Was just looking through a few photos of a recent trip when I noticed the cowboy who demonstrates his tiny daughter doing bendy tricks outside Peppermint on Walking Street has increased the bizarre factor in the "show" they perform.

A year ago,the girl was curling like a scorpion, and removing her glasses with her toes, while doing a handstand on a table.

Maybe the act was getting stale,or not pulling in enough baht.

The latest version has the mite still elevated on a card table, but this time there are a few plastic breakfast bowls, and on top of these some glass tumblers supporting a big green drinks tray which she now uses as the platform to perform the handstand. On this tray are more glasses supporting another tray on which are more glasses supporting yet another tray! The third tray supports her head. Then she places and removes glasses on her head with her toes,as before.

Will be interesting to see how it evolves from here. Broken glass, hoops of fire, razor blades?

Not sure if the father wants shooting,or applauding for managing the show and keeping the family knee deep in baht.

Like so many other Thai people this girl is working for the family and doing what she can do. I can appreciate this in the sense that so many people in Pattaya have to do what they do for very good reasons. Having said all of that I refuse to stop and look as in my mind this is simple exploitation of a young girl. OK, I realise that I have had "a dollar each way' but that happens often in Asia. I appreciate the reason but detest the reality.

Sooner of later, the little girl will grow up and the father will have to figure out another way to make money.

Every time I see her there I feel sorry for her.

her pathetic father should be ashamed of him self, making his little daughter make a living for him. working those hours I'm sure she's denided her education and everything else. the smaller one with the hula hup is even more pathetic. It amazes me how kids can be exploted so out in the open free of prosacution.

I can watch a train wreck....but not this talented child.

I always hope someone from Cirque du soleil (sp?) discovers her, then takes her away (sans papasan) to a better life.

Time will take its course, the girl will grow to pubescence and adulthood, that will be the end of this particular show unless the chap is grooming and training a successor. I concur with the posters who find this rank, late-night exploitation of a young girl obnoxious, especially if this actually is her father.

None of us are going to change this if we are mere visitors or indeed residents in Thailand. It's in many ways a savage society to girls and young women. They end up doing most of the work that actually keeps people fed and clothed, while many in the male population look down on them for a low status they impose on them - and that unfortunately includes their own family members in some cases.
