I remember a while back another BM (Papillon?) asked what a small bottle (330ml) of Singha cost in Misty's - I'm not sure he ever got a straight answer to a pretty simple question. Similarly, I asked the same question about X-Zone and, likewise, didn't get any answer. So, as a sort of benchmark for GoGos' beer prices in Pattaya, what is the actual regular price for a small bottle of Singha in the chrome palaces around town? I'm not interested in any promotions unless they are all night, every night.

You probably didn't care. That's why I don't know how much beer is in many places...altho when it hits 165 a bottle, like at Iron and Whats Up, I tend to remember.

 

It was 120 baht.

I'm pretty sure I'd have been asking the price of a SML as that's what I usually drink in Pattaya.

 

You are correct that an answer was not forthcoming. I had to visit the venue to find out and I'd forgotten as soon as I left, lol. I do remember that it was at the upper end but not the most expensive Agogo in Town.

 

Some bars do 'Specials' on bottled beers but seem to omit SML for some reason even though I suspect it's the most popular bottled beer in Patts. X Zone, Private Dancer and Heaven Above spring to mind for some reason. Sue me if I'm wrong.

Often my drink is just as expensive at a bb. No air-con, toilets or nude girls makes it a bigger ripoff than a ws gogo..

So - can we get prices for a SML from some of the popular go go's ? - in thb not in "not exorbitant" as subjective terms are just that :thumbup

Just the other day, I saw a news story about astronomical price increases in Thai beer. I didn't bother to read the story, but I assume the increases lately have been enough to merit a news article. I wonder why?

 

As for the beer itself? I used to drink it now and then in Phuket when there were having a special on the draft.

I think you were reading an article about the raising of the limit on tax rates.

It was to allow the govt to raise taxes up to that limit.

The actual tax increases were well below the statutory limit allowed..at this time.

But like MM says, there's a few tricks on avoiding having to pay these prices

As I tend to visit a fair few venues on a night out (every night when in Thailand)I drink Singha as I believe the ABV is quite a bit lower than SML and I don't want to get too pissed before I have found a friend for the night, I will drink Draught for the same reason where available,although there seems to be a bit of a "cheap Charlie stigma attached to it" by the girls.
