Sorry you guys feel your efforts were wasted. I learned quite a lot from this board to prepare for my upcoming trip.

Looking forward to your trip report.

I was grown up on the streets and parties....my university in Moscow was more a brothel and a blackmarket, than a artistic university....

Nobody can be privileged enough to a university student, yet be a street person! That's an oxymoron.

Hi,

I like Indians. I find the tailors amusing. My other thread shows that Indians run some of the biggest companies in the World.

The only problems I have with Indians in LoS are the pushy tailors. I don't find them amusing. Indian tourists I have no problem with per se.

Do the tailors actually sell anything to the myriad tourists dressed in shorts, a tank top and sandals?

In general I do not like pushy people or people trying to grab and shake my hand so that they can pull me into their shop.

Now you know... so use the useful info....

The japanese culture is founded to accept any bullshit the authorities says...the brain dead ant behaviour... see the kamikazes... and the result: the ultra violent behaviour with the POWs... the mental wank of their ant attitude frustrations...

I don't agree with the general tone of Gabor's remarks. The Japanese military during WWII were extremely brutal to POW's and the Chinese civilian's. When they are in charge watch out the subservient SOB's are one nasty people. Years ago a friend of a friend did a year's prison time. He stated the guards were nasty, sadistic brutes.

It's a pity they are not like that in the west , i am sure it would stop a lot of cons re-offending if they knew they where going to get that kind of treatment next time they did a stretch....!

We are far to softly softly with these fuckers in the west.....

After about six no's to the same guy as I passed his store to am from hotel one day, I told him if I found out I was dying, maybe then I would be fitted for a suit but not to count on it. I have been harsher with guys who jump out and put their hands on me.

They are doing their job...as they learned it in their country. It is irritating but there are less offensive ways. I just smile, shake my head and refuse to shake hands, and that does it.

I agree they can be annoying. I find a polite but firm no thank you works way better then "fuck off".

70 years ago and prison, yeah, that about sums up the average Japanese person in 2014............

Back to the present day!

My ex GF is selling an apartment. She had Indian viewers today. More difficult than most, as per usual ( allegedly) . Man and woman, the guy done a shit in the toilet. And, after wasting time, declared it was for his son. So ( as usual) it's multiple viewings. I have had seven seaters full, come round on multiple days to view properties I am selling. Westerners do two viewings on average. Non westerners........................It;s like a phuken full time job....forget doing any business or relaxing. They just appear, minibus full, wanting in!!!!!........ Allegedly.

So you have tried both then?

What was the difference in reaction?

I find that not engaging in conversation works even better

That's usually my response. When I would stay in Bangkok for more than a night and the guys near the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 15, would say "Good morning my friend" I would give them a big smile and good morning in return. They didn't push it further.

I don't give them a glance, am deaf to their greetings, and continue past them, side-stepping any outstretched hand if necessary. Works perfectly.

This technique also works well with beggars, touts, and ladyboys .

Hi,

Unfortunately I spent a year locked up in Japan.

Strict but civil. We had massive bath houses; the Japanese, whites and blacks bathed on separate days. So the Japs wouldnt get offended by the cock size they told me. haha. It was just us gaijin didnt know how to bathe properly.

The food was good but never changed. I go into Japanese restaurants and the quality is the same; it makes me sick. Rice, stewed beef, pickles and miso. Lunch was iced bread rolls. Dinner the same as breakfast.

If you fought you got locked up and beaten.

No different from lockups in Australia except the food was better.

Prison guards, military types, security guards and airport officials all have the same attitude; outrank them or show you dont take shit and they turn into feeble order-followers.

I think Gabor and BigD are both singing from the same song sheet. Maybe a lost in translation episode.

Interesting post Mr Bronson. I'd love to hear more of your stories. I do enjoy that TV series 'Banged up Abroad.' (even though I thought it might be about Western Bitches on holiday in the Gambia or Jamaica).

Don't be shy...

Hi,

I've always found Indians nice people to do business with and not afraid to spend in the wine bar afterwards. There are some racists on this board. People like BigD and me are good ambassadors for the US/UK but some of the people are loud and agressive and give the Thais a bad impression of Americans/Europeans. I always wear Linen or silk clothes to try tell the Thais I'm not thug. Indians have their wrong 'uns as well I'm sure.
