Correct me if I am wrong: It is "slow season" over there?

I think so.....but I couldn't get a seat in Retox last Thursday morning and whenever I go into Devonshire (with no extra egg!) it has around 10 people or more in...

With still the same main chef who was cooking for you over the last 8 months of last year...

The company is still Bite Me Bistro Co Ltd now with the Retox Group as investors. The Bite is a rebrand to reflect the new start.

Give us a while to get going, we are finishing the refit first and when that's done we will have a long hard look at the menu and bring in new items gradually as well as some great new specials.

Someone mentioned the difficulties in running two or more types of cuisine from the same premises... remember there are two totally separate kitchens here, the chefs can't even see each other, so no problems there!

And on the subject of specials!

Come in out of Thursday's rain and try our delicious Moroccan lamb burger special, served with hummus, mint yoghurt sauce, salad and thick-cut fries for 250฿!

Or our chicken breast served with a cream cheese, white wine and spinach sauce, mixed veg and buttered mash - 250฿!

And if its raining too hard - all specials can be delivered to you in central Pattaya for only 50฿, main menu items above 500฿ delivered free for July and August

I saw you in Retox around 10am this morning but didn't get a chance to stop you (I was enjoying my guiness too much)...I am off to UK next week for a short holiday and want to start using Bite Me again when I come back..

A couple of questions because you don't mention them in this thread after re-opening.....

1. You publicise opening at 1pm but can I still come in at around 11am as usual??

2. Do you have the same wine list and choice of craft beers??

3. Do you still have a good choice of starters that can be eaten individually during a long afternoon session..????

Thanks mate...

Not sure about starting the craft beers again, very few customers had them. Mark-up was low but they're still pricy. And more tax on alcohol from September I think. Best get stocks in!

Wine - just house wines for now, but a selection similar to before in a week or so M.

We are there slogging away from 10.30 on most mornings, and customers wandering in are already being fed well before 1pm... so no worries there. Slightly smaller starters list but gradually being added to, so plenty to choose between. Less staff as we get up to speed again, so bear with us...

There's a wine store on Second Road. Do you have a corkage fee? Just kidding.

As to beer, there are fairly mainstream beers in the States that do cost a bit but are found in most supermarkets. My favorite is Torpedo Extra IPA Ale By Sierra Nevada Brewing. Not Cheap. A 24 oz bottle costs about $4.00 here and a six pack of 12 oz bottles goes for about $8.00 on sale. It is 7.2% alcohol. Not cheap even here and they produce a lot of bottles. A great beer. Very hoppy. I am not a fan of most IPAs but this one is special. Would love to find it there.

They had some great beers in there last year but as the man says they are expensive to buy-in and even with a small mark up it becomes too expensive..

They had a lovely hazelnut brown ale and a few American Arrogant Bastards in there which I tried..

Check out the "Jim's Burger" thread as they do craft beers too....I still haven't made it there though due to opening times..

I can stick to Chang or as the ladies in the bar say, Beer Chang. I actually prefer it to Heinekens. I am a bit particular (a fucking snob) at home but as long as it isn't wheat beer, I can drink most, ales and lagers, stouts, porters, German lagers, British ales.... It can all be good. I even had a good Filipino beer in the PI that I loved. I prefer hoppie to sweet (malty) and my German heritage demands barley malt, hops, water and yeast (reinheitsgebot 1516 - German Purity Law adopted in Bavaria). As I said a snob. Does not matter to me top or bottom fermentation though.

When I travel I discard expectations except in Germany.

Didn't I recently read somwhere it is set to increase in September.

Sad to hear that but a sign of the times.

The squeeze is on everywhere, family restaurants in France used to all produce food for love as much as money 30 or 40+ years ago. Now it's more about survival, canteen-style assembly line dishes are the future

Didn't I recently read somwhere it is set to increase in September.

I got an email from a supplier saying a flat rate increase in September would clobber cheaper wines for example, with less effect on the top shelf drinks

The best food in Pattaya as for price/quality/value. A refreshing contrast to the Retox/Robin Hood clan...
