangkok soapies when, in fact, they're levied for exactly the same reason i.e. a particular ethnic group (farang) is viewed as being stingy.

I've only been in Alcatraz once and I must admit I like some of the uniforms. The girls in police uniforms (short skirts, black boots, and handcuffs hanging from their belt) is a bit of a turn on :thumbup

That being said lady drinks were a bit high and girls didn't seem that touchy feely. Gogos are always changing, I might give them another try next trip. :whistling:

Yep, I was born in Fiji to an Indian Mum and Aussie (white) Dad, and have retained my mothers dark skin. My last trip I was with an aussie white guy and never had a problem the 10+ times we visited the two clubs. Ah well...its all good, they missed out on my 4100 baht drinks bill later that night...haha.

In Australia i sometimes get refused entry because of my big size.

Cheers for the replys fellas.

Voodoo, show up at FLB bar this Wednesday at 8 pm, there will be a gogo bar crawl led by MM. You will get two drinks for the price of one, and you will not be refused entry to any of the gogo's. Thai gogo owners are the most likely to refuse you entrance, just as they refuse to give a drink free to the bar crawls. The farang owned gogo's that will allow you in, are much more worthy of your hard earned money. You will not only have a good night out and meet some new friends, but you will learn of friendly gogos worth your patronage. Everyone always has a great time on the bar crawls.

That's the spirit! If they don't want your baht there are plenty of better gogos(and girls) that do.

BTW, welcome to the board! :thumbup

Above is very good advice mate

Go-gos can be weird re there entry policies

Last trip I had to escort 3 Thai guys so they could get into some Go-gos on LK (Office,Kiss).

They told me, had to do with culture as some girls get embarased if one of their countrymen in bar,Seems weird as many go-gos have male employees.

Then again TIT :clueless :clueless :clueless

Have a good time Mate dont let it bother you :chogdee

Spending 4100 Baht in any bar is a huge waste of dough admitted or not, really.

They're having you on, having one of those "some of my best friends are" moments. IN GENERAL bars have these racist/racial policies for what they think are their own best business interests. The stereotype for "Indians" as they call them generically, hardly spend money, even sharing one beer -- but DO pester the girls to the point of torment (cf: India and "Eve-teasing"). The stereotype for Thai men, they figure will get drunk and get into fights with other customers over the girls. Many keep out Thai WOMEN because some of them will rat the place out, they are feminists. etc, etc, etc. And of course they all have anecdotes about why they "know" this and why they have barriers at the doors.

There's the other way of looking at it, though. Some of those preferred farang customers in the go-gos are total prixks and models for axxhole posters. They see an "Indian" or an "Arab" and right away they want to fight him. They see a Thai (really!) they want to humiliate him. So again, the barowner can argue it is in HIS business interest to keep it segregated. I don't buy any of it, but then I don't own a Pattaya go-go either. Yeah, you run a business, once in a while a customer will not be a perfect model for you.

Sad about this discrimination though, still the bar loses what he would have spent.

Voodoo, time to join the full board, read this

http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/5880-read-this-before-posting-on-this-forum/

They have made a decision to discriminate and not let certain groups in.

Saying they 'lose money' on that decision implies they are not in it for the money.

How would you feel about them blocking a group of Cobra MC guys... if I were inside, I might be glad.

Guess that depends on how much that you have, and the amount of fun that you want to have.

not really if you spend 2-3 hours in their have 15-20 drinks buy a couple of girls sitting on your lap 4-5 drinks each and even throw some ping pong balls , 4,100 isnt too bad. If you wanted to have a really big fun night i could justify 4100baht

Its the bins of 10,000-50,000 that are ludicrous , that's just throwing money away.
