Indian food reccomendation....

Recommended Posts

after 3.5 years living here and having experienced the not that good, the pretty darn bad and the positively ugly - A new place has opened that shines out like a shaft of gold when all around is dark:

The place - Cheap Charlie's, Soi Lenkee

i had chicken tika masala with garlic nan, which as i recall cost 280b - the quality of which is on a par with the decent quality indian restaurants i frequented when i lived in the UK....

The owner used to have an Indian restaurant in Birmingham (UK)....

I think i have a better one for you, though i havent tried the one you suggest yet.

I thoroughly recommend Maleez, its on Buakhow just 20 yrds south of the Lengkee-Diana junction. It only sells chicken

curries but they are very tasty with a thick consistency.

All the curries are priced at 110B and the Thai rice is 15B.

Try it mate i think you will like.

This sounds very promising. maybe I will take the family there for Xmas dinner..

I think this is a good thread to withdraw my previous recommendations for the Indian on Beach road near Soi 10. It really, really used to be a good place but went there last year and the service was bad and food disgusting but the Indian couple weren't there and it was run by Thais..

280 Baht is expensive just like all the other Falang food in Pattaya. Forget about how much it costs back home, this is basically chicken, rice, bread and a few spices, 100 Baht is about right.

A couple of pics would be nice. Is it an Indian restaurant, or just somewhere that has chicken tikka + nan on their menu? The name is a bit confusing.

I was in the uk a few months ago and 280 baht is cheap for indian food.I paid 78 quid for 4 of us,only one drink each too, bloody expensive in the uk for curries now

This thread prompted me to pop into my local Indian restaurant in Hat Yai (which isn't aimed at farangs) this afternoon. Most dishes on the menu are under 100 Baht, but not chicken tikka masala for some reason - 220 Baht plus rice and/or naan on top of that. I've no idea why it's relatively expensive, but it is.

My last UK one was a 'Sunday lunchtime special'........I thought it strange thing to have instead of roast lamb and mint sauce but it was a social gathering. It was a good price...any starter....any main...one bread or rice extra thing, excepting prawn dishes. It seemed reasonable I think at about £15/head, but the beer wasn't cheap and they certainly gave you plenty of time to drink it. Packed with kids too.... rather have the roast lamb and then go down the pub.

Or the fact that it is not originally an Indian dish and is perhaps perceived as a 'farang' item.

Yeah a few years back some MP wanted to debate a motion for Glasgow to get European Union recognition as the city that originated Chicken Tikka masala.

They invent curries in Scotland and make most of the world's bag-pipes in Pakistan....... Funny that!

I used to order from there and they'd bring it to Jonny's Bar across the road where I'd watch the footie on the big screen. Food was pretty good but I don't think they're Indian.

The guy is from Pakistan, good food and large portions

I had an unexpected, gap in my diary and consequently a 'free night' (which is necessary if you want to stink the condo and the bed out with curry), so I got myself a take-away from the Jomtien Market.

Quite pleasant and I can thoroughly recommend it as a diuretic.
